DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Solar Going Up (Thumbtack). Short version: Signed and gave deposit on 12/14/22 (cashed on 12/14/22) which exceeded 10% or $1K of project cost; second payment was p/u on 1/12/22 (cashed on 1/13/23) for material as stated by Connor Stotz (HIS License #132836SP Employed by Complete Solar Inc NOT Solar Going Up- info verified on CLSB 5/14/23). On 12/29/22 Connor sent a text stating "he wanted to install while we were out of state, we said "no." Asked him "did he pull permits," he responded "no, we can install and wait for permits to be approved, we do that a lot to keep the flow of installs going otherwise we would be waiting for some cities and counties for 4 or so months." We responded "no wait until we get back." Solar Installation on 1/21/22 - individuals showed up - subcontractors. They told us they worked for another solar company during the week, "we asked" have you been paid? He responded "yes". They did not tell us our roof was missing tiles. Had we not gone to our backyard and looked at the roof, we would have not known of the missing and broken tiles. On 1/22/23 sent Connor an email with photos. He replied "working on getting replacements asap." On 1/24/23 Connor shows up to finish setting up the system - no mention of replacing the roof tiles. Connor asked for the final payment. Final payment was given on 1/24/23 (cashed on 1/25/23). The solar system was paid in full before our SCE application was submitted which was submitted on 2/2/23. We were told final payment should not have been paid until the Permission to Operate (Rec'd 4/20/23) and the Net Metering Agreement (Rec'd 4/21/23) was fully executed by SCE. Net Metering is a program that credits your electric bill when your solar system sends surplus energy back to the grid. We knew a rain storm was coming in a few days. Called roofer through thumbtack, came out on 1/25/23, replaced broken and missing roof tiles. Sent Conner text stating same. We wanted to make sure our home was safe from any water damage. Picked up our mail on 1/26/23 received Preliminary Notice from the solar material supplier. We thought we paid for the material with our second payment from what Connor Stotz sent us a text message. Sent email on 1/26 to Solar Going Up asking about the preliminary notice and SCE application. No response. Requested Solar Going Up to send us an unconditional waiver of lien upon final payment, no response. To date we have never received one from them. However, we did receive one from the supplier upon sending them proof of final payment and that the solar system was paid in full. SCE application was submitted 2/2/23 - called SCE on 2/15 - application had deficiencies - sent Solar Going Up email on 2/15/23 stating same along with a third request to correct our email with SCE so that we can get updates on our application. Application was resubmitted on 2/15/23 and 3/13/23 per SCE. Now we have a roof leak from the last storm. Notified Conner of roof leak on 3/1/23 with photos (Solar Going Up - they don't respond). His last response was on 3/3/23 "will have someone out early next week - just got off the phone with the "repair guy" and he will get back to me on Sunday 3/5/23." On 3/3/23, I asked Connor is this an insurance company for the warranty work? Will he be a subcontractor? Connor responded on 3/6/23, "our installer will be back to fix it." I responded "we need his full name and his license number. Solar Going Up does not have a roofing license - they have a C46. On 3/7/23; we hired a Remediation company to check out the inside of our home. It was and still is tarped. We have Dehumidifier fans (4) from 3/7/23 to 3/13/23. We had to move out of our master bedroom because of the location of the leak and noise. After several emails and two telephone calls, we were tired, frustrated and felt apprehensive every time it rained not knowing if our home was safe. Solar Going Up is not licensed to do roofing. Therefore, that is why we requested a licensed roofer. We are still waiting for our roof to be repaired, for the solar system to be inspected and to pursue reimbursement for all the cost we have paid. As of today, 5/14/23; Solar Going Up has not contacted us or sent us a written correspondence to resolve this matter or to reimburse us for the cost so far. Solar Going Up is the worse company as they do not respond to any verbal or written communications. BUYER BEWARE OF THEIR WARRANTY

I was late to the game on this solar thing. One week left before NEM2.0 deadline on 4/14/23, I started calling solar companies. Got 3 quotes which all similar in price. I signed up with SolarGoingUp on 4/10/23 as I felt that they have their act together better than the other two. Fast forward 4 months later on 8/2/23, SCE starts buying my productions. My system is pretty basic, so everything went smoothly. Libby is the best at informing me each step of the process. The installer crew was very polite. Connor came to finalize the installation. John oversaw the project. SCE came to inspect and approved it quickly. My brother and one of my friends went with another company and waited almost a year. Perhaps I got lucky with SCE here in Corona. If I ever added more panels, it'll be with SolarGoingUp again. Thanks to John, Libby, and Connor for wonderful experience

Added four panels in about three hours.

Haven't give SCE a penny since the 3rd month after our system went online (over 2 years now!). The reason I'm writing this review now is that we had a major roof leak back in late November and part of our upstairs ceiling collapsed in. What a nightmare!! We weren't sure where the leak was or if the solar was the cause. We contacted a roofer to address the roof repairs needed and we also called New Day to let them know what was going on and asked that they be involved in determining the source of the leak. They were so responsive and quickly came over to evaluate the situation. After their inspection they didn't feel the leak was due to the solar panels but was rather a roof problem in one of the valleys near the solar panels. They didn't just walk away at that point. They came the day the roofer began the repairs and worked with them to fully evaluate the problems. They removed the solar panels that needed to be removed so the repairs could happen and put them back after. They were correct and the solar was not involved in the problem. Corey the owner went out of his way to make sure he had a crew on-site when the roofer needed them there so that we could get our repairs done as quickly as possible. Corey was up on the roof multiple time to make sure everything was done correctly and we were happy and secure that the problems were resolved. Many other companies would have just said "not our problem" and walked away but that's not how they do business. I would so highly recommend them to everyone for their professionalism, knowledge and follow-up even 2 years after the install!!

