I've used Ed for a few years now, but I don't think I'll be back anymore. The last time they came by, they seemed very unprepared. They were missing parts and had to go to the store. I asked to have a 30-amp single-pole breaker installed, and they installed a double-pole breaker, using single-pole wiring. If I ever have to sell my house, the new owners might think that it is really a double-pole breaker with double-pole wiring. There is always something that needs to be done when you own your home. For me it was these light sensors in my bathrooms. They have a mind of their own. It is supposed to turn the lights on and off when it senses you walk in and out. The universe had other plans. It tuned on and off when the wind blew, when I sneezed, when the dog barked. It didn't turn on when I went into the dark bathroom at night. It liked to turn off when I was in the shower ...at night. I couldn't stand it anymore. I was afraid it would be expensive. Ed showed great responsiveness, knowledge and experience in his work for us. We're buying a house and are in escrow. We had to come up with a cost for redoing some electrical work that the people we're buying from had done without permits a few years ago. We were pretty sure the sellers would agree to reduce our price by at least the cost to get a permit, redo the work and bring it up to code. But we had a deadline of just a day or two to come up with a contractor's estimate and get it to the seller. Ed came through. He showed up on short notice and looked over not just the specific 'two circuits on one breaker' violation we called him to help solve and price, but carefully went over the related electrical work at the main and sub-panels that had been done without permit during a kitchen remodel (also done without permit). The new kitchen included a high amperage stove top and electric oven. He found issues in wire sizing load safety and violations of fire code that were not only a safety risk, but would be triggered when we filed a permit to rewire the main and sub-panel. The requirements would have surprised us and cost us thousands to correct. Thankfully, Ed got a quote done for us in time to submit it to the current owner and have it subtracted from our accepted offer price for the house. Our experience: We contacted about 5 electricians about this work. Three got back to us, asked for photos, then, without showing up, gave likely a correct but very limited estimate solving just the two circuit issue on the panel. Only one other electrician came out to the house. Though well rated, he wasn't as experienced as Ed. He just just saw the same limited fix of wires and breakers on the main panel that the photo estimators had seen and gave a low estimate that wouldn't fix the big problem we were buying. Ed came out, took a more careful look than anyone, developed a guess -why- they had doubled-up the circuits, discovered the other genuine code issues for us and saved the day. read more
