If zero were an option as a rating, I'd choose zero. Solelectric was subcontracted through Axia by Qcells to install my solar system (Panels, battery, etc.). The electricians could not communicate in English. I had requested the plans of the system from Axia and the permit. They were not provided. I was told by Axia that they did not subcontract, so I had no idea who Solelectric was when they arrived to install the system. The van had a Solelectric sign, but the workers were wearing hats from another company, I told the Solelectric lead worker that they would not be performing the work, unless I saw a permit and the plans. I had concerns about the plans when another group of workers surveyed the house and wanted to hang the battery on a detached shed. It's an old carriage house used for storage which was built 1898.
On the day of installation, I asked several times for the lead worker's contractor's license and his electrician's license. It was not provided. He was working under the company's license which I found online. During the installation process, my house was damaged: large holes in the side of the house were electrical wiring was placed from the attic and caulking was not used, broken potted plants, screws and debris were left in the driveway...on and on... My hall light no longer functions and a kitchen light is still not functioning.
PG&E had to come out when the system was finally connected months later and the solar panels started working ( the battery was non-functional). A PG&E employee had to climb a power poll to replace something that blew after the system was installed and connected to PG&E. I was without power in 107 degree heat. During the no power fiasco, I was able to contact Solelectric after several attempts. I had told Solelectric that I was waiting for PG&E to come out and restore my power. Solelectric sent a teenager to my house. He had a new multimeter and was opening it from the packaging when he arrived. I sent him off my property. Solelectric never told me they were sending someone to my house. The teenager pretended not to speak English when he first arrived. When he left he could explain what he was doing in perfect English. I told Axia by QCells to send Solelectric after I finally received a response them About the battery-a year later. Axia blamed the App about the battery situation and explained Solelectric had created the account incorrectly and they couldn't reconfigure the battery, Blah, blah, blah! I filed a complaint with the State of California and Axia sent Solelectric to my home again to get the battery operating. I told Axia I didn't want Solelectric!
This time the battery system was operating when the repair person completed the work. A part was installed incorrectly a year earlier. Two days later the power went out in my detached garage and the food in my freezer spoiled. I flipped the circuits in the garage-no plower. I had asked the Solelectric worker about the electrical boxes he was working on located on the side of my house when he was at the house repairing the battery. It is the main circuit to the house and the 280 v circuit to the garage. I was told by the repair person, "circuit to house off. Battery need reset. Garage no attached." He pointed to the circuits.
I turned the circuit on the side of the house to the detached garage off when the power was dead and I saw sparks and heard sizzling. I didn't turn it back on.
I decided I would deal with no electricity to the garage until after the summer. I wanted the battery to work and didn't want Solelectric touching my electrical. I was going to hire another private company for the garage and then deal with the solar people (Solelectric) when I was not using the AC and no longer needed the battery to reduce my power bill.
My husband wanted the electricity to the garage repaired, so I called a private electrician through my Home Warranty. The electrician walked to the circuit box. He screwed in the circuit and everything worked. Solelectric failed to secure the circuit. It was sparking and sizzling because it was loose and moving. The house could have caught on fire!
Make sure, whatever company you purchase your solar system from, that the solar company does not subcontract to Solelectric. And, do not purchase your system from Axia by Qcells. They do not return phone calls! Solelectric doesn't answer the phone or return calls either. Writing a Yelp review prompted Axia by Qcells to respond on Yelp and Solelectric did call within five minutes, because of the review about Axia by Qcells. Someone from customer service at Solelectric gave me polite lip service and assurances. She also alluded to the fact that they wouldn't pay for the food lost In my freezer without pictures.Hopefully, this review and a complaint through government agencies will solve this issue.I am filing a complaint against both contractors through the State of California Licensing. read more
