I went with the BBQ jerk chicken, rice and beans, collard greens and fried plantains, and every part of the plate had its own flavor. The BBQ jerk was probably my favorite because it gives you something a little different while still having that Caribbean flavor. I also loved hearing about some of the different dishes and specials they offer. You can tell there's a lot of history and family influence behind the menu. The staff were friendly and made the experience feel personal instead of transactional. I love supporting restaurants like this because you can actually feel the care that goes into the food.

The food, the people, the atmosphere -- it all felt connected to the culture instead of being Caribbean food just for the sake of putting it on a menu. I tried the curry goat with rice and beans and some mac and cheese, and the flavor was incredible. The goat was tender and the curry had so much depth to it. What really made the experience for me was how welcoming everyone was. You can tell this is a family-owned place where the food is personal to them. I'll definitely be back.

I really wanted to enjoy Mi Yaad Jamaica, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of what I…read moreexpected from a Jamaican restaurant. I ordered the curry chicken with white rice, and the food was not as advertised. The biggest issue was the amount of salt. The dish was noticeably over-salted, while at the same time lacking the spices and depth of flavor that I associate with authentic Jamaican cooking. Jamaican curry chicken should have layers of flavor from the curry, thyme, scallion, garlic, ginger, pimento, and other traditional seasonings. Unfortunately, those flavors were largely missing. The meal tasted more salty than seasoned, and it lacked the bold, rich, authentic Jamaican flavor I was expecting. I understand that recipes and tastes can vary, but when you're looking for Jamaican food, authenticity and proper seasoning are a big part of the experience. Hopefully, the restaurant takes this as constructive feedback and works on balancing the salt and bringing more of the traditional Jamaican spices and flavors forward. Unfortunately, based on the curry chicken and rice I received, I would not recommend it if you're specifically looking for authentic Jamaican flavor

Typically we don't like Mac n cheese from Caribbean restaurants but theirs was pretty good. The only dish that we were not fond of is the potato salad as it was a little bland and needed more seasoning (salt maybe) and it was just not what we are used to - there was corn and peas in it. Other than that, we loved that they have a drive through window and they were very courteous. We will be back to try other items!
