He quoted me around the same price as other assembly services in the area but was the only one with good reviews. This machine has lots of pulleys and other stuff that I knew I would mess up if I tried to put it together myself. The manufacturer says it'll take two people about 5-6 hours to put together. He did it in around 3 hours by himself and it was assembled perfectly. He was very nice and professional and did a great job. He even cleaned up after, there were lots of boxes and trash from all the stuff. I've been using the machine a lot since he installed it and everything is working perfectly, he clearly installed it correctly. I was worried I'd hire some random assembly company that contracts out some random guy that day and they would mess it up. It would be a huge hassle to try to get it fixed. It's much better to hire someone who knows what they're doing and not have to get things fixed later. And it was the same price anyways to hire David. Actually a little bit cheaper. From what I could research he's the best person in the area to assemble gym equipment and he did a fantastic job at a good price. So I'd definitely recommend just going with him. However, make sure you plan it out, his earliest day available was like 3 weeks after it was delivered. But I didn't call and ask until a few days after it was delivered. But as a small business advocate, I really wanted to buy local, so I decided to check out Sacramento Exercise Equipment Center again. Wow! Although it might seem like it would be an intense and intimidating place, the manager Dylon put us at ease (including on the phone). He's a very nice and helpful guy. And as soon as I picked up some of their equipment, it was a reminder that some things are just way easier and better to check out and buy in person, even if you might pay a few bucks more. While it can be helpful to read about a product online, it's obviously a whole different (better) experience to actually hold it in your hand, especially something like weightlifting equipment and with the help of someone as helpful and knowledgeable Dylon to answer your questions in real time.

After raising seven children, I was finally able to save enough to create my dream home Pilates studio. I have degenerative back disease and found Pilates more effective than physical therapy, so this wasn't a luxury purchase--it was medical equipment and a necessary investment in my health. Cassie was wonderful throughout the purchasing process, and I purchased additional equipment to complete my studio. I spent weeks preparing the room for what Balanced Body proudly brands as the "gold standard" in Pilates equipment. Then it arrived. I assembled the reformer, selected a workout from PilatesAnytime, and began my footwork. Almost immediately--bump, bump. Every pass of the carriage, the same two bumps, in the exact same spots. I contacted Balanced Body, and here I am three weeks later after countless emails, phone calls, videos, photos, and troubleshooting attempts--still with defective, brand-new equipment. Despite repeatedly explaining that this was not a wheel issue (the bumps do not occur the length of the rail, they occur in the same two spots every time), I was sent replacement wheels anyway. Changing out eight wheels required hunching over the reformer--an extremely painful process for someone with a back condition. This equipment was supposed to help my back, not worsen it. After reassembling everything, the same bumps were still there. I broke down in tears. Standing in my dream studio with defective equipment from the one company I trusted to deliver the absolute best was devastating. While Russell has been kind during troubleshooting, kindness does not replace functional equipment. The constant bumping is not a minor issue--it is distracting, disruptive, and entirely counter to the mind-body focus Pilates requires. The idyllic experience I had hyped myself up for was crushed. This reformer arrived defective out of the box. I cannot afford to spend even a single additional dollar correcting an issue that is not mine to fix--nor should I be expected to. Any replacement frame and return of the defective one should be fully handled by Balanced Body. I have since emailed Russell, Bill, and Akio requesting a replacement frame. This experience cannot be undone, but a better one can be created if Balanced Body truly stands behind the reputation and hype it promotes.

I've driven by The Ride many times on my way to and from home but never managed to find time to…read morestop in. Well, today I did and boy am I happy I did! I met Sean who is one of the owners, and he was so nice answering all of my questions about their services and bike tune ups. He was patient and incredibly helpful, I was blown away. Having just relocated from SF which has a multitude of bike shops all over city, it was refreshing to walk into a place and not be treated like I was simply some number in line. Allow me to explain the differences. Attitude: SF= snooty, sometimes downright rude and pretentious hipsters who you know make fun of your yuppie PUBLIC bike when you drop it off for a tune up. I know it's not "cool" and heralds a hip lifestyle of riding the streets but I like it and you should respect that. The Ride= Sean was pleasant and smiled and said bring it in, we can tune it up no problem. Costs: SF= they will charge you an arm and a leg ($100+) and not tell you what the work entails. My tire was flat in a week and wanted to charge me another $100 to repair it !?!? OR they try to give you the wrong bike back that isn't yours. Seriously, it happened to me. The Ride= I haven't dropped my bike off yet but I was quoted $55 and whatever parts or extras would be run by me for approval before being charged. I'd tune my bike up more often and keep it riding better at that price! The Ride is a small locally owned business. And it's important to support such great people who only want to help their neighbors and provide excellent customer service. If they don't have it, they can order it for you or provide suggestions. I saw a GORGEOUS bike from a brand called Simcoe which looks amazing. And these guys are the only ones in the area to carry it. Sacramento seems to have a bike friendly culture, but it's attitude about biking is less pretentious and people bike because they seem to enjoy it not because it's some political statement. So go take your bike that you love and have the owners at The Ride take care of you and your happy healthy ride!

They have lots of S Works too if you're looking to drop some $$$ on some of the best rides money can buy. I had some trouble with my Sirrus tubeless tires going flat constantly. Also, the wedge design holding the seat post in kept popping out. Since it was a new bike, the bike shop was very generous and retapped the rims for free and added carbon fiber paste to the wedge. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and they walked me through the fixes they did, why the tires might be going flat, and how to prevent issues in the future. I'll definitely be coming back!
