My son and I went here couple of weeks ago. The service was spot on and the food was solidly good! My son had the Alameda, a tall construction of French toast, I believe, eggs and meat. He moaned while eating it, a very good indicator that he was in food heaven. I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon which was fine, but like another reader said, could have benefited from more Hollandaise. read more

Chaotic! We made a reservation to this place. We reached in time. We got sorted immediately inside. We came to know there was outside sitting available but they didn't inform on phone which we would have preferred. Menu handover was quick, ordered food in 5 minutes. After that we sitting hungry and waiting for 30 minutes to get food & in total 45 minutes since we got sitting. Made us cranky. People were really nice and friendly. Homemade sauce was beautiful. Hopefully it is just 1 off and you get better experience. read more

We had a perfectly wonderful experience for dinner here tonight. The food was well prepared and delicious, the presentation was exquisite, portions were generous, staff was attentive, and service was excellent. Cocktails were perfect. It felt very high end, without high end prices. Clearly the owners care a lot about making customers happy and satisfied. Looking at the breakfast and lunch menus, I wonder what the "three toppings" are in the create-your-own-omelet. PS It's an odd thing to see "these reviews aren't recommended" at the end of reviews here, as they tend to be appropriate. Maybe they're first-time reviews or suspect for some reason. I enjoyed reading them too. Dinner has only been served here for a couple of months so it's not crowded. Am happy that this former Sunnyside Cafe location has transitioned into another special place to eat. read more

I've been going to this place for a few years now and they have consistently had very good food and service. I always get one of their breakfasts, usually eggs Benedict, and my friend gets lunch. My friend is the type that has to have his food made a special way i.e. fries done extra crispy, no Mayo, spicy mustard only, and they always accommodate. Plus they have a full bar! read more

The service was great. Food was great. Food came out relatively quickly. Portions were small.

My husband and I came for a brunch on a Friday around 11:30, and sat outside. We chose to soak up the sun, but they offered to put up the umbrella for us. We ordered the Alameda and California Style Chicken Sandwich, and we loved both! Service was great, and we love the outdoor dining. Looking forward to checking out their dinner service and their happy hour which they said they were planning to bring back on Sept 12, from 3-5pm. read more

I went to Solano Junction with my family for the first time today and was very impressed. Dave who I think is the owner, greeted me warmly while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. He served me this nice Chamomile tea. I ordered the pigs in blankets with chicken apple sausage and a side of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. The kid's version is called piggy in blanket, very cute, but just know instead of 2 pigs in blankets, it's just one. But it was still was a lot for my 5 year old, not complaining though. My sister ordered the make it yourself omelette with cheddar and spinach and roasted potatoes, which she loved and it looked great. My sister in law ordered the pancakes which were the same ones used in my pigs in blankets. The pancakes were large and fluffy and I had to keep adding syrup because they deliciously absorbed it. The place was clean, with a private bathroom and indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly. read more

LOVED the hospitality! Friendly and funny.

This was a great place for breakfast. When we picked up our food, the lady helping us was very personable and hospitable. Super friendly, we might come back just to say hello to this nice local business neighbor! I got the power up bowl. The seasoning of the potatoes and proportions of the eggs, potatoes and salad were great. So glad for the hot sauce (and extra hot sauce). We'll be coming back again! read more

Good food, honestly made, with the best service. We were wanting not to cook at home and honestly we were not expecting much. Well we were quite pleasantly surprised when the cappuccino we ordered was perfect, this set the pace for the rest of the mean. The huevos rancheros were great as was the home made hot sauce that had excellent heat as well as flavor. 5/5 would recommend. read more

Excellent omelette! Not greasy, full of the fillings you select. Comes with toast of your choice and either a side of potatoes or fruit. They have chicken apple sausage which I love. Pancakes were also tasty. Great breakfast spot! read more

Yummy tofu scramble and very good coffee and service! Nice atmosphere and full bar. Highly recommend for brunch.

We liked the menu, so we dropped by to check it out. The place used to be Sunny Side cafe and was ok. But this is really really way better. We had fairly simple stuff - huevos rancheros and pigs in a blanket. Excellently plated, and so delicious! Someone walking by on the sidewalk even remarked on it. read more

We love the new owners and excellent food at Solano Junction (formerly Sunnyside Up). The patio outside is open and lovely. We enjoyed great Bloody Marys, served with bacon, fluffy buttermilk pancakes with fruit, and chicken apple sausages. Also, their Eegs Benedict is delicious. The very first place a friend and I came for dinner after COVID-19 had us all living like hermits. About the best pasta I think I've had in years. What a great place to have breakfast on Solano! This spot has really tasty breakfast food with lots of options (but not too many)! This food is absolutely delicious without all the fuss and long wait times that some Berkeley breakfast restaurants flaunt. My family and I sat outside in their parklet. The staff was excellent! the restaurant owner or manager checked in with us in the middle of the meal and he asked us personally about our meal and how everything was going. This is the first time that I've experienced that small town feel at a breakfast restaurant in the Bay Area. Everyone had such a sweet and neighborly demeanor! Great people, great food. What an excellent small business to support and enjoy! read more

Super good definitely recommend this spot...as u could see we couldn't wait to dig in before taking a pic for the review. For the drinks we got a strawberry lemonade which was delicious and regular lemonade. For food we got a breakfast sandwich and scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes sourdough toast and chicken Apple sausage which was very tasty. We will definitely be back soon. read more

