As a visitor from CA I have to say this little hole in the wall place is a hidden gem. We were a party of 7. Unfortunately I only took a picture of my plate. Very nice and friendly welcome. The place was almost empty. I ordered the chilaquiles plate with eggs. Two others ordered the same, others ordered the menudo, gorditas plate, taquitos plate, huevos rancheros, the chicharron burrito, red Chile burrito, and the Chile relleno burrito. All of the food tasted fantastic. There was good flavoring in the each meal. These are authentic Mexican meals. The ambiance was nice, the service was great and the music they were playing was great also. I would definitely go there again. I recommend that if you're passing by this place that you not miss out on trying any of their meals.

Any restaurant using green chili and in house made cheese is going to strike my fancy. Yes the drive is out in the boonies. Expect to to think you're lost, it's about then that you're almost there. The saloon is connected to and supplied by the Lincon Dairy. They share a building. The dairy closes before the saloon so get there earlier if you intend on buying cheese or other dairy products. They also have a little zoo with animals across the parking lot. We didn't venture over, but maybe next time with the kids. We arrived and it didn't look like much outside. Metal buildings and nothing too fancy. There's an outside dining area that mirrors the inside though. The perfectly stained old wood sets the perfect setting for this place. It's not big but it still probably sits about 30 comfortably. They offer coke in a plastic bottle or their house made lemonade (which actually tastes more like lime). The lemonade is not super sweet, but it was definitely good. The only thing I'd say is that it could have had more ice- it was a little warm for my taste. The food was delicious. Try the chips and queso. The queso has a very delicious flavor that keeps you coming back for more. We also got the stuffed peppers for an appetizer and that was so good, I'm going to have to make those at home. Such a simple idea but the cheese in them really stands out. All the cheese in these dishes is the most fresh and tasty you are going to find. My husband ordered the burger with cream cheese and while it was good, he said it needed more jalepenos and maybe some bacon on top. Cream cheese is a bit dry and it almost has a drying effect on the burger. He liked it, but said he would not order that one again. I took a taste and the cream cheese almost made the flavors mute. My burger however was the chili relleno burger and it was amazing! The flavor was there, the freshness of the chili and the cheese was the perfect pairing. The waffle fries were okay, a bit under done. My husband loaded his fries with queso and he enjoyed his more. I will say the burger patty could have been cooked a little less. And next time I may request that. The flavors were there though. For dessert they had flan. A few different flavors. Unfortunately flan isn't something either of us enjoys, but if you do- I bet the ingredients are going to blow the flavor away. I'd love to go back and try the Mac and cheese, tacos, loaded nachos and a few other things. Maybe in time. Until then I'll recommend this place as a good family or date spot.

Unfortunately, one person's approach can completely change what should have been a great experience. I traveled from Houston to El Paso and was excited to visit Cocol after hearing glowing reviews from friends and family. On Tuesday, I stopped in for a quick coffee and received a lukewarm reception from the manager, Angela. She wasn't able to seat two adults and two children, explaining there was a 25-minute wait. That was completely understandable, so I happily ordered everything to go. I mentioned that we planned to return the following morning for breakfast before making the drive back to Houston. To avoid any issues, I asked if we should make a reservation. She confirmed the restaurant opened at 9:00 a.m., and I requested a reservation for that time. After asking me to wait for a moment, she returned and said that because we would have four adults and two children, they don't usually seat parties because they are a small restaurant, so we would have to wait until 9:30 instead. I explained that we had a long drive back to Houston (that's 10 hours with no stops) immediately afterward and asked if there was any flexibility. She declined. I then suggested that we simply stop by at 9:00 and, if the restaurant happened to be busy, we would completely understand waiting. If it wasn't busy, perhaps we could be seated a little earlier. Her response was that they would tell us the exact same thing in the morning. There was no willingness to discuss any options or find a compromise. When I told my local family about the interaction, they were surprised and assumed there had to be a misunderstanding. The next morning, my uncle asked for a table for six. The hostess initially began helping him, but once Angela saw me, she insisted we could not be seated until 9:30. At that moment, there was only one table occupied in the entire restaurant. He also explained that he had come in on Sunday, their busiest day, right at opening with no reservation and was seated immediately with a party of five, so he genuinely could not understand why we were being treated so differently on a weekday when the restaurant was clearly almost empty. My uncle asked to speak with the manager, only to learn Angela was the manager. He then asked if he could speak with the owner, but she declined and simply repeated her position. I honestly don't know what I did to offend her. Throughout the entire interaction, I remained polite and respectful. It wasn't the policy itself that was disappointing--it was the complete unwillingness to work with a customer or even discuss reasonable alternatives. Good customer service is often about finding solutions, not simply proving you're right. We even offered to sit at a table and wait until 9:30 before ordering if that helped their process. That suggestion was immediately rejected as well. Instead, we were told to wait outside, despite having two young children with us. Before writing this review, I wanted to give the owner, Liz, an opportunity to address the situation. I called later that day and asked to speak with her. Ironically, Angela answered the phone, took my information, and said Liz would return my call. I'm still waiting. I do want to recognize our server, Alex, because she was outstanding. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely worked hard to ensure we had a pleasant experience despite the circumstances. She deserves recognition for her professionalism and kindness. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because of Alex. She earned every bit of praise she deserves. Unfortunately, the actions of one person--especially the manager who represents the restaurant--were enough to turn what should have been a memorable stop into a disappointing experience. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively, because Cocol clearly has great food and employees like Alex who deserve leadership that reflects the same level of hospitality.

It once you do find it, I think you'll be satisfied with the list of fresh options you have to choose from. Given the name, most of their sandwiches (breakfast and lunch) are served on croissants or you can opt for a pita wrap. They also serve a variety waffle items and fresh salads. So if you are looking to eat healthy, or satisfy your sweet tooth, you have options. They also serve up a variety of teas, flavored lemonades, and iced, hot or frappe coffees. This was my first visit and d cider on having the turkey with panela cheese croissant. You can choose a side salad, veggies straws or sea salt chips as a side item of you order the combo that also includes a drink. The sandwich was delicious, fresh and light and the salad was also fresh and plentiful. I ordered three separate drinks to try: cucumber lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and the matcha frappe. They were all made fresh with fresh ingredients and not overly sweet like you would find a most other places. I wanted to try their waffle with banana and Nutella but unfortunately they were out, but that's okay because now I have another Eason to come back and try something else. The person working (I assume it's the owner) was very kind and respectful and the only other patron in the restaurant had nothing but nice things to say about all the food on the menu and that they are always eating at this place. So if you're looking for lighter fare options and happen to be in the area, or are just looking for an afternoon getaway, I recommend you stop and give this place a try and support local!
