I didn't expect Sofrito cafe to be as pretty as it is. I always expect really good Latin food to come from a bodega (a very run-down looking independent grocery store) or the home kitchen of some of my friends. So when the reviews for this place raved about the food, I wasn't expecting the quality of the atmosphere. And when I got my first impression of this place, I started to wonder if the reviews were influenced by style over substance (which is something I've experienced in Orlando before). I didn't need to worry. The food is completely legit and absolutely delicious. I had smoked pork that was so juicy and tender I ate two thick slices of white meat pork with a butter knife. And the prices put every chain restaurant that surrounds this place to shame. (And trust me, it feels like every chain restaurant known to man has a franchise in this neighborhood.) If you want Latin food in Orlando, Sofrito is one of the best. read more

Sofrito Latin Cafe - The dining room - Latin American Near Me - Orlando, Florida

I'm in Orlando for a conference and we were needing a quick and delicious bite to eat. We fired up our Yelp app, perused the restaurants with high star ratings, scrolled through some reviews and settled on Sofrito. Bonus, it's right next to our hotel. It's fast casual dining. You walk in,or see your food, they give you a table number, you sit and they bring you your food. I love how they offer a variety of Latin dishes from different countries (Peru, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela). Most Latin restaurants typically offer dishes from one maybe two countries. The variety on the menu made it hard to choose but I finally settled on the pollo a la brasa paired with the sweet plantains, white rice, papa criolla and side salad. I also ordered a shredded beef Cuban empanada to start. The empanada was soooooo good. The shredded beef was well seasoned and the empanada dough was fried to golden perfection and it wasn't very greasy. I loved it so much, I got another beef and a chicken to go. The pollo a la brasa which is rotisserie Peruvian chicken, was okay. I was hoping that it had a little more flavor than it did given that the menu says it has rosemary, thyme and other spices. The sweet plantains were seared perfectly. The white rice is packed full of flavor, I was expecting just plain non eventful white rice but much to my surprise it was good. The house salad is a simple salad but the dressing is good. It's like a garlicky ranch dressing. Overall, the food here is great and the price is great. The pollo a la brasa is $12.75 but served with 3 sides in addition to a house salad. The empanadas range in price from $2-$3. You get a good bang for your buck. I enjoyed the food so much that I'll be back for their breakfast in the am. Update: came here for breakfast and it was bomb! read more

We chose dinner at Sofritas tonight because I had a hankering for sweet plantains. We were not disappointed. Our food was so delicious. I had the chicken plate. It came with 3 sides and a salad. My husband had the skirt steak. It also came with 3 sides and a salad. He loved it. He also ordered a beef empanada; so delicious with the garlic dipping sauce. and the coconut flan was a bit small but very tasty. This was our first meal here and we will most definitely be back. read more

Great food. Ordered the roast pork which was expertly prepared and seasoned nicely. The sweet plantains were also excellent. Generous amount of food for the price and the flan was also very good. read more

Excellent take-out experience! Ordered five meals to pick up, three Cubans, a Columbia burger and the roast pork dinner--all with sides. Upon pick-up, the order was ready and the server was kind and friendly. The order was accurate and the food was perfect! The dishes were fresh, the salad was above average and the yellow rice and black bean sides were colorful. You could tell that the food did not sit; it was freshly prepared. This was a great dining experience and I highly recommend this establishment. read more

It was just OK. Based off of all of the amazing reviews I decided to try the Colombian burger, sweet plantains, and an arepa de queso de mano. The burger was very basic with bacon but the meat was dry, over cooked, and not worth it. It definitely did not live up to the hype in the reviews...just a very basic overcooked burger. The arepa was terrible! It looked like they just slapped a block of cold cheese in between & the flavor was very bland. The sweet plantains were delicious and were the only really good part of my meal. read more

Excellent food and reasonably priced. The variety of Latin cuisine dishes on the menu is amazing. You preordered your food at the register. They'll give you a number that you place on your table. The portions are very good. The food will be hot and delicious. Very good customer service. read more

We went here bc of the high ratings. First you go in and there are 3 computer kiosks where you make your order. The food explanations and the too numerous side choices take too long to figure out. Anyhow you take a number and they bring the food to you. The service is 0. The wait staff have stoic faces and act like they want no interaction. You have to flag them down for information and/or utensils. We saw many customers ask the same questions like how do you get water cause the service is 0. Our food was bad. My seafood soup was sooo salty and the sandwich with shredded cheese wasn't even toasted to melt the cheese. So the food was like a 1/10. The best thing was I got a fountain drink which I could refill myself bc I was kinda thirsty. read more

