We had dinner here during a visit for my birthday. I had requested an outdoor, shaded table, but it rained during the day, so the outdoor seating was not available. I was thrilled that there was room for us inside and we did not have to sit at a soggy, cold table! The restaurant is shaped like a large barn, but the decorations are rustic elegance. It is a pleasant room for a meal. We ordered two different Pinots by the glass, so we could compare them. Our server was careful in making sure we knew which was which. I started with a tomato salad and my husband had beef tartare. We then shared a halibut entree and a chocolate tart for dessert. The food presentations were lovely and flavors were good. Stopped by this little gem on our adventure in Napa. Everyone was so nice and courteous. We got an awesome table for our party of 9 overlooking the pool. The servers were super courteous and helpful. So polite. The lunch menu was fairly simple with salads and sandwiches and fish tacos. Of course their was a big wine and drink menu. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which was nicely presented with a small bowl of fries. My wife ordered the BLT and was raving about the heirloom tomatoes. Wow. Don't get confused by the casual name of this restaurant. It is in the Michelin category (not sure if it has a star, but it should). We loved it so much we almost came back the next day for another meal. Yeah, it's that good. Started with the cold soba noodles with salmon. So delicious, and I could've had a whole meal of it. Then we shared the black cod, which was also just the chef's kiss. And after these delicious meals, there's no way we were leaving without getting not one, but two desserts to share. My friend and I vacationed in Yountville CA, flew into Santa Rosa Airport, stopped by Solbar for lunch before going to our first wine tasting on the route to Yountville. To note we also stopped by for lunch again on our way back to the airport. Both times were great! 5 STARS for food and service! First time, I did make a reservation, Julian took good care of us. Second time, no reservations, sat in the bar area where Alfredo took good care of us. Food and cocktails ordered both time were the Green Flash, Beer, Yellowtail Cevichi , Shrimp Cocktail, Beef Carpaccio and the Chilled Corn Soup. All the food and service were excellent! My only complaint was the unruly patrons, that seemed to be locals that were so obnoxiously disrespectful to others like ourselves dining around him. His language, threats and racial threats were so inappropriate. He was obviously a big spender which puts the restaurant at an awkward position to confront him, but then losing other customers because no action was taking place. We arrived for breakfast, as we couldn't fit it into our schedule for dinner plans but were still met with a great dining experience. The Good: *The service was exceptional, as advertised, except for one tiny SnAfU (see below). *Outdoor dining, which I'm presuming, is pet-friendly. *They accept reservations *Really nice vibe, décor, and atmosphere that goes along with the whole resort theme. *Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are as delicious as they look; soft, fluffy, and full of great flavor. *Housemade Lox was really delicious, as the fish was delicately smoked, seasoned to perfection, and almost literally melted in my mouth. *The much ballyhooed Cinnamon-Sugar Donut Holes lived up to the hype--and then some! Yeasty, pillow-like mini donuts came out warm and freshly fried. I could've eaten a few dozen of these and kept going. It's definitely crackalicious. We got sat near the fireplace inside. Our servicer Chris was amazing!! Very attentive really nice and gave great recommendations to near by wineries. Postives: Kelly at the bar is a magician when it comes to making cocktails. I asked him to make a custom cocktail based on whiskey or gin, with very little sugar and he designed something just for me. WOW! He also made an incredible rum punch, old fashioned and martini for my friends. The staff is very professional and friendly. They made us feel very welcome. Negatives: They put ranch dressing on a chicken nugget with caviar. I understand trying to make something upscale, but that was silly. My husband and I had a beef fillet and mine was filled with gristle, and his was thin and overcooked. Solbar required us to pay in full on Resy in order to make a reservation for 6 people. A day later, we called to add 2 more people to our reservation, however in the process, the restaurant staff resubmitted our entire reservation with Resy, thus charging us twice. After contacting Resy, they stated that only SolBar would be able to reimburse us for the error. We called and spoke to the manager and she said that she would look into this for us. We also spoke to the hostess twice (once at the beginning of our visit and once 2 hours later), and nothing has been resolved. Another three days have passed and we still haven't heard back. We came during the day and the weather was great so we sat outside but there is inside seating as well. There is free parking at the lot near the front entrance. HAMACHI CEVICHE ($18) - this was refreshing and I liked the hamachi and the sauce. 3.5/5 SHRIMP COCKTAIL ($27) - there were only four pieces but they were fresh and I liked the cocktail sauce. They were good but personally $7 per shrimp is not worth for me. 3/5 MISHIMA RESERVE WAGYU CHEESEBURGER ($24) - I asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it came out more medium (they might've mixed mine up with another burger we got that was definitely more rare). Today we had a team holiday lunch at Solbar and it was perfection. The ambiance is cozy with a nice fireplace and the restaurant itself is nicely laid out so the tables aren't on top of each other. We started with the lettuce wraps and all of the salads on the menu. Each salad was different but equally tasty and we all commented on how fresh the ingredients were and how beautiful the presentation was. Our server was absolutely wonderful - we had a few modifications to our orders and she was completely happy to accommodate our requests and everything came out exactly as we wanted it. Went to Solbar at Solange today and it was the worst service I have ever experienced. We were a party of six: 3 couples. We asked the waitress if each couple could have their own check, she said "no problem". Then we ordered drinks, and we waited and waited and waited and waited. After 20 minutes two of us