The project started out fine at first-I sent Jeremiah a couple of pictures of a small roof that needed new shingles and he gave me a good price. The first problem I had with him was when he asked for more money. I was planning on giving him a tip anyway, but asking for more money when a price was agreed upon in advance in my experience is a bad approach to doing business. After several delays, he finally finished just before a rainstorm set in. The roof leaked, and not only did he decide it was more important to get new tires on his truck than repairing his faulty work, but in the discussions we had by text (he wouldn't take my phone calls) he called me a dumb ass and a little b**ch! I have been a licensed contractor for 53 years and have never been treated like this by any of my customers or fellow contractors. I have seen his other reviews and I'm sure the meltdown he had isn't a regular occurrence, but he does seem to have anger issues. read more

Last year, Nolanco Roofing replaced a very old, flat roof on my California Room. I found Jeremiah pleasant, dependable, and a very honest businessman. His price was reasonable, and the roof of that room looks wonderful! Because of my wonderful experience with him and his company last year, his company was who I called a few weeks ago to get my house's roof totally replaced since it was quite clear that it was on it's way out. Jeremiah promptly sent out Thomas to measure everything and to give me the estimate. The estimate came in at my expectations. Because I already knew that I was dealing with honest people, I must admit that I didn't do what consumers are supposed to do and get more bids. Because another customer rescheduled their project with them, they were able to start work on my roof immediately. They showed up promptly to clear off the old roof, and it was done quickly. They did a nice job cleaning up after themselves. Then, Jeremiah again proved to me how honest he is. First of all, he told me that it is very uncommon to not have to replace any of the boards on the roof but yet I had none that needed to be replaced. Also, when I thought that my fascia boards might need to be replaced by them because they were looking ratty, he told me that they had inspected every board and all were in good condition and did not need to be replaced; they just needed to be painted. Basically, he did not try at all to sell me something that I did not need. My final cost was what the estimate was. That said, my situation was unusual because everything was still in good condition, and another customer might not have everything in good condition which would increase the cost. If that happens, though, with Nolanco you can be assured that what they say needs to be replaced really does need to be replaced. Alex, the roofer did an excellent job of installing the roof. I have already referred my sister to them to do her house. Because of termite damage, she will need a lot of boards replaced. In that case, her price will be higher than the estimate, but I have no doubt that what they charge her for replacing boards will be a fair and competitive price. In case you can't tell, I highly recommend Nolanco for your roofing needs. BTW, I did learn the hard way that you should clap if you want the roofer's attention and not just start talking to him. Alex didn't know that I was there until I startled him by talking to him. He almost fell backwards off of the roof, but fortunately he was able to balance himself. Sorry, Alex! They did great and on time and on budget. A real nice surprise today as the project manager Adam Baker worked to insure we were water tight before rains . The whole project involved removal,woodwork and the roof replacement. We couldn't have been happier with the whole crew . I went with Nolanco based upon Yelp reviews and I was extremely pleased. Tom came out to do the bid and I was sold upon his professionalism. Part of my roof has a low pitch, so I went with a white TPO rubberized product, as opposed to traditional rolled roofing. Unfortunately, during the middle of the job a large storm hit and my roof began to leak into my living room. I called Jeremiah at 1 in the morning and he came out thirty minutes later, went onto my roof, and fixed the tarp that had partially blown off, which is what caused the leak. He assured me if there was any damage to the interior of my house he would notify his insurance company, who would pay for the damage. Luckily there wasn't any damage. The crew was very efficient and clean. They thoroughly cleaned the job site after each day of work. The end product was outstanding and the overall cost was very competitive. The project coincided with having solar installed by another company, which caused some hiccups; however, Jeremiah worked well with the solar company. I highly recommend this company! read more

