This was our first vacation away from home for 2 nights at a nearby resort. We found this restaurant by a casual search. We love reading menus and this one struck us as both uniquely varied and unpretentious. We made a reservation, asking for a patio seat. Despite it being a Saturday night some space was available. We were seated promptly and presented with the interesting menu we had researched previously. But let me cut to the chase before I give you the full review. This place would be worth driving in from Toronto (1.5 hours) just to dine! We ordered 2 appetizers. The first was a fresh loaf of French Bread served warm with an appropriately crispy/chewy crust. It came with a delicious olive tapenade, that was well oiled with an excellent and abundant olive oil. Needless to say this is not a 'repas minceur'! An excellent opening to a great meal. Our other appetizer was home made Chicken Pate with a smooth consistency. It was plated with baby gherkins, acidulated sweet onions and a small decorative and tasty salad. It was served with thinly sliced and lightly toasted French bread. A great, smooth pate, with a subtle yet extremely pleasing taste. And then came the main courses. My wife opted for the grilled calamari and a beet salad with chevre both of which were appetizers. The calamari was tender, nicely charred and the portion was extremely generous. The beet and chevre salad was untouched as my wife was fully satiated! Forage serves large portions. We will both enjoy the salad tonight! I decided to order the seafood curry because a curry featuring shrimp and scallops sounded delicious. It was also something (the scallops) not usually found on an Indian restaurant menu. I was in for a treat! The vegetable were cooked al dente. It was a nice marriage of carrots, courgettes, onions, and small florets of broccoli and cauliflower. On one section of the plate a mound of basmati rice completed the dish. It was awesome! Finally a curry that was not overpowered by too much (any?) coconut milk, and unique in its ingredients and preparation. This is not a spicy dish for all of you who are somewhat reluctant try curries. The next big decision awaited. Desert....but we had been defeated by the portions and the great dining experience. This experience was enhanced by pleasant, professional but relaxed outstanding service! In conclusion: what are you waiting for reserve and eat there! You will not regret it.

We were hiking nearby and it was hard to look for a restaurant that's still open for dine in, thanks to covid, luckily we found this place. Food was decent, service was on point, desserts were quite good. Food was quite good for the price, they all tasted better than expected with a decent amount of portion. Rare to find chocolate pecan pie, it's hot when served such a pleasant dessert for the cold weather. The bread pudding with rum sauce was great too, but I wish it's warmer. The only downside is the number of flies within the dining area, I could easily count 7 fruit flies beside me casually sitting on the wall and trying to steal my food and drinks when I wasn't paying attention.

Impromptu 1pm Saturday lunch with friends, 6 of us, on Oct 3, 2020.Called 45mins before arrival and got a reservation (sweet!). The service servers were friendly, funny and made food recommendations that were on point. 2 had the signature dish Seafood Stew, others ordered the beef cheese burger, mussels, crab cakes and I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Curry. Meal portions are large (ask for a glass of white wine) and tasty! We had dessert afterwards - key lime pie with whipped cream, raspberry sorbet and I had the blueberry pie with whipped cream. The blueberries and crust were still warm, like it just came out of the oven. Definitely a restaurant to recommend to friends and family! Will have to go back! Reasonably priced for the portions you get

This is a gem in Orangeville. Stopped by this restaurant on Sept 6, 2019 because the name just screams out freshness. Ever since I developed gluten intolerant ... finding a good restaurant catering to my needs has been tough ... but this place was able to deliver. Tonight I was tirn between the shrimp & scallop yellow curry and seafood linguini ... but I ended up with the curry because recommended by the server ... it was delish ... I will definitely be back to try the linguini next time.

My most recent visit was for a lunch date with my husband. I had the cajun chicken pasta, and much husband the roast beef.

By far one of my favorite restaurants. They really know what they are doing with food. As a big foodie I would know. Friendly service, daily menu changes. These are a few reasons I keep going back for more.

Loved this little place. It was busy so make a reservation on the weekend! Staff were super pleasant, and the food was AMAZING. Will definitely go back.

Amazing restaurant in an unassuming strip mall. Friendly and attentive service, great quality and locally sourced food. Excellent value for quality of food served. Would recommend the charcuterie appetizer, filet mignon (best scalloped potatoes I've ever had). Also great olive tapenade and warm bread brought to table before ordering.

