When my system was installed about 18 months ago the installation went well. You can always tell the truth of a company based on what happens "after" the sale. We spent close to 50k on solar panels. Our inverter went out late August. They sent out a tech to try to fix it several times. The fix would last a few days then fail. We were finally approved for a new inverter. We had to wait for the warranty to be approved then the unit to be delivered then for it to be installed. We lost the ability to generate energy on and off until last week. (Aug-Nov) When I asked to be compensated for the loss of the ability to generate power due to faulty equipment I was told that the company would look into it and ask management. I was contacted today that $69.00 is all that was approved. So from late August to the end of November we were not generating power from the panels consistently. We were patient waiting for a fix and to be told $69 is disappointing today the least. Please be careful when considering to do business with this company. I understand needing to take time to fix an issue but not to help the customer with the loss of solar for over three months isn't how you take care of customers. I wouldn't recommend them.

Conversation between the manager and I. They uploaded out of order but are numbered for clarity.

I reached out to multiple solar companies for a quote on March 19th, explaining that I was price comparing to Ion Solar. I received an initial response from Destiny the next morning (3/20), which was great. They asked questions to be able to build a quote which I answered right away. She then said that they have a showroom and I asked the hours it was open. I did not commit to any appointment at the showroom. She followed up with me again in the afternoon on Friday, but I was unpacking so I didn't respond. I assumed since I answered all the questions that she would email me the quote. I didn't hear anything back so I went forward with Ion Solar (for multiple reasons, primarily pricing and equipment). I received a call from Destiny yesterday (3/27) asking if I'd like to come in and review the quote. I explained that since I hadn't heard back from her I already moved forward with Ion, she thanked me and that was that. Or so I thought. She then told me that her manager wanted to earn my business and be reached out. See screenshots. This manager is condescending as hell.

My husband and I have done a lot of research on solar companies in Las Vegas. We finally decided to stop by Sol-Up's on-site location near Dean Martin and the Flamingo/I15 exit. We had scheduled an appointment for 5:30 P.M. on a Thursday, but arrived slightly earlier around 5:00 P.M! The team member at the front welcomed us and checked us in. We were then provided a tour of Sol-Up. We got to see a variety of their solar panels and how it would be placed on the roof. During the tour, we also got a chance to see all of the plugin electric capabilities that Sol-Up offered and even some of the electric bikes! It was pretty cool! After the tour, we sat down with the sales representative to go over the NV energy analysis and the type of panels Sol-up offered. We were there on-site for a few hours, going through all of the different options and technologies! From there, we scheduled a site-visit assessment at our house to take a look at the roof and confirm if the solar panel layout, initially discussed, would work. The team member who came out to our house was fantastic! He let us know that the initial design wouldn't work but provided a recommendation with changing some of the panel locations or potentially even different panel sizes! We had such a wonderful experience with Sol-Up! Sol-Up is one of the longest operating solar companies in Las Vegas, and Sol-Up also operates in California! I highly recommend this company if you're looking at solar options!

UPDATE: Guess What? Sol-Up NOW does windows and doors. Same company, Same Guy, Frank, in charge. Michael Sweet handles the Door/Windows install set-up. They use TOP-OF-THE-LINE products and the Installers are Perfectionist. The wife and I couldn't be happier with our Brand New Provia Door and Storm Door install. We now have natural light into our previously "dark entrance way" and it brightens the entire house. If you're looking for Solar or Window/Door installers, save yourself the time and effort and GET THE BEST IN THE VEGAS AREA (we are in Henderson) The service after the sale is unbelievable. Sol-Up set-up processes are simple and they're in touch with you routinely throughout the whole process and even after it's done to make sure that you're 110% satisfied. https://solup.com/

