Spicy fish tacos (2 for $8)
    Felicia Y.

After a lovely swim at the Elora Quarry, my boyfriend and I wanted to grab lunch in town. We did a Google search for fish and chips in the area and this place showed up but it said it was closed until 4 pm. To our surprise when we drove past, it was actually open...Google doesn't know everything after all! I will post a photo of updated hours for those of you craving something fishy! I went for the spicy fish tacos (2 for $8) and my boyfriend got the one piece cod with fries ($10.25). There wasn't any room to sit inside since it was a takeout restaurant so we sat at their cute outdoor tables with our food. I was very impressed by the tacos, they didn't look like anything special but they turned out to be very flavorful and the fish was crispy, peppery and spicy! My boyfriend enjoyed his fish as well, it was moist and flaky. The fries looked kinda oily but still tasted great. Overall, a very delicious meal in this beautiful little town!

Best hole in the wall Halibut and Chips. The only thing missing was the newspaper. We drive 60km for this.

My gluten free..the fish was dry and disgusting. Tasted like it had been made before and was just heated up. The regular halibut was rubbery. Chips were also hard and gross. Used to go once a month with previous owners..,we won't ever go back.

Great, fabulous restaurant!…read more Seriously, it's your classic 'fish and chips' spot and honestly, the food is delicious, but it's the SERVICE that really makes this place a 5 star! it's a 'mom and pop' independent establishment and you can tell these folks really care about their business! I don't eat there all the time, but every time I do, the lady always remembers my name and asks me how I'm doing. You can feel good giving your money to Captain Jack's restaurant in exchange for their lovely fish and chips; big chain restaurants don't really need your money and have servers that will never remember you and don't really love their jobs. Captain Jack's, however, is an amazing, independent restaurant, run by a hard-working couple who deserve for their restaurant to thrive for many years to come. I recommend trying the mushroom soup as an appetizer; it's different from anything I've ever had, but quite delicious. You will clean your plate and come back again for more delicious deep-fried fish and chips goodness!