I'm a pescatarian - the dishes I really enjoy include the Shrimp and Scallop curry, the steamed PEI mussels in the Thai curry broth, and the Veggie Burger. Both the yam fries and the white potato fries are very tasty - the yam fries are coated in gluten (flour) if that's an issue for you, you can get regular fries if you can handle cross contamination because they are fried in the same frier. I went most recently with my grandmother who eats meat and she really enjoyed the Calves' Liver. My favorite dish is the Grilled Calamari appetizer (see picture) you wouldn't know how tasty it is from seeing it on the menu but the seasoning + the horseradish cream that comes with it is to die for. Definitely order it if you like squid. Ambiance is nice - it can get a bit loud but there are carpets that absorb noise. We also really enjoyed the Ernest Cider (6.5% alcohol). We've been many times and we'll be going back!

Came for dinner and was not disappointed. Must have the chocolate cake w caramel sauce.

It's not very casual and not a place for coffee or premade deserts and sandwiches - if that's your understanding of 'cafe'. But it is very much an institution in Orangeville having been going since 1989 and still going very strong. To illustrate, the fairly large dinning room was practically full for lunch service on a regular Tuesday. I sat at the bar (which is in a separate room) and looked at the various options from the lunch menu. There's quite an extensive drink menu, and it was cool to see that the 4 draught beers were all local. I went with the Caledon Hills lager which was fantastic. The chicken wrap was a safe choice, but based on the description it seemed to hit the spot for the somewhat lighter lunch I was looking for: grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and herbed cream cheese. It was all as described. Nothing to blow me away, but hit the spot and the ingredients were great and I enjoyed the cream cheese which seemed to be made in house (the blend at least). Again, this place is somewhat high end however, with it being about the cheapest item on the lunch menu ($17) and it didn't come with a side. Service was great. It seems to be a running theme through the reviews, so looks like you should expect the same. It's definitely enough to warrant another visit and try dinner sometime.

One star for the convoluted business that it is…read more So I arrived at the restaurant to take my mom out for a fun night of Egyptian food, the restaurant occupied two commercial units thought its very unusual why they don't unify it was one unit. One side is for takeout but patrons are sitting there to dine in and the other side is for dine in, but the employees also do take out. Confusing YES. So I arrived in blindly following a line. I eventually tapped the person behind me, is this the line to get a table. He says no it's the line to order... okay. About 20min in the line I finally get the deal what everyone is doing, they order their seafood order at the front where the precious alive seafood is stored- it's like a pick what you eat counter. So I order their sangarita with a salad and yellow rice and a calamari with no sides (you save like $4 for just skipping that). After ordering she asked if I had a table?? I said no, then she comes out with seven yellow sticky notes and says there are 6 parties waiting for a table. I asked how long? Maybe 40min. She also advises me that i can put myself on the list for a table and she can hold my order up to 45min- they won't start cooking until you have a table. So I asked how long for takeout, she says 20min. Well I did my math, I waited 20min in line, and 20min for food that is not partially cooked so 40min, I can live with that. Watched the server rip the slip, and just fyi the fish was charged at $35/kg costing $60 and the calamari at 1lb was $22. She asked me to wait on the side, saw her put the slip with the raw fish and placed it ON THE FLOOR behind the counter. As I waited on the side I can see quite a number of orders piled in Rubbermaid containers on the floor. Behind the counter I can see the coats of the employees piled up next to what looks like to be the washed cutlery for table service and the employees use the same yellow rag to wipe every cutlery. I also saw employees clear the tables and return to prepare more cutlery- did they wash their hand in the kitchen??? I was then prompt to pay on their pay unit. It prompted me tip. SKIP tip for takeout. Then she tells me it's 2% charge if I pay credit card no charge for debit. So I pay debit. I waited patiently, I stood near the washroom and overheard how a male customer found a $100 bill in the washroom and handed it to the restaurant- they didn't even ask around if anyone dropped it. Then when I had waited 30min (10min past the estimated time, I asked for an update ). They assured me 10 more minutes. Then after 10min I asked again, they said 1min. And then they came out with my take out. The gave me a complimentary hummus for the slow service, but I don't think it made up for the undersized sides they served me. Just look at my pic and look at the website photo. Overall , if you have 2-3hours this is your place. THIS PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY CHAOS! I'm questioning food stored on the floor even though it's in a Rubbermaid and then that bin placed back on the scale, touched by the gloved hands and potentially cross contaminating food. During the whole time I didn't see anyone clean or mop the floor- what if people are trekking sidewalk salt in the winter. I am really concerned. Eat dangerously here if you want. I do say the food was seasoned well but won't be returning.

There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037
