Customer service? Not a thing apparently. I've attempted to…read morecall this place on 3 separate occasions and not one answer. I then decided to just book an appointment through their system here on Yelp. Booked my appointment with Jolene, appointment got confirmed. Until days later I see I receive an email saying my appointment got canceled! I didn't receive a call or even a text as to why my appointment got cancelled or even if I'd like to reschedule! It's not like I check my emails as often as I'd check a text message. So what if I didn't see the cancellation in time? Clearly they don't care about gaining new clientele for whatever reason. Happily made my appointment, AT EASE, at another establishment.

These hair stylists at this salon have "Plenty" of clients already and not looking for new ones... it's just sad how they choose to deal with potential new clients! I guess I'll have to look for a place that actually wants my business!

Then I received a phone call from my sister-in-law, whose son was getting married that day, and I realized I was running about 30 minutes late. Mena was so kind and accommodating and still got me in! Filomena, didn't they teach you in kindergarten that lying is wrong? I want to clarify a few…read morethings. I never insulted you in Spanish -- that you don't understand my beautiful Chilean Spanish is one thing, but claiming I insulted you is another. On September 10, just four days after my haircut, I went back to your salon because I didn't like how it looked. You were completely freaking out, asking your receptionist who I was and why I was there instead of simply asking me. Only after I introduced myself ("Filomena, it's Carla from Chile") did your attitude change. Because my English is limited and your Spanish isn't good either, I made sure to write down and translate exactly what I wanted to say so I could explain it politely: "Hi Mena, I called you but you didn't answer. Since I left work early, I came because I had the time. It's not a big deal, I just don't like my haircut because it's flat and I want layers." At first, even though you only wanted to give me a lesson on how to style my hair, I said yes, I wanted your help. But when you started giving opinions about my face shape and telling me you had already done "many" layers, as if to say I didn't need more, that's when I decided to tell you no -- because it's not up to you to decide whether I like my own hair or not. I paid you over $500. And honestly, if after 30+ years in this business you still haven't figured out how to treat your clients with respect, maybe you should ask for a refund on that "experience" -- because clearly three decades haven't been enough for you to learn. Finally, I would like to know if your salon has cameras with microphones to corroborate that everything I'm saying is true. Carla

I am exceptionally picky about hairstylists, especially when it comes to women's haircuts, hair color, highlights, styling, and keeping my hair healthy. Edvin knocked it out of the park from the very beginning. When I first came to Edvin for a hair consultation, my hair was in very bad shape. He immediately understood what my hair needed and created a plan to get it looking healthy and beautiful again. My hair has never looked better! I constantly receive compliments on how beautiful, healthy, shiny, and well-styled my hair looks. What really sets Edvin apart from other hairstylists is his incredible understanding of how a woman's hair changes throughout her lifetime. It is very difficult to find a stylist who truly knows how to cut, color, and style women's hair as it changes with age. Edvin absolutely does. He knows how to choose a flattering hair color and haircut that works with your hair, face, lifestyle, and where you are in life. He is exceptionally talented with hair color, dimensional color, highlights, gray coverage, precision haircuts, layers, styling, and restoring damaged hair. He also understands the importance of maintaining the health and integrity of your hair rather than simply trying to achieve a certain look. One of the things I appreciate most is that Edvin keeps it real. He listens carefully to what you want, but he will also give you his professional opinion about what will actually look good and what is best for the health of your hair. That kind of honesty and expertise is incredibly hard to find. On top of being an outstanding Modesto hairstylist and colorist, Edvin is a gem of a human being. He is kind, professional, dependable, personable, meticulous, and always on time. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his clients and takes tremendous pride in his work. If you are searching for the best hairstylist in Modesto, CA, an expert hair colorist in Modesto, a great women's haircut, hair color, highlights, gray coverage, color correction, dimensional color, or simply someone who can help you achieve and maintain healthy, beautiful hair, go see Edvin at Hair by Edvin inside Salon Salon in Modesto. If you have the opportunity to have Edvin as your hairstylist, look no further -- he is your guy! I cannot recommend him highly enough. Five stars aren't enough. My hair has truly never looked better!

I had hair that went down past my butt, wanted a change, but was terrified of letting someone cut it (everyone always chops off more than you ask for!!). Going to the salon was exciting! He sat me down and we talked about his plan before anything else, and he made sure that I was comfortable with what he had in mind. He is seriously the sweetest. He cares about what he does, wants you to leave satisfied, and he indefinitely knows what he's doing! He's been cutting hair for decades. He is a joy to talk to. And most importantly... I LOVE MY HAIR!!!! Thank you so much, Edvin!

While the initial rough handling and poor technique from Jasmine were incredibly frustrating and concerning at the time, I am happy to report my hair has completely bounced back. However, that recovery is solely due to my own strict, dedicated hair care regimen. To repair the damage, I had to implement a rigorous routine using fresh aloe spritz with rosemary and peppermint essential oils, drinking fresh fenugreek water, incorporating Caribbean foods, fruits, and spices into my diet, and regularly using my homemade Ayurvedic warm herbal oils on my scalp. I also had to treat folliculitis resulting from the appointment using a diluted basil and oregano essential oil mixture. Thankfully, my personal routine kept any long-term damage at bay and my hair is finally thriving again--but no thanks to Jasmine. The warning still stands for anyone looking for a stylist who is naturally gentle with high-maintenance hair. If you go here, be prepared to do heavy damage control afterward.