They do have polite people and do decent work but I did not have a good experience with their repair business. An annual inspection turned up a couple of small problems - low refrigerant in a system and a nearly failed condenser fan in another. No argument with that conclusion so I said go ahead with fixes. Got the invoice and should have paid more attention - a price gouge of epic proportions. Here's what I sent them that got rejected by their system: PS - registered professional engineer who should have paid more attention. 'I was not here when this work was finished, and I have no issue at all with the technician and work performed. He was professional. I agreed to all of the work. But I regret now not doing additional homework on the cost. A one pound 410a add should cost more like $100 at the high end all in. Easy to find on google or Yelp), given you can get a 25 lb Jug in the range of $250. And yes, there is labor and overhead in that , but for for a 30 minute job $325 seems excessive. I also was able to source the replacement fan motor with an identical Lennox model# from a number of sources- from around $200. Again, that doesn't include labor. So if I'm generous, you got $300 in parts, add 20% for miscellaneous. And yes, I get that there is 'Bob's guarantee' and you have overhead, but an 1800+ bill for less than two labor hours of work, make it 3 with travel time and even at 150 per hour - and maybe 450 in parts and material -the total markup at 2x is to me excessive. Plus your billing is deficient in the level of detail so it's even hard to understand how you could add it up to that much. My wife paid the bill of course, but with these prices even though the service is good I won't be using or recommending Bobs for repairs in the future. I'll do my homework.' PS - last postscript. You may have noticed Bob's no longer responds to Yelp reviews. Must be too busy. Or they don't care. Neither one is a good sign.

Both reviewers rated Robco as excellent, 5 of 5. Robco has a Yelp score of 4.7, based on 272 reviews. I was impressed by the enthusiasm any of the positive Robco reviews. We decided to go with Robco Electric, mostly because of their raving online reviews. Robco installs Q Cells panels, manufactured by a Korean company (I don't know if they use parts made in China). Their price was in line with the other installers with just over $24,000 upfront cost, with a net cost of just over $17,000 after the 30% federal tax credit. Our payback period was computed as 7 years, 11 months. I'm not sure we'll be living here long enough to realize the benefit, but supposedly solar panels add about 4% to the selling price of a home. Robco installed our panels just over two years ago, and after installation of the two-way meter and the Nevada Power inspection we were generating electric power and selling our excess back to the grid. Our system is rated at 8075Kwh, so we paid $3.02/Kwh before the tax credit, $2.11/Kwh after the credit. Since Nevada Power has been very aggressive about raising rates, our payback period will be somewhat less than estimated, which is great, I guess. I recently contacted Robco to see how they were doing. Their office manager was optimistic that the the "Big Beautiful Bill" eliminating the credit for solar installations would not destroy their business. He stated that even without the tax credit, solar was still justified in Las Vegas, since we get so much sun.

My 7.54kW system used 29 - 260W LG panels split into 2 arrays and utilized both M215 and M250 Enphase microinverters. The reason I wanted to try 2 different microinverters was to compare the performance. In the end, it really didn't matter much. Bottom line, shading and weather were the dominate factors in power generation and all the crazy details I looked at were in the noise. It was still fun at the time. So 6+ years after having this system installed on my roof, I have had ZERO problems (kudos to LA Solar Group and the quality of the hardware). My system has produced over 72 MegaWatt-Hours of power and each and every solar panel and microinverter has reported data (input voltage/current, output voltgae/frequency, and power) from day one over that period of time. This telemetry allows me to see exactly what's going on in my system and if any one of the 29 panel/microinverters acts up, I will know. My system has already paid for itself based on my calculations, so I am a very happy customer. In addition, when I have questions for the LA Solar team, I still get answers. Highly recommended. With the cost of solar dropping in price over the years, it's really a no-brainer.

