Panels on my roof
Josh R.

Good experience with the company. PetersenDean installed an 18-panel 4.95 kWh microinverter system on my cement tile roof about 3 months ago. I was one of the first systems that their San Diego crew installed. I purchased the system with some nice financing that they set me up with. I chose them over 2 other companies because they use quality components, they had a competitive price (not the best, but within a grand) , they offered the best financing, and the company has been around for about 30 years (which means they should be around in the future if I ever need warranty work). The financing they offered (third party lender, but they heavily subsidized the rate) was amazing for a solar loan. 2.99% 12-year loan plus 12-month same as cash for the portion I will get back next year in federal tax credits. I couldn't find any other company that could offer below 7%. Not sure if they're still offering these terms, but you won't do better if you want to do the loan route. Communication was good overall. Project manager and salesman (Aveline and Jeff) both promptly answered any questions I had. The few problems I encountered during installation (example: inspector suckered them into making a hole in garage drywall for who knows what reason) were remedied quickly. It would have been nice if their engineering department had been able to get their plans to me earlier (took them 4 weeks). That way, I could have submitted the plans to my HOA for approval so that we could have finished the project by the end of 2014 to get the tax credit a year earlier.

These are just some of the 17 panels installed on our home. Thanks Izzy, Samuel and the whole Peterson Dean family.

My skylight had been installed incorrectly by another company, which was contributing to the moisture issue. Since skylight repairs can be a relatively small job, I found that not many reputable companies were interested in doing this type of work. I was very happy to find Sunline Energy. Juan handled the skylight and related roof and flashing repairs, and I can't say enough about the quality of his work. He is a perfectionist and took the time to make sure everything was done correctly. He went above and beyond and fixed both the skylight and surrounding roof area beyond my expectations. Based on my experience and the quality of Juan's work, I would highly recommend Sunline Energy to anyone needing skylight or related roof repairs.

Adding on after Sunline Energy's response: I did not mention the following yet it is important to do so, in 2024 3 roofing companies told me that the roof was past due on repair, I had mentioned what happened with Sunline Energy in 2023 and was told that your company as well as others install on roofs that are not healthy enough and even with replacement of shingles the plywood was not thick enough to support solar panels, in other words, Sunline never mentioned something that was felt just by walking on the roof, ethics should be as important as obtaining a sale because people work hard to keep there home maintained, honesty is the best policy, I understand that the company must achieve sales but situations as so are very disturbing, Sunline Energy continues to owe us $1,000 due to a deposit for a job that never took place.

I'm extremely disappointed with Stellar Solar and the lack of support I've received regarding the warranty on my solar system. Stellar Solar installed my system, including approximately 50 SunPower/Maxeon panels, in 2019. As the professional installer, I reasonably expected them to make sure the system and equipment were properly registered for the manufacturer's warranty--or, at the very least, clearly notify me that I was personally required to complete a separate registration within a specific time period. That apparently did not happen. The system was not registered in advance by Stellar Solar, and I was not adequately informed or assisted with completing the registration. Years later, when I actually need warranty coverage, I'm being told there is a registration problem and I am now having to fight to get the panels covered. This is incredibly frustrating. Customers spend tens of thousands of dollars on solar systems in part because of the long-term equipment warranties. An installer should have procedures in place to ensure its customers don't unknowingly lose warranty protection because of an administrative registration requirement. What has been most disappointing is the lack of meaningful assistance from Stellar Solar in resolving a problem involving a system they sold and installed. I shouldn't be left fighting this battle on my own years later. If you're considering Stellar Solar, I strongly recommend getting written confirmation that every component of your system has been properly registered with the manufacturer and obtaining copies of those registrations before considering the installation complete. Until Stellar Solar steps up and helps resolve this warranty issue, I cannot recommend them.