I am so happy to say that Nolanco Roofing installed a new roof on my house, it needed it badly for years. I recently purchased the home from my parents and am giving the house the attention it deserves as we literally had the worst roof in the area for miles. Jeremiah Nolan (the owner) came out, gave me a quote and an honest assessment of the house and I felt really comfortable making a deal with him. I was apprehensive getting the work done as my elderly mother is at the house and I didn't want to disrupt her too badly and he was sensitive to the situation which I thought was pretty cool. I had dealt with another very well known roofer in the neighborhood who tried to upsell me on things that I didn't need and quoted me over $5k higher than Nolanco's quote. His crew are some of the hardest workers I've seen and I work for a contractor so I know when people are really giving their all. I now have THE BEST LOOKING ROOF for miles, their workmanship, attention to detail along with Jeremiah's elite customer service has been beyond what I could have hoped for. I have since hired him back for a side job and although it was out of the scope of his normal work, another great job was performed by a licensed contractor and by a group of people who I feel really comfortable having at the house. Review revision 9/18/16. Since my initial review Tom and I connected after some delays and communication technical difficulties which resulted in him not showing up. We rescheduled his estimate. I wasn't home at the time he came by but my wife indicated that he was courteous, conscientious, and professional in his demeanor. At the time of this revised review, we're still in the down-select process to pick a roofer but wanted to update the review based on the new info. I initially reached out to Tom because of the high percentage of favorable reviews. Unfortunately I don't have a favorable review to add because at the agreed upon appointment we made (8/26/16) for him to provide an estimate on my patio cover repair, he was a no-show and did not call. I understand that things happen but in this day and age of cell phones, texting, etc., that's an unacceptable combination. Six years ago Jeremiah and his crew did excellent work on the gable roof of our historic Ocean Beach cottage, so when the attached granny apartment needed its flat roof replaced we went with Nolanco again. Their performance was just what you want with a roofing company. They communicated well with us and the renters in the granny flat. They dealt with a complex parking situation without provoking the neighbors which can be an intense issue in the Beach Area. Clean up was spot on. Rude, Unprofessional. They fixed our roof and it continued to leak . We called to get it re-fixed after just being fixed and they refused to re-fix the leak they were supposed to fix originally! They continued to refuse our call for service but insisted we pay for the broken roof that was supposed to be repaired, but don't want to properly fix it. This company is perfect if you want a leak stopped for 10 hours! Just don't expect them to fix the leak you originally asked them to, they never fix what you pay for then want the payments (: I mean, unless you have money to just throw away this is perfect. Phenomenal roofer! I got FOUR estimates, all from well-known, well-respected roofers in the industry, and this guy blew them all away. He thoroughly explains what he does and shows photos of your work as it progresses so you know what is actually being done. My roof was already leaking in August, during our mild rains, and I was overdue to have the whole roof replaced. Jeremiah removed six layers of flat roof on my 80-year-old house and removed the tile on the front (which hadn't been replaced AT ALL in 80 years). The work was flawless, neat and done with perfection! Even the tile replacement was perfect - looks like it was never touched and the Mills Act folks will love it. I even had foam board insulation put on my flat roof and extra tile edging all the way around. My neighbors thought I spent way more than I did. They were amazed at the quality job - and many had already had their roofs done, so they were awed by the quality. The work was done in a timely manner and clean-up was superb. Do yourself a favor, and make sure this man is in your lineup of estimates!! He's also a nice guy, to boot. You won't be sorry. 3-9-13 I am adding this update. I got bids from 3 different contractors, and I went with Nolanco because their bid included details on better materials and better strategies for dealing with some of the problem areas in my complicated roof. I just walked my completed roof, and the results are outstanding. Areas that have leaked in the past now look like you could dam them up and go for a swim, with top quality materials and metal sheeting in strategic areas to guide the water off the roof. While the bid they gave included the better paper, better TPO, and longer warranties, they went above and beyond what they specified, with extremely well done additional details designed to address the oddities of my roof, all at no additional cost over the initial bid. In order to hire Thomas, he would have to show up for the appointment time the company set. He didn't show up and when I called to ask if he was coming, he claimed that he tried to call me several times and that my voice mail was full. Not true. I had no missed calls and I checked my voice mail and it wasn't full. So I called him anyway and asked if he planned on still coming. He said that his other appoint near me had been canceled so he wanted to reschedule mine. He tried to reschedule for the next day and that wasn't going to work for me. I had already wasted 3 hours of my morning in driving time and waiting for him. He then said that he would drop everything and drive the 40 minutes to get to my house. I texted him as soon as we hung up and told him to not bother coming because I had other bids from roofing companies who are professional and with integrity. Thomas has the audacity to leave me a VM, chewing me out for not telling him to come when we were on the phone. Terrible customer service and needs to learn how to apologize when he makes a mistake. Humility goes a long way in promoting good relations. So, in a not shell, based on this initial experience, I would never use this company. Can't really comment on quality of work but reliability is a huge part of it. read more
