We stumbled upon Somethin' Sweet Donuts by suprise. We had time to kill before an appointment and I was searching for something with ube. We came for the ube biscoff but also tried some of their other donut varieties as well as their coffee and teas. The staff is helpful with recommendations as we were slightly overwhelmed being our first time here. We were happy with our choices. The line may look long, but it moves fast! Definitely a place to add to our rotation while up north.

What are the odds that I would be craving a donut on National Donut Day!?! Very likely, actually! I didn't realize there was a holiday going on until I got there and was wondering what all the excitement was about! There was a long line (out the door long) because they were offering buy one get one on their classic style donuts. Tell me how I walked out with 1/2 a dozen. What made my day even more was because the deal was for just one donut but I was getting the 1/2 dozen and had selected 2 specialty donuts, he gave me one of those for free instead, as they aren't included in the 1/2 dozen classic box. I also tried a smoothie for the first time and it was delicious, creamy, and smooth. Their Churro donut is literally a mix of churro and donut and I wanna know how they did that!? I also tried a limited flavor that was kind of lemon cake. I could've used a little more lemon flavor personally but otherwise seriously obsessed with this place!

The best donuts in Chicago! I would 100% recommend supporting this small business over any of the big box donut shops--I guarantee these are better! The staff is always kind and I love the decor and ambiance. My favorite is a blueberry glazed but you can't go wrong.

Service is beyond amazing here. Love their donuts - options are endless. Ambiance is good. Street parking. Can't say enough good things about this donut shop. Family owned as well so it's good to support local! They do custom donuts which is great for any celebrations

After my eye check-ip across the street, I stopped by to get coffee. I was pleasantly surprised to see ube donut . I of coutse had to get it as well as raspberry bismark, chocolate frosted bavarian cream and leek and parmesan pastry. They were all delicious, dough was soft and pillowy, the filling is not overly sweet. BTW, they have matcha-filled donuts as well for the matchaddicts. Even the leek parmesan pastry is on point. The coffee, big shoulders, I later learned is also a Chicago-local brand. It's deep and robust, just the way I like it with my sweets. I'm blessed to have this bakery in the neighborhood and glad to see them thrive.

Cambodian/Khmer family-owned donut shop in the Albany Park area. I don't normally eat donuts because of how unhealthy they are, but once in a while always hits the spot. The ones we ordered from here were pretty bomb! I forgot how expensive donuts have gotten (miss the 50 cent donut days), but this place is totally worth it based kn flavor and freshness!

I'm usually pretty picky about donuts. If they taste remotely stale/processed/dry or just plain overly sugary, I'd trash it. However, the donuts here were so good, so light and fluffy. Not too sweet, either, which comes from a tasteful amount of icing. There were so many options, too, which I wish I could have tried them all (next time!). I also got an iced matcha that was delicious. And to top everything off, the decor of the place was really fun and bright.

MY BIG BACK IS SCREAMING OF JOY LIKE A KID ON CHRISTMAS DAY! This is the best donuts I've had in years sorry Stan's donuts, unique flavors I bought a few to sample. I got the cherry cake donut, Ube bismark and the claw so funny looking yet so soft and yummy. The Thai iced coffee was so delicious not bitter, not stale a perfect melody. I'm kinda scared to write this review and everyone eats my favorite donuts. I hope I can find them when I come back. The staff or owner not sure was so friendly too

Both were delish! The glazed donut was fluffy, sweet and my fave. My husband loved his old fashioned donut! He said it was crunchy yet moist. Pair it with a soft brioche bun, and this sandwich was heavenly! Def check this spot out for breakfast! One of the best places we tried while in Chicago!

Pulled up just before 6:30 AM on a weekday and there were just a few folks ahead of us in line, but service is quick. Cake donuts were actually pretty solid here; the Blueberry Cake Donut was the best item, super soft and moist with a good amount of berries throughout. The Pistachio Cake Donut for some reason was texturally firmer and drier than the other. Unfortunately, the fried donuts were all misses. The dough was just really dense and none of the toppings really hit. The Glazed Donut just made me sad that the dough was bad and the bacon on the Maple Bacon Donut wasn't crispy, so you got a cold, chewy, greasy bite that wasn't super pleasant. The chopped dough pieces in the Apple Fritter were also oddly firm instead of soft. For a place with rave reviews, I was pretty bummed by the donuts, but maybe the fried chicken sandwich is where it's at.

There are plenty of donut shops around Chicago, but Beacon has managed to stand out by consistently delivering fresh, high-quality donuts with friendly service every single time I've visited. That kind of consistency is what keeps me coming back. As much as I enjoy trying seasonal flavors, I always find myself ordering the glazed donut. It's a perfect reminder that when the basics are done well, they don't need to be complicated. The glaze has just the right amount of sweetness with a delicate crackle on the outside, while the donut itself is incredibly soft, light, and pillowy. It's fresh enough that it almost melts in your mouth, and it never feels greasy or overly heavy. It's one of those classic glazed donuts that makes you appreciate how good simple can be. Another thing I appreciate is that the donuts taste like they're made with care rather than mass-produced. Even after multiple visits, the quality has remained remarkably consistent, which isn't always the case with bakeries. Every glazed donut I've had has been fresh, evenly glazed, and exactly what I'm hoping for when I walk through the door. The location is convenient, and it's the kind of neighborhood business that feels like a local favorite rather than a chain. Love that it's a window in an alley too! You don't see that often. The staff deserves a shoutout as well. Everyone I've interacted with has been friendly, patient, and genuinely happy to help. Even during busy mornings, they keep things moving efficiently while still making customers feel appreciated. That level of service goes a long way and is another reason I continue choosing Beacon over other donut shops. If you're looking for an excellent neighborhood donut shop, Beacon Donuts is absolutely worth the stop. Great people, consistently fresh donuts, and one of the best glazed donuts I've had in Chicago make this a place I'll happily continue visiting for years to come.

The lady at the front was super nice and gave me some recommendations, and we ended up getting the Chocolate Glazed Brioche. And wow... this donut was huge. Super soft on the inside, almost pillowy, and covered in a thick layer of chocolate glaze. First bite, you get that rich chocolate flavor right away, smooth and sweet without tasting fake or overly sugary. The brioche itself had that buttery flavor to it, light but still filling. The texture was probably the best part. Soft center, slight chew from the brioche, and the glaze added just enough thickness on top to make every bite feel rich. Honestly, it was almost too much for one person, but in the best way possible. Definitely lived up to the hype for me.

It also doesn't hurt that they are open from 6am to Midnight - perfect for those sudden doughnut cravings! One thing that can be improved is how they handle big orders. I recently ordered over 5 dozen doughnuts and it came in 6 boxes and a small bag. First problem: they don't deliver. Second and bigger problem is that they don't pack big orders so you can carry them out. How the heck am I going to carry 6 boxes and a bag of donuts??? Maybe they want to keep their business "small". A simple brown bag or even something to tie the boxes together would have been very helpful.

The menu gave a hibachi vibe, they had teriyaki bowls, unwich sushi rolls, soup, and specialty drinks but no fountain or canned drinks.