Our family ate lunch at Solano Junction today. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were also very delicious! We really enjoyed our time there. Several hours after we ate there my 3 year old daughter realized that she left her new favorite necklace on the table. We called the restaurant, and they had it! They even waited for us to come back and get it even though they were already closed. I felt these people were very kind. I'm grateful for them. read more

If you haven't had a chance to try this restaurant after their change of ownership, please treat yourself. We had such a lovely outdoor brunch, with wonderful wait staff. The food was fantastic and we felt safe and taken care of. Its hard for our businesses to manage right now - and this spot in particular doesn't have the opportunity to take over more parking areas for additional seats, so let's support their efforts with takeout and dine outside when possible! read more

I loved it! We had a great time and a great meal. I had their strawberry mimosa and sweet crepes. They were delicious and not too sweet. The staff was very friendly and even gave my sister an extra perfectly seasoned homemade sausage after a bee got on her plate. Their pancakes were nice and fluffy. I couldn't help but steal some from my sister as well. Can't wait to come back again! read more

New name and new owners - better service and good food. Been coming to this restaurant for 4 years - The menu has just enough options for everybody to be happy and the food quality is consistent and good. read more

Solano Junction is already a popular breakfast and brunch spot with a delicious menu that includes an array of lovely mimosas made with fresh squeezed orange juice. Now open for dinner, my husband and I stopped by last night to to give it a try. First, we over ordered and shared; appetizers of jalapeño poppers and drinks. The owner made me a peach flavored lemon drop that I requested and he made up (amazing) and my husband found a new beer that he is now obsessed with (Alluvium Pilsner). Then Spaghetti Carbonara and a New Your Steak with another appetizer of fries on the side ...followed up with a Creme Brûlée. The owner shared his wonderful home made hot sauce from Nepal during the meal. Service was outstanding and the staff was friendly. The Chef and co-owner came out to meat us and check on the satisfaction of our meal. A full bar, Delicious food and great people...we view this place as a new neighborhood gem, We enjoyed and loved it all. We plan on being regulars and will share it with our friends and family, read more

My favorite spot for Sunday brunch! The fresh squeezed OJ is actually fresh squeezed! Highly recommend

I was searching for a place to have breakfast after church for 20+ people. I had been to several places in Oakland, Alameda, and Berkeley but none of them were accommodating for such a large group on a Sunday morning. I was googling places for a final attempt on Friday afternoon while in Albany and Solano Junction came up, so I decided to check them out. First impression - The hostess greeted us upon entry, I mentioned I was looking for somewhere to come on Sunday with a group. We took a seat at the counter and the owner immediately came to welcome us. I shared my dilemma with Dev, and he emphatically listened and said while they do not take reservations for large groups, he would do his best to welcome us if we could arrive all at the same time. I began to take notice of the wait staff and customer interaction, they all seemed equally happy to be there. (*****) The Food- While everyone was friendly the real decision would be determined by the food, so we ordered French toast, side of chorizo and the owner brought over a side of potatoes for us to taste. Everything was delicious, the French toast came with fresh berries, and homemade jam, the sausage was perfectly grilled, and the potatoes were yummy. I instantly became excited at the possibility of having breakfast with the group in this newfound gem. (*****) Well Sunday everyone arrived promptly at 10 and the group was seated on arrival, the orders were taken, and food was delivered in an efficient and timely manner. I ordered the blueberry pancakes; side of bacon and I could hardly believe they were even better than the French toast I had previously. The other high five would be the price point was very reasonable for what you get. (*****) Everyone ate and enjoyed the space; at departure, the consensus was that Solano Junction was an Excellent Choice for Great Food and Great Service. Thank you, Dev, and your top tier staff for being so accommodating and providing us with such an AWESOME Sunday! From Newest Member of your Fan / Frequent Customer Club In Gratitude, SB read more

V good food and wonderful service. Would definitely be back to this place.Classic Eggs Benedict

Breakfast was hella good, one of my favorite Breakfast spots in the bay. Chocolate chip waffle with maple syrup go crazy!!!

While visiting the UC Berkeley area , we happened upon Solano Junction. The owners are perfectly lovely, and it the day was perfect for sitting outside. I highly recommend the Eggs Florentine with it's divine hollandaise done right. I hated leaving some of the garlic roasted tomato behind. Be sure to ask for some of the house made hot sauce - the recipe is Nepalese ! We will definitely return next time we're in the area. read more

Lovely I was interested to see the new restaurant that had opened up in this spot on Solano. I ordered the asparagus salad as well as the New York state. I paired that with a lovely glass of Pinot Noir. Everything was wonderful. The asparagus was soft but crispy not overcooked at all really high quality produce was used throughout the salad I enjoyed every bite. The staff was both friendly and efficient. It's sucha pleasure to have a new spot for a nice meal. read more

We've only had dinner here (outside once, takeout once). The salmon is a standout dish - cooked perfectly, with a delicious combination of veg and Israeli couscous. Kid enjoys the gigantic burger, and the nibble I had was yummy. Great, well-balanced cocktails too, although a little unstrained ice got into my drink. For outside dining there are a few tables in front, no heaters the last time I was there. Great place, we'll be back and I would love to try brunch here sometime! read more

What a disappointment! After reading over 60 five star reviews, I couldn't wait to try this place. The presentation of our breakfast was completely lackluster. We asked for well done bacon and got something way too close to raw. Will not come here again. read more

Perfect spot to wake up and start the day. Loved my eggs Benedict, and had a great mocha. Everyone was so friendly and I always love when a place has music videos on in the background. This was our first time here since the ownership changed new hands. The food was fresher, better prepared, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive.