ABSOLUTELY THE PERFECT CHOICE FOR YOUR SOLAR & BACKUP BATTERY NEEDS…read more.. After getting bids from several companies, someone suggested I talk with SolarFuze before deciding which Solar company to choose for our solar and backup battery project. My wife and I are so very happy we selected SolarFuze to work on our La Mesa home. I am a bit analytical, do lots of research and ask lots of questions before selecting the right company for us. I am happy to report my wife and I found Farid and the wonderful team from SolarFuze to be trustworthy professionals who listen well, communicate well, and do great work. My wife and I are extremely pleased with Farid's integrity and transparency. Farid graduated from SDSU as an electrical engineer. So, he was especially excellent at explaining potential solutions that may better help in achieving our project goals: new more power producing solar panels (to replace old panels from 2010) plus an additional backup battery for even more energy storage. We use both batteries nightly during peak utility rate hours... one for household essentials and the other for household air conditioning (and to help add EV charging especially during hot weather summertime power blackouts). Here's The Bottom Line: look at all the Many Very Satisfied SolarFuze Customer Reviews here on Yelp. There is a reason SolarFuze receives so many superb reviews. Now, be sure to contact SolarFuze. My wife & I are so proud to highly recommend SolarFuze for any home or business solar project. It's very likely you too will feel that the SolarFuze team goes "above and beyond" to ensure your satisfaction.

I worked with Farid, who was attentive, knowledgeable, and engaged from our initial consultation through the completion of the project. The installation crew was highly efficient, and my system was completed in just two days. It would have been finished in one day if not for rainy weather that temporarily delayed the process. Farid was very transparent throughout the entire installation, keeping me informed every step of the way--there were no surprises. He personally handled all of the permits and inspections, and my permit to operate was approved by SDG&E within just four days. Farid was also very personable and always available by text or phone whenever I had questions. I was so impressed that I referred him to my next-door neighbor, who had their system installed just a few weeks later. They also shared how wonderful their experience with SolarFuze and Farid was. I highly recommend SolarFuze to anyone considering going solar!

Out of all the companies I contacted, San Diego Solar Install offered the best overall solar + battery package for the price. I initially reached out through their website and received a prompt response from Bruce, the owner. He's one of the rare solar professionals who truly cares about his customers rather than just making a sale. Chad, Ian, and the rest of the installation team did a meticulous job installing both the solar panels and batteries, all within a tight timeline. The quality of their work really shows--see the attached photos for yourself. As I'm writing this at night, my home is running entirely off the Enphase batteries with zero power being pulled from the grid, which really highlights how well the system is performing. The other Yelp reviews definitely don't lie!

Gemini AI helped me get an email contact up the chain at sunrun who I wrote a polite email to describing the problem below. I got a phone call in less than 30 minutes from a really nice woman saying she's a Solutions Expert from Sunrun and is giving me a full refund of my leasing fees for the days the system was completely down for no fault of my own. I requested they also update training for their support team to avoid this for people with equipment down more than a few days once the cause is known and no fault of the homeowner. Original review: Their equipment is too prone to failure and they don't fix it in a timely manner and stick you with all the electric costs while it's down AND still charge you for leasing fees even while totally worthless/down. You are stuck in a bad 30 year contract. More details if desired: Equipment went completely down on me after only 3 years on a brand new house, it took them way too long to fix (2 1/2 months) and they would not reemburse me for their leasing fees during the time it was down and I incurred SDGE electric costs far more than the leasing fees I asked to be reembursed very reasonable request. I've heard these system failures of the sunrun boxes in the garage are common. Sunrun contracts with worthless "guarantees" that are only reviewed every 2 years/not when there's a problem and production levels guaranteed over each 2 year period are way too low leaving you to pay for outages their fault. Sunrun phone and online chat would not do anything for me other than to point to above worthless contract clause and I couldnt get them to elevate my case up the management chain. I want to be fair to other solar companies in I'm not making a call on since depends on diff factors; but before you buy solar from any company, just be sure to get a quote for cleaning the panels every year to keep them producing what they should and understand latest laws on how much of the solar you're paying for goes to you vs the electric company unless you also buy a battery to store it for thousands of dollars.
