I very much enjoyed my visit yesterday. I hadn't had African food before but it was so good, everyone was friendly, welcoming, even another customer who was waiting for her takeout! She sat at the next table and we chatted for quite awhile. The food was served quickly and was hot. I loved both dishes and was pleasantly surprised that not was as spicy as I had expected. I had Jollof rice with beef and plantains, also the spinach soup with chicken and fufu. The only negative thing that I could say is that the beef was a bit dry, but having never had this type of food before, it could certainly be a cultural preference. Thank you so much! I love this Nigerian restaurant. One of the best things about this is that they let you buy single pieces of meat (a piece of fish, or goat, or cow foot, for example), for just around $2.50. That way, you can sample all the different types of food and still be satisfied. Their fufu and soups are delicious as well, and it's restaurants like this that make me happy to live in Columbus, especially when so much of the city is becoming bland, overpriced, and gentrified. It's been a while since I've dined in for obvious reasons, but when I did the staff were incredibly friendly and cheerful. read more

I did place my DoorDash order before the restaurant opened, but that's no reason to serve what appeared to be leftovers. The beans were delicious. I prefer a sweeter plantain. My only would be complaint would be the fish having bones but that doesn't take away from the taste. The fish was great and the fish paired with the soup, pounded yam and moimoi was a great combination. I really wanted to love this place but overall felt like I was let down. I've had dishes similar to the one I ordered before and while the rice was seasoned amazingly and the plantain was delicious as well I felt that the chicken was over cooked and dry. Also while the restaurant does have seating inside to sit down most of everyone who I saw come in ordered and left. If you're looking for authentic food that's well seasoned it checks the box but could be better. read more