You order at the counter and then seat yourself. Their service was great-- they came over a few times to check with us. We ordered the chicken empanadas and thought that the outside wasn't crunchy or soft, so kind of denser than expected which made cutting a bit difficult. The stuffing was yummy though. We ordered the Cuban and the Tripleta. The bread on these sandwiches were so soft and warm that it just melts in your mouth. The flavor was so spot on. The fries were also crunchy and delicious. Too bad I'm not from the area because I would definitely want to come back to try the other dishes! read more

The Venezuelan food is very tasty, I eat here every time I'm in Orlando! I recommend the tequeños and pabellón!

I got the roast pork. It's cooked for 36 hours so It was super tender and flavorful! I love how much you get for your money's worth. Getting 4 sides with your meal was amazing. I even had enough to save for later ! You pay first before you sit down and eat. There's a hot sauce called the scorpion (I think) on the table that was super yummy if you like spicy food definitely give it a try read more

When in Florida, one must have Cuban food. So I consulted Yelp and found this place not too far from my hotel. You order at the counter and then are given a number. I hate this style of dining. I prefer to be properly served. If I wanted to stand in line and then hover around people waiting for a table, I would head to Pollo Tropical. Fortunately, the food was pretty good. Great portion size for the cost. My lechon was tender, although I would have loved some onions with it. The beans and rice and tostones were also good. Service was not particularly friendly, but wasn't bad either. read more

Great flavor and great variety of latin american cuisines. Wish we had one in Texas. Glad we tried it. Had it twice in our trip, one on site and one delivery. went for arepas but the x-frangí was sooo good too. and enough food for a leftover meal. generous portions and delicious overall. read more

Best Latin food I've had... best food I had during my 8 days stay in Orlando....best tres leches I've Ever tasted. I would order everything all at once if I could. I've been 5 times and never found a bad item. read more

Yummy, quick service food, at good prices, in a nice environment. Love how each menu item is labeled as to where it originates (Venezuela, Colombia, etc.). The many vegetarian options are clearly marked with a 'V'. Usually it's easy to choose when I go out because vegetarian options can be scarce, but with so many yummy sounding vegetarian options I had to think on it for a bit before I made my decision (which is a great problem to have, imo). I ended up trying a cheese arepa and a few of the sides (all good) and they were happy to customize my arepa and add the fried egg, lettuce, and tomato I'd requested. Some of the items would have benefited had they been served with some sort of sauce accompaniment--next time I go I'll be sure to find out what my sauce options are while I'm ordering :) read more

Delicious arepas, large portions def a must stop spot in Orlando if your looking for Cuban, Venezuelan, Latin cuisine! Enjoyed!

Two stars because my mango juice was delicious. I have come here several times and today decided to try their Colombian burger which was not good at all, if you have ever had a Colombian burger before and try this one you will be disappointed, i did not fully read the description but it is not 100% beef it has pork and you can taste the difference. My burger did not have much of the sauce that usually goes on a Colombian burger. I couldn't even finish my food I left half of the my burger and some. When the waitress came by to pick up our trays I let her know the burger was not good at all, and she just giggled. The waitresses also just started picking up our drinks from the tables without asking if we were done or not. Probably will never have the burger here again read more

Amazing food! Service and ambience. I got the Churrasco with a side of plantains and a side of Yucca, simply delicious, totally recommended!

This place is a place I would come to eat everytime I visit Orlando. We loved the Venezuelan empanadas and Argentinian carne asada with chimichurri. We ordered the Argentinian empanadas as well but they are more like baked and doughy. But the venezuelan empanadas were deep fried so they were very crunchy and sooooooo good. Coffee was decent too. We also got another dish called lobos something...sry don't remember the name but it was good but not as good as the Argentinian carne asada. Would definitely come back!! read more

All I can say is WOW......and holy empanadas! I had a long term stay at the nearby Sheraton resort for work. A coworker brought a few empanadas back to the hotel and after trying a bite I was hooked. I went there every other day during my stay. They have a variety of empanadas and they are very inexpensive. They also had a steak entree with a variety of sides including plantains. I cannot even express how delicious the steak was. The restaurant has a limited bar menu with wine and mimosas. Good prices, good food, friendly staff. read more