The 6.8 KW (peak) solar system that these folks installed for me really rocks! So if you are…read moreplanning to install a solar system, look no further and hire this company. I say this because I did my homework right and had obtained over six estimates, and this company beat all the other five not only on price and quality, but also on other (rather important) things as you can see below. 1. Price: This company beat all the others by nearly 20%, and all the other five estimates came very close to one another to the point where I was suspecting that there is some sort of illegal "price fixing" that is rampant industry-wide, but not for this company since it came far away (and below) all the others. 2. Equipment Quality: The system they installed was the most advanced compared to all the other bids. It used higher-end Panasonic panels, and Enphase micro-inverters and combiner. Others bid for lesser-quality no-name panels with one string inverter and a set of optimizers. After much research, I think a micro-inverter based system is superior to the string-inverter based system (so don't listen to the confusing information you find on the web, which portrays the two types of systems as being "equivalent"). So with a total of just 20 panels, my projected annual solar energy production should be about one and a half times my consumption. This should bring down my PG&E bill to the minimum $10/month, and should be able to provide all the electric energy needed for an extra electric car I may purchase in the future. 3. System design: This company had the most precise and realistic design, and that is very important because some of the bids I received were not realistic as they sketched more panels on my South-facing side of the roof than that side could possibly fit. This inflates the projected energy production, but is NOT realistic. In my case, the optimal design was to use the Southern-facing and Eastern-facing sides of the roof and to arrange the panels 50/50 on both sides. This company nailed the design right, but other bids like I said was either plain wrong, or were not realistic. With this design I was able to get a peak production of 6.2 KW, which is close to the theoretical 6.8 KW peak (the difference being mostly due to the orientation of my house). 4. Consumption and Net Monitoring: Most contractors let you monitor ONLY the energy production of your solar system, but this company gave me the ability to monitor the CONSUMPTION of energy by my house and the net energy exchanged between me and utility company on an instantaneous basis (actually every 15 minutes) and on the same Enlighten App as shown in the picture. This is really useful if you would like to do any energy planning in your house to see who/what is really consuming electricity. Granted that you can see the consumption on your utility website, but that data is one or two days delayed and does not show up in the same view as the production, and these two problems make the data from the utility company useless for that purpose. 5. Other: All the folks of the company I have dealt with are ethical in their dealing and are reasonable. The company installed the system in two days, which is very quick. Getting the consumption monitoring to work correctly took a while longer though.

They said altogether it would cost around $20,000 and that we would have zero payments for the first 2 years interest-free. So he got my sister to go with them for solar as well. We got our solar panels installed first, before my sister, but my sisters system was up and running weeks before ours. What was the issue, you may ask, I don't even know. Now for the real problems. (Full disclosure: My dad didn't read the contract before signing, so we take some responsibility for what followed, but they still lied to us.) They said it would cost around $20,000. I got a notification a few months after getting the solar up and running that I had a loan for about $53,000! I looked into it and it was for the solar! We contacted them and they said the system cost $53,000 but that with the solar tax credit we would get 30% back when filing for out taxes. They said word for word that we would get a check for $15,000 when filing and claiming the tax credit. But $53,000 minus $15,000 is $38,000 which is $18,000 more than they said it would be. When asked about it, they said they upgraded the system, which is why it was more expensive, but they never discussed an upgrade with my dad. Cut forward to me and my sister trying to file our taxes and surprise surprise, I don't get the $15,000 for the solar because it is a credit, not a refund and nor does she. You can only be credited for the taxes you paid but can't get reimbursed for any more than that. We call them up and they say they will try and help us figure it out. Rhe guy that told me I would get a check then changes his story and says that sometimes if you don't owe enough taxes it will carryover for the next year, but that is noylt what he told me originally. They then proceed to give us the run around and then say it's illegal for them to give tax advice. He then says he isn't an accountant but other customers he's had that had multiple people living on the property have been added to the contract so they can claim the credit too. (This sounds illegal because if only one parent can claim a child then why can multiple claim a solar tax credit but whatever.) At this point my sister calls him out for not knowing what he is doing, to which I proceed to say he does know what he's doing which is scamming and lying to people to get money. Also they originally pitched 2 years no payments but 1 year after installation I got a statement saying payments would be starting. When I called them to ask, he said that originally it was 2 years, but because of the upgrade(that we weren't aware of) it changed back to 1. WHAT? How does that make sense and why didn't they tell us beforehand? Long story short, DO NOT GO WITH THESE PEOPLE! They are liars. They change their stories and give you the run around.
