I requested a price quote for both delivery and pickup. The response I received stated: 1/4 cord + delivery + taxes = $183.81 1/4 cord + pickup + taxes = $264.91 Naturally, this didn't seem correct, so in my reply I mentioned the price that Alana Robinson had previously provided. She responded with available delivery dates and didn't correct the pricing, so I assumed the quoted amount was accurate. Her next message included: "We can leave the wood on the driveway. We only take cash or check--could you leave payment under a mat?" I agreed and asked who the check should be made out to. She replied: "I'll put you down for a Friday delivery. Did you want Oak or Almond wood? Please provide your address and best contact number. Checks are payable to Rich Mariani." I again confirmed and provided the information. She responded: "Perfect, I'll get your receipt written up and sent over." About ten minutes later, she sent another email stating: "I just realized I put the numbers in backwards--I apologize. It should be: 1/4 cord + delivery + taxes = $264.91 1/4 cord + pickup + taxes = $183.81 So for delivery, it'll be $264.91." This correction came after eight emails, despite my mentioning the price discrepancy twice earlier. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if I hadn't noticed that she had misread my previous emails. read more

I found it was best to email Solano Firewood off of Yelp. I got an immediate response from them and they scheduled my delivery the next day. They were a bit pricey for a cord of almond, but the wood looked seasoned, of good quality, and they delivered a solid heavy cord of wood. Run a grassroots nonprofit and use wood fired pizza to teach about life. So needless to say, without a hot fire, my nonprofit cannot function. I ran across Rich and Terri and they have been such a great team to work with. Terri handles the administrative side of things and Rich oversees the entire operation. Baby... It's cold outside! And it's going to get colder! Time to order wood for the fireplace. After a quick search on Yelp & Google, I made a few phone calls and decided to go with Don at Solano Fire Wood. After a brief discussion about the options available, I decided on his recommendation of the seasoned English Walnut. A full cord of wood is measured out as 4 feet wide, 4 feet high & 8 feet long. That's a bit much for my needs. I decided on a 1/2 a cord to be delivered. I was given a drop off window of time for a Tues. morning of 9:30-10:30. That time came & went. I was beginning to wonder if he took my delivery to another house. I gave Don a call & was told that my wood be delivered that afternoon closer to 2:30. Ugh! Really? No courtesy call to let me know how late he was running? That was not going to work for me. I expressed my my frustration & disappointment. After he apologized, we agreed to a new day, new time. And he delivered! My wood came Friday morning on time. Don dumped it in my driveway where I asked. The sizes were cut perfectly. Nice, dry seasoned wood. He threw in a couple buckets of kindling and some extra wood for my troubles. I thought that was good customer service. The total cost was $253. That included tax & delivery. They also offer a service of stacking the wood for you. That's an additional $45. Took me 2 hrs. to stack it on my own. It was a good workout, however next time I may just take advantage of that! read more

Wet wood. We bought a cord of wood, spent a lot of money and the wood was wet. I have to go through a bunch of kindling to even get it going. After a few fires I was pissed, so I finally got my ax out and split the wood and what do you know it was wet in the center. Never again, really disappointed. read more

I recommend Solano Firewood for the best variety of woods. They have several wood options for you to choose from and Rich is very informative on what woods are good for different uses. They are way to expensive. I can actually get firewood cheaper in the Bay Area. For small quantities, they are just as expensive as the same quality firewood in Lucky's or Safeway. 1/12/17 One would think that you'd get a better price by going to the source. Not the case here. Their bundles are actually more expensive than Lucky's or Safeway. I will not be going there again, ever! read more

I have used Solano Firewood for my last 4 cords and was very pleased with the first two. I had a hiccup with the third with how it was delivered but was compensated for the problem. The fourth however was a bit of a mess. I contacted them and they worked very hard to make sure I was satisfied!! Terry who runs the office is AMAZING, she goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy! Rich the owner, was great. When he found out that I had problem, he took the time to solve it and made me feel good about doing business with them. I would definitely recommend getting all of your firewood needs from here. Called this morning and spoke to Don to get some prices and time frames for delivery. Not only did I get great customer service from him but his prices were definitely competitive. Decided to get 1/8 of a cord of wood and went to Solano Firewood to pick it up since I was out and about with a mile long list of things to do. Don was able to do a same day delivery and is also open on Saturday. There were two other people helping him out and they were very nice and friendly. My truck was loaded and I was on my way. I will be giving him a call for a cord delivery as soon as we are fully settled in our new home. I would highly recommend them to others in need of wood. A different firewood provider will DELIVER firewood to my for cheaper than Solano would do for me PICKING IT UP. I am going to go pick up wood at the other place for OVER $100 LESS than SolanoFirewood's pick up price. Seems to me like they need to do some research on competitive pricing. Great selection of well seasoned firewood. Don was extremely helpful in advising on what burned hottest, longest, least ash, aroma, etc. Also helped load our SUV for us to take home. Returned needing a new chopping block and he just gave it to us since we already had bought a load from them. Size of partial cords were generous. Great family-run business. They let the piles of wood dry during the summer, then cover them during the rainy season to keep them dry. We have ordered firewood from Solano Firewood for many years. There are always full-cords of wood delivered. The product is dry, perfectly cut, completely split and ready to use. Delivery is always spot-on. Rich does a great job of updating and verifying the delivery process. Rich and the employees are helpful and the ordering and delivery process is dependable. I have checked vendors for miles around and Solano Firewood is one of the few that delivers full-cords of great firewood.
