Got takeout, took forever and it was only a salad and a burger. They didn't give us any of the sauces or dressings that we requested and gave extremely small portions. I usually love their food but would not recommend take out at all :(

The Cuban Sandwich

Sol was my go to place when I was staying in Athens. They have a good variety of dishes to choose from, so I guess you could say there's something for everyone here. I've tried the cuban sandwich and the el jefe burger. Both were decent and super affordable. Only bad part was when they ran out of jalapenos for my jefe burger, but they communicated that to me so I didn't mind. They are still opened for delivery and takeout. I recommend checking them out if you are looking for a simple and affordable meal!

This milk was delivered and has been sitting in the floor for over 45 minutes unrefrigerated.

Called at 10:45 to ask if there was a wait. Fella says there is no wait. Headed over we were 5 minutes down the road. Walked in waited 45 minutes for a table. Now we ordered as soon as we were sat and have been waiting 30 minutes for our food. This place is a mess.

I ate here for dinner while out of town on business and it was such a perfect little find!! The inside is super cute, they have patio seating, and there's a little bit of everything on the menu with a cool, unique, twist to each dish that is delicious! Get the Tamale (pictured), a mojito, and a Cuban coffee for dessert. I'll definitely be coming back if I'm ever in town again. There was even a sign that said they have a live band on the patio on Fridays.

While traveling through Athens we used Yelp to find a place to eat. This place was a BUST!! It was a Sunday afternoon, I took pics of the menu while we were deciding what to order (12:40) The place was dead, nearly all the tables were dirty from what looked like the aftermath of a busy lunch. Our waitress was the only person working the floor. We placed our order and 30 min later our food arrived. Boo! No apology just dropped it off and disappeared. She never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. The food was ok, but the experience was ridiculous.

There are not a lot of options for outdoor seating in Athens on Mondays. We chose Sol, because they have plenty of outdoor seating and were the only customers when we entered at noon. I got the Chimichurri Chicken Bowl (pictured) and Cuban coffee. The bowl was OK. I thought the chicken was too hard and the sauce tasted and looked like ranch. The Cuban coffee had a good kick to it and was very sweet (although that's the way it's supposed to be!). Overall an OK, but not exceptional, experience for lunch on a Monday.

Build you own bloody mary bar! 'Nuff said. Good, local place to eat on State Street. Enjoyed the Cuban and was dying to try the Bloody Mary Bar.

House Marg

LOVE THIS PLACE! I've always had good service, great food, and it's way chill! Don't skip the house Marg!

Mac & cheese with BBQ pulled pork.

The food was good but the service was slow, and it really wasn't that busy! This place is part bar, part restaurant, and part board game spot. They had a pile of board games on the shelf and we saw some others playing some of them. We ordered the Cuban sandwich and the bbq pork Mac and cheese. Both were tasty! The bbq sauce is unique!

Yummy guacamole!!

This place was bomb. Cuban sandwich was fresh, breakfast sandwich was fresh, fish bowl was good too, and they have percolated Cuban coffee!

Love the uptown Court St location. The atmosphere is cool there. The food and service are good too. Just need to get that liquor license.

Good food. Dog shit service. Party of 3 took 2 hours to get out of here ( not terribly busy ). Won't be back.

Service is pretty bad, and the food is either ok, or completely abysmal. It's super hit or miss, bust mostly miss.

From the stellar fast service to the ambience of great Caribbean music it is a joy for the census from the beginning. We ordered our Caribbean sodas and placed our order for our food. Who knew that we would get authentic Jamaican soda from the island in Zanesville Ohio, what a treat. We ordered two separate meals, the first was a curry chicken meal, and the second was a jerk chicken meal. The food was brought out in a short amount of time and everything looked smelled and was so pleasing I couldn't wait to dig in. In regard to the flavor of my dish, the curry chicken. Everything was exquisite on the time. The side, dishes of cabbage with mixed vegetables and beans and rice were unlike any I've ever tasted. The savory of the curry chicken with the mixed potatoes and carrots was also a delight as well. My wife enjoyed her jerk chicken, and vegetables as well. Needless to say, we shared a bit of our dishes with each other, and we're equally impressed on both sides of our table. In addition, we did order a side of fried plantains, which was fabulous. When we finished our meal, unknown at the time, the chef came out of the kitchen to speak with us and I realized he was the owner. Dwayne was a fabulous person to talk to, I also realized his son Saini was our waiter. As a father myself, I wanted to make sure that Dwayne realized how professional his son was taking our order and taking care of us. We have some friends who own property at Dylan Lake and we have already shared this little gem information with them and believe you me we're going to be sharing it with lots of other folks as well. I can't say enough about what you can find at this beautiful establishment in terms of a dining experience, but be assured we will be back as often as we are in the area!!

The decor inside may be lacking a bit, and it was warm in there, seems they just have a window AC. It wasn't so hot that it was uncomfortable though. They do not have any high chairs -1 for that. We just brought our stroller in. Highly recommend the passion fruit juice, jerk chicken(the sauce is incredible) and sweet potato pudding my husband had the banana fritters and they were great too!

I went with the BBQ jerk chicken, rice and beans, collard greens and fried plantains, and every part of the plate had its own flavor. The BBQ jerk was probably my favorite because it gives you something a little different while still having that Caribbean flavor. I also loved hearing about some of the different dishes and specials they offer. You can tell there's a lot of history and family influence behind the menu. The staff were friendly and made the experience feel personal instead of transactional. I love supporting restaurants like this because you can actually feel the care that goes into the food.