So charming and nice and easy to reach. What a NICE guy he was. Then the install company did the installation and I received an amendment to sign. The real price is over twice what I was told. And of course I hadn't recorded the entire conversation like I should have. So now I'm stuck paying $200 a month for solar electric when my regular electric bill was only $85. I thought I was doing something good for the planet and pay a few bucks more per month. Instead I was lied to by the sales guy and given the run around by the financing company (GoodLeap) and the install company (Freedom Forever) as they both kept telling me to contact the sales guy to discuss. Of course he ghosted me and now I'm screwed. Do NOT do business with these lying theives.

They then turned us on and a few weeks later, noticed that the system was not working correctly. They came out and did a "fix" and we assumed everything was good. Yesterday we discovered that we are drawing power every day and that our panels are producing next to nothing. When we contracted the monitoring company, they said there was a long standing problem with the converter (with out really explaining what the problem was). We had to reach out to Solar Pros and Rich was rather abrupt with us, telling us throwing out technical terms he did not understand would not fix the problem. Wow. This guy has the company but does not understand the system?!!?!! Dale, a tech reached out this morning to find out if he can come out on Friday to try to fix the problem. I'm just stunned that they made changes but then never checked back to see if the changes worked (we've only been producing .2KW during a day). Evidently, we are responsible for monitoring the system. I too went back and read the paperwork in more depth and regret signing a great deal of it. Buyer beware!

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

It has been about 8 months since the project was completed so I feel I can write this review fairly…read moreabout my experience. It was pushed to get it in before the credits ended. For the quick summary, there was a mistake in my installation, it was not handled well and the system works well but only after a long struggle. They price match but hard to say if I felt good about the price in the end either. Overall, it is very mediocre. After talking to 4 companies, I decided to go with OC after they honored a price match from a competitor. It was a fairly large system, 15 panels and a Tesla power wall 3 and needed to be added to existing system as my current one was underpowered and required due to new builds in California. Total was about 33k, out the door. It may not have been the cheapest offering but shopping for solar is not my favorite experience and I went with what I felt was at least fair for what I got. I primarily worked with Don from sales and Brooklynn and initially seemed fine and for all intents and purposes, it should have been. I chose to get HOA approval and pay for it myself so it did stall the project through no fault of OC. My HOA requires applications for major projects to be submitted along with a sizable fee, and I chose to do it by the book. I dropped the first major deposit of 10k and the installation was scheduled around July 2025. The next part is where the struggle began. The day of installation, the installers tell me the panels cannot fit in the design that they were given. They asked if I wanted to pivot to another part of roof and just install it then and there. I call OC and they admit the design cannot possibly fit my panels on this small area of my roof and I cancel the project and have them redo the plans and for me to go through HOA again. This leads to a very frustrating back and forth with Don and later Brookylnn's superiors as I no longer heard from her. I had about 10 calls or more trying to clarify what to do next and was met with a lot of resistance about what happened. It turns out the plan was actually the original estimate from Don (sales) and for some reason just pushed through their architectural team without consideration of the size. Don's superior Chandler even spoke with me about this and though I can't recall their explanation for this mistake, they spoke as if this was my issue with wanted to go through HOA and that they had no power to stop the project. If I had written this review after this call, I'd recommend no one work with these people. It felt frustrating and at times demeaning, given that they do this all day and I don't know what I'm talking about. After I got my second approval, OC refunded my fee to the HOA approval, but only after I explicitly asked for it. We eventually moved forward with the project and inspection when fine. My guess is had we not had this irresponsible prelimary design provided by Don go through their "architectural" team it would've been fine and none the wiser. As of this writing, the panels are working as intended and I had such a sour experience, I just moved on. But now Don and company requested a review for their internal systems, so here is it and a Yelp one that they did not ask for. In the end, like most of these experiences, it's not the mistake that upsets me, it's the handling of it. Communication started fading when things got more difficult and the lack of empathy or consideration for some dropping this much money on something they will do maybe 2-3 times in their life is disappointing. Much of the time I asked them and myself, how should I know this plan wouldn't work? Sure the HOA can't legally stop me, but I have to live with them, not OC. Whoever may have gotten this far, thank you for hearing my rant. Odds are you will have a fair experience but the truth is, most of these companies are interchangeable. They are all middle men and their strength and differences lie in the customer service and coordination. I didn't expect but solar buying is probably more similar to going to a car dealership. Do your research, advocate for yourself and don't get your hopes too high and it will probably be fine. As for OC, I think in the end they are just mediocre. They're like anyone else you may talk to. The processes are probably similar and I'm glad the system has worked well, which helps my scoring of this review. Maybe they just got lucky with me at the time, as I was getting fed up talking from one salesperson to the next and they price matched. I'm sure others will and can do the same so whoever you go with, as long as you are on top of it, it will go fine.