received our cocktails but two of us did not. Then after 10 minutes the waitress comes back to see if we want to order more drinks. My husband tells her he never got his beer. She says "sorry" I will get it for you. Then she comes back and says to my husband the restaurant does not have any Corona beer that he ordered, so he instead orders a Modello. She never comes back so my husband gets up on his own and goes to the bar to get his own Modelo. Getting our drinks took over 40 minutes! Then we don't see her for another ten minutes and when she finally comes back, we tell her we are ready to order, so she jots down what we want. And we wait and wait and wait and wait. Finally after another 25 minutes we flag down another waiter and ask to see the manager, and we ask if our order is ready as we have been there for an hour and we are hungry. Never see our waitress again and at this point other servers bring half of us our food and we wait another 10 minutes for the rest of the orders. Then the waitress finally shows up and states that all our orders have to be on one bill and cannot be separated out! Now we are really annoyed so we ask the manager( who was really nice and trying to do damage control), tell her how bad the service was and that the waitress basically ignored us and it was pulling teeth just to have her get drinks to the table. So after much a do the manager brings us the three separate checks and they are all mixed up, charging us for things we didn't order and add ins we never ordered etc... Finally after another 30 minutes the manager gets it all straight and we made it clear that the waitress was not getting an automatic gratuity. In fact we didn't tip her at all. This is a high priced white tablecloth restaurant and I get better service at a fast food place. Food was OK, but French fries were room temp. The service gets an "F"! read more

I started with a kiwi cocktail which was very refreshing and a little spicy (if you've ever blended kiwi into a drink you know what I mean). For my appetizer, I had the Hamachi ceviche, which came with a really nice mixture of micro greens and herbs and a nice salsa Verde, together with cucumber and avocado. It was exquisite. For my main (lunch), I had the duck comfy Gyro. It was like a juicy Carnitas with a nice healthy yogurt to Zieke sauce and a vulgar salad with veggies on the side. It was substantial, but still felt light and healthy. I really enjoyed it! The restaurant is tucked away, and the outdoor patio over looks the pool. It's surrounded by trees and mountains. Very scenic. The patio itself is adorned with trees and string lights. Plenty of heat lamps. It looks a little like a restoration hardware display furniture-wise. The people watching is so good. Fine dining atmosphere the music, high ceilings, light fixtures, and openness transcended us to a great state of mind. The quality of life here is great for visiting. Hubs ate everything of his Silverado breakfast except the red item but I ate mine. They are so genuinely kind and gave us fresh fruit on the house because one egg broke on my crab Benedict so they started over. For some reason my decaf coffee was cold and a bit bitter but it wasn't a biggie. Cute furry creature said goodbye as we approached our car then scampered off. I'd come again in a heartbeat. Grilled octopus - Excellent spicy peanut sauce with a Thai theme. But the octopus was very crispy. Fresh. Excellent. Tagliatelle with truffles - It's got good truffle flavor but the sauce is too diluted. Thicker will be much better attached to the pasta. Still, if you love truffle, you should get. Prime filet - I regretted not getting it. I've been to Japan and around the world tried so many Wagyu steak and this one trumps it all. Filet mignon is known not to have rich beef flavor but very tender. This one is so tender and much tender than Wagyu (Kobe or Takayama) and hurts not fatty like Wagyu. So I was impressed. However, if you have been to steak house specialist, you would know how the charred grilled the steak so crispy on the outside. I think if they used beef fat to grill the steak it will Crisp it up more but the timing become more tricky. They did ours perfectly as seen in picture. Black cod - I like the sauce that dressed up the cod but I'm not impressed with the east they grilled the cod. Again, it's not crispy and it doesn't taste very fresh. It's not bad but just that I've had better in regards to freshness and preparation. Though again, the sauce was tasty. Hazelnut torte - Goodness gracious. It was impressive. Hazelnut roasted perfectly, even the one inside the tart and not just the one on top. The cake is not very sweet. And the cream is fresh cream and not butter cream. It's a matter piece. Was able to choose our seating in center of restaurant facing the beautiful fireplace on plush couches. Given a 3 course price fixe menu, main menu, and dessert menu. Took more than 15 min to decide and we weren't rushed by the wonderful waitress. Finally decided on price fixe of Onion soup, black cod, and butterscotch pudding for $80 and pork schnitzel $55 from main menu. Food was delicious IMO. Wife felt cod still had the fishy smell but everything was consumed plate-clean. Staff was attentive refilling water, replacing silverware and plates after every course, wiping table clean from onion soup drip, and helped us take selfies. The restaurant eventually got packed around 6:30p so fortunate we went early. Reasonable pricing IMO considering food prices nowadays, welcoming friendly staff, beautiful ambience, a Michelin awarded restaurant, and that the only other Michelin restaurant we ate at in Sacramento cost us $400+. I would definitely come back again to try breakfast, lunch, other dinner choices and eat outside on the patio. Laura and Louise were so great but the overall staff here deserves special recognition. My fiancé and my maid of honor reached out separately to plan a dinner and surprise. Louise went above and beyond to help my husband set up a champagne surprise for us and Laura was such an attentive server that anticipated our needs without being overbearing. Our group was large and were turn away rudely by many restaurants. We understand that large groups are hard to accommodate in Napa valley but we were willing to be separated but were snubbed without any options. When we contacted SolBar, not only were they accommodating but courteous and inviting. We felt so taken care of here and the food was simply amazing. We kept raving about how good everything was.
