    House Margarita And Vegetable Tacos

A new place in Athens. It seems good. North End has like a Mexican theme. Menu features tacos that are small and can be eaten in one bite. They have margaritas of course and food other than small tacos. Came here for lunch with my boo. It was busy. There were lots of students. A big group of idiot girls with a few jackoff guys were on the other side of the bar. The atmosphere otherwise has a cool vibe. First we ordered the drinks. It was margaritas of course, what else. A few to choose from and some are much cheaper. The House Margarita is about $5 and comes with a lime. As for the food there are some very popular items. The most popular seems to be tacos. Get them with a protein of your choice. It's about $8 for a couple small tacos and a side like beans. These are something that can be eaten fast. It has some good food. Maybe the atmosphere will be good but it changes a lot. Try going when the bros aren't invading the area and stuff.

The food was delicious not too spicy. Employees were nice and attentive items were priced right. Will be making a return the next time I am in Athens.

The absolute worst food in Athens. We bought $60.00 worth and all of it is in my trash can.

The vibes are perfect: Mexican but more modern, comfortable, and fun. I could tell everyone there was there cause they loved the food and the employees all had smiles on their faces. We were seated quickly and order the guac sampler to start our meals with our house margaritas. The house margs were great and automatically came with salt around the rim, which I loved. With the guac sampler, we got the black bean and ranchera salsa. I like the ranchera, but the real stars were the black bean salsa and their guac. The black bean salsa is not a traditional chunky black bean dip, it is smooth with many complex flavors. The guac also was very well balanced and the avocados were so fresh. Each of us was given our own chip baskets and went to town on these dips. For the main, my friend recommended me the Albany clucker quesadilla. That is a chicken quesadilla that comes with onions and bell peppers. The quesadillas are a good size, come out full of cheese and fillings, and are served with your choice of salsa. I tried the seasonal salsa, which was dark, smooth, and smokey. It went so well with the quesadilla! Both of us ate about half our meals and left feeling full, which plenty of food for another meal later. I will be coming back any time I come back to town. The vibes are good, the food is better, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other modern Mexican restaurants around. If you need a good spot for dinner or drinks, I highly recommend here. It makes me wish I lived closer.

Today we enjoyed salsa verde enchilada with tofu, tofu tacos. & I enjoyed burrito with the veggies of the day mushrooms & cabbage with the seasonal salsa Roasted Tomato Roja. Great service too. It's for sure a place to take a guest or have a classier evening. The worst part is the prices, but it's still better service than the restaurant side. Casa Cantina began in 1993 when the Casa Nueva employees expanded to a full service bar. The infused vodka cocktails are what its best known for. I have only been only to try a few beverages here since it can be costly. The blueberry mojito is the best. It's sweet and tangy. The margaritas are good if kind of watery. A glass is about $5 to $6, while a pitcher is about $20 to $30. There's also premium and super premium margarita that use higher quality liquor. Among the vodka infused cocktails, I most liked the cucumber gimlet. This is about $5, with cucumber infused vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup. Another good drink is the Ohio Mule. This is about $5, with Buckeye Vodka, Reed's Ginger Brew, and lime juice. Casa Cantina has a limited menu of some items from Casa Nueva. The house made salsas are kick ass. The black bean is garlicy, and the habanero is burning hot. I am a supporter of independently owned companies so I want to like this. It's run by people who care but may not have a lot of experience. This is worth a return because it's still a good place for chilling and enjoying a margarita or an infused vodka.

The dining room was already on a wait at that point in the evening. I ordered a Manhattan, it came on the rocks, I probably would have had it up if the bartender had asked, but it was fine. They have a special menu for the bar, it looked to be on the expensive side. Casa has great food, but it is not cheap. There is a stage and a mirror ball and a small PA, it would be a fun place to see a band. I hear my beloved Phantods have played Casa. It seems as friendly and tasty and as expensive as I remember it. Definitely worth a look if you're in Athens for more than a day.

One friend ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and got a fruity vinaigrette instead. Another friend ordered a burger and they forgot the bacon. A third friend asked for his burger well-done, but it came out medium, also with no bacon. When he asked the server if it looked well-done, she said she didn't know what well-done looks like. He asked if she could get a new one so he wouldn't get sick, and she said she'd check with the kitchen. No apology. It took 25 minutes for the new burger to come out, and by then we had been there for over an hour and a half. When she finally brought it out, she asked if he wanted a box to take it home. Still no bacon on the burger. Also, no apology again. Overall, not a great experience. Will not be back.

The wrap-around bar gives it a welcoming, communal feel--perfect for grabbing a seat solo or catching up with friends. The beer selection is limited, but what they do have is decent, albeit a little on the heavier side. It's the kind of place where you don't need a massive tap list--just a few good options done right. What really surprised me were the wings. Locally sourced and noticeably larger than your average bar wings, they were absolutely packed with flavor--easily some of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with the perfect amount of dry rub. Worth the visit for those alone. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with great food, good beer, and a neighborhood-pub kind of feel, this place delivers.
