Since I first purchased the most comfortable, beautiful, durable Remonte ankle boot at Sole Mates I have recommended them to many of my friends and family. The owner is a shoe whisperer! He helped my sister, who has problems with sore feet and balance, find the perfect pair of shoes for work. He also helped me find comfortable, attractive, easy-on shoes and boots for my 99 year old mother who insists on doing everything herself. The brands they carry are the BEST, the staff expertise is extensive and their rewards program and return policies are great. Wow! My entire shopping experience here consisted of walking in, walking through several salespeople and customers to the back of the store, trying on three pair of sneakers, not finding my size, and walking out. All without a single word, nod or smile from anyone. No acknowledgement of my existence. Under the circumstances, this doesn't even deserve one star. Limited selection of anything, although they do have a larger selection of boots than anything else. The back wall of the store has clearance, and not a huge selection there, either. This is a tiny store (Thumbelina would love it) and I'm not claustrophobic, but it even made me uncomfortable. It's also very cluttered, with very narrow aisles. Almost to the point of I had to exhale just to go down an aisle, since I just socked away a bagel and cream cheese at Bruegger's. If you're looking for expensive and a limited selection of womens footwear, this is your place. My Latina wife and I went in today looking for shoes for her for work. She went and looked around and I sat down. After five minutes she came over to me and whispered "let's go." As we were walking out she told me she had never felt more unwelcome in a store. She said 2 different sales people looked her up and down and then looked away. This is a quaint store with big value. This store had name brand companies that tailor their shoes for comfort, style, color along with support and built in orthodontics. I have not seen this kind of selection for quality women's foot ware any where in Upstate NY. If you are on your feet all day or if you have any kind of foot issue, like Plantar Fasciitis , Nephropathy, High Arches, Wide feet and so on, this is the store for you.
