John and his team fixed our roof last year when we had a leak. He ended up having to fix a bigger section than seemed necessary. But we trusted his opinion on the matter. He seemed to do the job well at a relatively reasonable price. But less than a year later, we had our first hard rain and started to see some dripping inside around the area he had worked. The contract on the work said that it was guaranteed for a year. So, when I contacted him about it he came out to take a look. After having a quick inspection, but not really determining the source of the leak, he said he had to get some more roof tiles, or something, and then he would be back to get up there for a more thorough look. He blamed it on his team not being reliable when he trusts them to do a good job:( But since that meeting he has been M.I.A. I've called and emailed several times to get an update. But he never picks up or returns our calls/messages. I liked John while he was doing the work and I'd be happy to update this review if he would just make things right regarding the work that he guaranteed. read more

East County Roofing re-roofed our big commercial building in El Cajon. After the work was completed (for the next few years), we have had a number of leaks. Initially, John came out and tried to resolve the continued leaking problems. However, he seems to have given up. The building continues to leak, and although the work is under warranty, East County Roofing will not return calls to the building owner or management company, despite repeated attempts to reach them. Due to the extensive leaking, we are going to have to re-roof the entire building. I would not recommend this company. After initial attempts, the follow up was terrible. John came, carefully measured and appraised the cost of a total new roof, the old one was thirty years old, gave me a very reasonable estimate, and kept to that estimate when finished. Even though he added miscellaneous items needed as he went along. He worked in the heat of East County, including Saturday and Sunday (concerned because it might rain some, and it did Sunday) and passed inspection satisfactorily. The owner, John Wescott, was on the site working along side his workmen throughout the process to ensure it was completed as we wanted it. He and his workmen were all very attentive and polite. We opted for the GAF Timberline Extra Thick Ultra High Definition Shingles which come with a lifetime warranty by GAF. John with East County Roofing was our third estimate for upgrades to our concrete tile roof to accommodate solar panels. John's estimate was lower than the others and his recommendations were very logical, made good common sense. He was straight forward and honest, saving us several thousand dollars in unnecessary tile replacement by applying the old rule of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". His team completely removed all original concrete roof tiles, including several damaged tiles, replaced the underlay with a newer updated and heavier underlay and then was able to find replacement tiles that closely matched the ones that needed replacing. He also included 2 solar vent turbines with his work and we were very pleased with the outcome! We did have some minor "bumps" and issues with labor during the process but nobody's perfect, when John was made aware of any issues, he promptly took care of them and we would definitely call on East County Roofing for any future roofing issues or repairs! We came to like and appreciate John's honesty and overall judge him as a "good person"! read more

East County roofing did a good job once John got involved with it. They were supposed to show up on Monday but they had to finish up some jobs and would be Wednesday before they could start. Understandable. Wednesday one employee came out and started to tear off the flashing so the re-roof could start the next day. He left at noon and his tools were still on the roof. He came back at 3:00 picked up the tools and left with no word to me. I called John Wescott and he said that he would have 2 roofers out Thursday. The 2 roofers showed up about 8:00 and only worked until noon because one of them had a dentist appointment. They came out in one truck so the other couldn't stay and work the rest of the day. After I called John again he and 3 of his people came out on Friday and finished the roof. It rained that weekend and John came out on Sunday and patched a small leak we had and it has been fine ever since. The roof doesn't leak, it looks good, and the price was reasonable. I would recommend them because of the quality of the materials used, but have reservations about some of his employees. Once they finally started in earnest they did a good job. read more

I called this company during a rain storm on a Saturday. I fully expected to get a voicemail like all of the other roofers that I had called prior concerning my actively leaking roof. Not just a little leak either, you know, the kind that floods your whole living room carpet and drywall (Fun Stuff). To my surprise John answered and actually came out later that day to take a look at my roof. He didn't have all of the stuff necessary to fix my roof that day,which I didn't expect him to, but said that he would definitely be able to do it within the next few days. Every other roofer was giving me the 2-3 weeks speech, so I though a few days was pretty darn good. He contacted me shortly after he left and said that if I was willing he would come back Sunday morning(the following day) to make the necessary repairs. Totally unexpected, but very much appreciated.