Stopped into Intercontinental when my cousin told me he never had Egusi Stew and fufu. I had to be with him the first time he tried it! Did not disappoint! I had the egusi, fish w/ fufu and he had the same with beef. The stew was amazing, the fufu great! The staff was friendly and I felt welcomed, which is always a plus when visiting a restaurant. I asked multiple times if my dish had any red meat in it prior to ordering as I have not eaten it in years. Was assured if I didn't order it with meat there would only be dried fish in it. After enjoying my first portion, I find beef tripe in my stew. Needless to say I was sick for the next day and upon calling the restaurant was yelled at and argued with and told "cow stomach is not beef" and that there is no manager to speak with regardless of them clearly speaking with someone in the background. I was so excited to support and would have been fine with just an apology and refund. I work in restaurants and understand things happen. However, I never received either. The filling was bland and the dough was too tough. I would recommend passing on those. Feed me? I want them to adopt me. I second Brian B.'s observations. The owner Olawale served me and was delightful. He patiently and enthusiastically explained the dishes and answered my questions. I ended up inviting him to serve me at his discretion. I wasn't disappointed. I was served a plate with a variety of dishes including jollof rice, shrimp fried rice, moi moi, goat meat stew, plantains, egusi soup and goat meat with okra soup. I enjoyed it all, the goat meat stew in particular. The stew had a delightful spiced tomato sauce. The goat meat was chewy, which I understand is typical of west African food. There was also goat tripe in the dish. The tripe's texture was not to my liking, but the flavor of stew trumps any textural concerns. The fried rice had a subtle curry flavor and the jollof rice was somewhat reminiscent of Cajun. Everything was very fresh and colorful. The Mrs. came out of the kitchen after my meal as I was paying (only $8 for a feast) to thank me. She was so sweet, I got a toothache. My wife, son and I had an amazingly good meal here. My son ordered the Jollof rice, which was steamed rice in tomato sauce with fried plantains and chicken. My wife and I had the fufu and egusi stew. The egusi stew was made from African melon seeds and cooked with spinach, herbs and spices. It was wonderfully spicy. It came with a gigantic dumpling made with grains and African yam and whitefish. We took some of the sauce home and made another meal from it. The service was incredibly warm and the portions huge. By far the best Nigerian restaurant I've visited to date. I am being bias because I LOVE Nigerian food(it's the Nigerian in me) but it's really a great establishment. Of course I wanted to sample everything on the menu (gluttony at its finest) but I settled for the Egusi with goat meat(yummy)and pounded yam. It was so good!!! And I mean that!...the last time my friend and I tried a Nigerian restaurant together was when we were in Chicago and it was terrible so this changed my views on dining at a Nigerian restaurant again. Granted, we could have made the food ourselves but let's be honest who wants to stand in the kitchen pounding yam? (it's not easy FYI but will build muscle lol)..(unless you're like me and have cravings then you will pound away)...I guess my friend is an advocate of eating at home because he mentioned it prior to us arriving however he didn't seem to complain when our food came and he helped me devour it.The portion sizes are standard so you can split the meal between two people. Even though I finished majority of the pounded yam myself. -_-...our waitress Ngozi was great! She was friendly and made us feel welcomed and took kindly to the fact my friend spoke Nigerian Pidgin so they hit it off right away. By the way the restaurant gives off a family vibe which I absolutely loved! Next time I want to try the beans and plantain :)...if your not use to eating pounded yam I will let you know in advance they will bring a bowl of water out with your food to wash your hands (there's a bathroom for the extreme germies that want a deep clean)...my only request would be for them to add ogbono soup to the menu! I am thoroughly confused. I ordered from here once before, the food was pretty decent. This is the second and most recent time I ordered, and I literally just threw out $30 worth of soups because they were practically in edible. I'm not sure if they were spoiled, or if it was just not prepared properly, or both, but it tasted absolutely nothing like the last time I ordered or like any Nigerian food that I have ever tasted before. I could not even force myself to eat it. The 2 stars is for the jollof rice/chicken which was delicious both times. OK, Let me start be saying that it started really badly! My waiter was a young man who was polite and courteous but could not understand a word of English. It took some time and me acting out like charades for him to understand I wanted tap water to drink LOL, No biggie and perhaps I am a skint flint for not ordering bottled water. I asked about one of the dishes and he confirmed it was a goat soup. The lady from the kitchen came out a few minutes after I ordered to check I wanted the goat meat something which was different than the one I ordered. We clarified that and it came out reasonably quickly, It tasted however well not good at all, the goat meat was grizzly, fatty and like leather to try eating.. The soup itself smelled really bad and was like a slimy spinach or something. The owner came in as it was being served having been to the store as she explained to me. She brought me an extra sampler of okra soup to try which I did but did not like. I asked for the check having eaten just a couple spoonfuls of the soup, I didn't want to complain because it may of just been a poor choice on my part and also they were so polite. The owner apologized to me and insisted she make me something else, reluctantly I agreed to try the stewed tomatoes with chicken, Well I was really apprehensive but to my utter amazement it was delicious. I hungrily devoured every morsel just as the owner brought a big plate of fried plantains to try with it!. I dont know if it is etiquette to do so but I ate them with the remaining tomato stew. I was in heaven! I will go back and will order me some tomato stew with chicken and fried plantains next time for sure. Because of the service and the owner insisting I try something else I have awarded 5 stars. She also asked me if I wanted more plantains and some stew to go, she was genuinely concerned that I have a good experience there. Bravo! read more

This place is incredible. I am so happy that the C-bus Food Adventures folks brought the tour group here. The owners are SO nice and friendly, the husband waited on us and explained everything on the menu and then told us that we could mix and match if we wanted (we did). I got the egusi stew, white rice, chicken and plaintains. My date got the jollof rice, moi moi, goat and plaintains. We both cleaned our plates. This Nigerian restaurant had excellent food I enjoyed all the meals that I had there. I've eaten there twice so far. I'm new to the area, they were warm with family atmosphere. The plankton was delicious the meats I had was goat, turkey and I've had chicken all was excellently cooked and seasoned nicely.
