We hired Ed Electric to install a 240-volt outlet in our laundry room, and what looked like a headache of a job turned into a masterclass in skilled, creative electrical work. The challenge: the line had to penetrate a shear wall into the garage -- already packed with HVAC, gas lines, and existing electrical -- and then find its way to the laundry room in the center of the house. We fully expected to be patching sheetrock on at least one wall when it was all over. Ed Electric surprised us completely. Not only did they identify a far simpler and smarter route into the house that we never would have thought of, but they ran the line in a way that is completely hidden yet fully accessible -- and not a single piece of sheetrock was touched. The finished result looks clean and professional, as if it had always been there. Their quote was fair, and they showed up to start the work the very next day. No waiting around, no runaround. What truly made the experience stand out was the owner taking time after the job to have a genuine conversation with me about how someone I know might pursue a career as a licensed electrician, and the state of the profession in the Bay Area. That kind of generosity -- going beyond the job to be helpful as a person -- is something you don't forget. Ed Electric is exactly the kind of local contractor San Rafael is lucky to have. Highly, highly recommended. read more

There is always something that needs to be done when you own your home. For me it was these light sensors in my bathrooms. They have a mind of their own. It is supposed to turn the lights on and off when it senses you walk in and out. The universe had other plans. It tuned on and off when the wind blew, when I sneezed, when the dog barked. It didn't turn on when I went into the dark bathroom at night. It liked to turn off when I was in the shower ...at night. I couldn't stand it anymore. I was afraid it would be expensive. I faced that fear because I just couldn't take it. I used a yelps handy dandy helper for someone to come. Someone licensed and professional. Out of the replies this one stood out so I scheduled the same day appointment. Within 30 minutes my switches were replaced. I was happy and the fee was so reasonable. My only regret was not doing this sooner! Omar was the electrician who came into my home, wore a mask (I am immunocompromised), and did the work neatly, efficiently, and professionally. If you need an electrician, this one is the one I am so glad I chose. Bookmark it especially if you own your home because you know, you'll eventually need this. Fiver for perfection. Thanks Omar! read more

Ed provided top quality service, installing a light and security system. Super pleased to have him in the address book when we need electrical work! read more

Great experience with EV charger install. Very thorough, and great communication. Crew stayed and made sure we understood how to operate.

Ed and Homer were incredible. They swung by at the time they told us they would, were super thorough in assessing our situations and gave us tips on what alternatives would work best. Their quote was super competitive and it only made sense for us to hire them same-day. They got 3 separate projects done all at a great rate. Super professional and nice guys who do a fantastic job. I'd recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone in need of quick, friendly service at a good rate. read more

I've used Ed for a few years now, but I don't think I'll be back anymore. The last time they came by, they seemed very unprepared. They were missing parts and had to go to the store. I asked to have a 30-amp single-pole breaker installed, and they installed a double-pole breaker, using single-pole wiring. If I ever have to sell my house, the new owners might think that it is really a double-pole breaker with double-pole wiring. Ed's worker said they would be back to install the correct breaker, but they never came back or followed up. I will be taking my money elsewhere, Edward. read more

There is a reason why Edward and his team have nothing but 5 star reviews--they are just all that! I had an emergency: limited power with an arching panel in need of replacement. Ed was out the same day and had an estimate for me by end of day, and one that beat most others considerably. While I was still waiting to hear back from other electricians, Ed's team was already securing permits and navigating P,G&E to get the project expedited. On top of that, when I did some research on the updated code and discovered we didn't need to move panel location, Ed worked with me to revise the estimate based on the reduced labor. Professional, honest, fair and super efficient--that's what you get with Ed Electric! read more

We needed an outlet and a circuit installed. The entire process was smooth and painless, without sales pitches or upselling. Ed gave us a concise explanation and estimate. The scheduler was very nice and accommodating. The crew was polite and efficient. They were on time for every appointment. This is a family-run business, not a franchise, and you can feel the pride they take in their work. I'll definitely use them again. read more

I was very happy with ED electric. Somewone came out within a few hours and was able to fix our issue in an hour. Ed and his team are great. I had them come out and run electrical to the top of my backyard, install a new subpanel, and wire up a home office with outlets and ethernet to my main modem. Ed was the only electrician that sent over his bid with a fully itemized breakdown of the requested materials and labor. His team completed everything and handled the permit process at the agreed upon price. I would definitely work with Ed again on future projects read more

Juan delivers! Fast and thorough at a reasonable prices .. time for the next project with him!

Ed and his team were fantastic to work with. We had a complex EV charger installation that required their team to run new cabling from the electrical box in the back of our house through a long crawl space and multiple walls. Ed did a free inspection and turned around a competitive quote the same day. His team then completed the work much quicker than anticipated and with high quality. They also managed the permitting and inspection process for us - the city inspector remarked to me that Ed and his team always do "very clean work." We are very happy with our decision to work with Ed Electric and look forward to doing so again. read more

ED Electric - EV charger - Electricians Near Me

Ed showed great responsiveness, knowledge and experience in his work for us. We're buying a house and are in escrow. We had to come up with a cost for redoing some electrical work that the people we're buying from had done without permits a few years ago. We were pretty sure the sellers would agree to reduce our price by at least the cost to get a permit, redo the work and bring it up to code. But we had a deadline of just a day or two to come up with a contractor's estimate and get it to the seller. Ed came through. He showed up on short notice and looked over not just the specific 'two circuits on one breaker' violation we called him to help solve and price, but carefully went over the related electrical work at the main and sub-panels that had been done without permit during a kitchen remodel (also done without permit). The new kitchen included a high amperage stove top and electric oven. He found issues in wire sizing load safety and violations of fire code that were not only a safety risk, but would be triggered when we filed a permit to rewire the main and sub-panel. The requirements would have surprised us and cost us thousands to correct. Thankfully, Ed got a quote done for us in time to submit it to the current owner and have it subtracted from our accepted offer price for the house. Our experience: We contacted about 5 electricians about this work. Three got back to us, asked for photos, then, without showing up, gave likely a correct but very limited estimate solving just the two circuit issue on the panel. Only one other electrician came out to the house. Though well rated, he wasn't as experienced as Ed. He just just saw the same limited fix of wires and breakers on the main panel that the photo estimators had seen and gave a low estimate that wouldn't fix the big problem we were buying. Ed came out, took a more careful look than anyone, developed a guess -why- they had doubled-up the circuits, discovered the other genuine code issues for us and saved the day. read more

Ed was in the area and was able to come out the same day to bid on an EV Charger install, and after we accepted the very reasonable bid, he was able to schedule the work for early the following week. Edward and crew were great, fast, and cost-effective. They came into a job that we had started without using an electrician, fixed some mistakes and quickly installed a low voltage system for our new deck. No hassle, the crew was able to clearly communicate what needed to be done, and they left the job site spotless. They also found a short circuit in some wiring another contractor had laid, and (for no additional charge) gave us advice on how to have the old crew fix it. We're going straight to Edward for our next electrical job. read more

Awesome service. If you're a homeowner in Novato needing help with an electrical issue in your house, call ED Electric first. I called around and this was the only electrician in the area that could make it out on the same day. On top of that, one of the electrical technicians called me back immediately to discuss the issue, and they were able to explain to me how to fix the issue safely myself, without them coming out to do a diagnostic or repair. They didn't charge anything. Thank you so much, I didn't know this kind of service still exists! Next time, if I have an electrical issue in my home, I will call ED Electric first. read more
