I have got to say... hands down the best experience I have ever had with any government agency and I am not exaggerating!!! When I walked in, I expected I would have to fight for help like with my previous experience's at the FT WORTH Location, but to my surprise, that was far from the case. Art was so welcoming when I walked in to get help with my Social Security Card. He was kind and spoke to me with respect. He assured be that they would be more than willing to help me. He checked me in. I got my number. Was called to a window with a very nice gentleman named Joseph. He was also kind and handled my case with the upmost professionalism. I don't normally do reviews but I had a problem that was very stressful and upsetting to me, so I called the Denton TX SS office. I spoke with Adam and explained my situation. He was very knowledgeable and was able to explain things to me. He asked me some questions and asked if I could hold for a few minutes. I have called for an appointment 2 times without success. I do speak to a live person on the phone, but I just can't get an appointment to speak to someone directly. I have more than one issue, and it just isn't being explained to me clearly. I was SO IMPRESSED with the service I received at the Social Security office in Denton, Texas. I was in and out in 35 minutes. I had some issues with Medicare, and the employee I spoke with couldn't have been more helpful. He was kind and professional and answered every question I had. I spoke with the security officer when I was leaving, and she was very kind and helpful as well. Amazing! Only a 30 min wait time. Done in less than 10 mins. The gentleman gave me all the info I needed for my name change and he was very nice. Even giving me detailed directions to the DPS office to get my drivers license. Last time I did this in Fort Worth. Wait time was over 4 hrs!!! Had to pay for parking. And it was so packed there. there were people standing all around because there was not enough chairs. And the chairs were rinky dinky plastic almost broken down. Here the chairs were plenty and cushioned. Wait time was short. Friendly and efficient workers. I know it's the size and business of the city. But still. Make the further drive here! Fort Worth should get more workers in their office to help wait time not be over 1-2 hrs. read more

Today was my second time having to go here, both times were for a name change (married.. then divorce). I arrived at 0820 because they open at 0900 and I walked up the building at 0845 to stand in the small line waiting to get in the building, not as terrible as it sounds. As we all made our way in when they opened the doors this very nice taller gentleman stood at the computers that you use to sign in and pick the service you need and he will ask you what you are there for and he punches in the correct buttons and asks you at the end to punch in your social security number.. (which is hidden for your privacy) and then you get a small receipt with a letter and number based on which service you need. Later they call your letter number combo and will tell you which window you need to go to and honestly the entire process for me took literally maybe 15 min. It was the quickest process and they guy who took care of my name change was so kind and thorough. Not one complaint, if only our DMV was half as efficient. read more

Service was smooth and fast. Appointment is needed during this period, limited services due to COVID-19. Review valid from March 2021.

Our son has an incredibly rare syndrome, like 1 out of 6,000,000 rare, and has over 10 specialists and sees 3-4 therapists weekly. Been trying for over 2 years to get assistance for him and we're finally informed 3 weeks ago that nothing can be done in person, we needed a phone appointment. Well, fast forward to today when they were supposed to call at 2:30 so we scheduled our whole day around it and surprise surprise no call! Called the 800 number and for the first time in a year talked to a person after a 45 minute hold time who stated somebody from the office had the audacity to lie and say they had attempted to call us. So now we have to wait another 3 weeks until another phone appointment is available. Just so livid and exhausted from the whole process. read more

Stopped in around noon to get a replacement SS card and was pleasantly surprised. Not only did they have self check-in which was efficient but the staff was fairly friendly. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and definitely would recommend this office if you need any social security services. I feel like places like this need more 5 star ratings when they've earned them, and today this social security office earned it! My new husband and I walked in around 11:30 (masks on) and saw probably close to 50 people waiting. I got deflated pretty fast thinking of how many hours I was about to spend waiting to change my name, something I was obviously pretty excited to do earlier in the morning. Got my letter-number ticket, Q74, saw they were on B's and almost walked out. Luckily we didn't, because I soon figured out there's a method to the madness... maybe... probably? It seemed to me like the A and B groups were for those who had something that would probably take a while. The Q group went relatively fast. From what I gathered, most of the Q's were name changes, and everyone came prepared with the proper documents! I waited maybe 30-45 minutes before I was called to window 18 where a very nice gentleman helped me! It was the most straightforward experience probably ever, he basically said "You just need a name change? Okay can I get your ID and marriage certificate? Okie dokie let me go get your receipt! You should get your new card in 7-10 business days! Congratulations on your marriage! Have a great day!" and then we were on our way! I expected a WHOLE process and issues with my SS-5 form and whatever other tragedy to occur, but everyone I encountered was extremely pleasant, their system seemed to work efficiently, and I was even allowed to get a nose boop from a friendly service dog! Seriously? The rest of the business world works at least 8:00-5:00, but the SSA is only open 9:00-4:00. What's that about? The check-in system is efficient enough, and there were a sufficient number of chairs for the nearly 50 people crowded in the sizable lobby. I waited 35 minutes for 5 minutes of service, it was about what I expected. When I got to the window, the staff member was neither rude nor polite, just completely flat, but the job got done. My sister has advancing Alzheimers Disease, I have Durable POA and Statuatory POA and Medical POA for her. I needed to get her new SSA Card and change her address, etc. My sister had to be interviewed in person by a SSA employee, and had to appear in person at the Denton Office in order to process this request. I was able to call the SSA Office in Washington and she was interviewed over the phone but when I took her to the Denton SSA Office the Uniformed man at the door refused to let us be interviewed privately and ahead of the others (about 8-10 people) waiting. I told him about her condition and he still refused. My sister sat on the floor and started peeling the little blue "feet" off the tile. After over 40 minutes we were called, concluding our business in 5-8 minutes and were ready to leave when my sister became agitated over the situation. I had to ask a young lady waiting for her turn to help me get her to the car and once there had to wait for help getting her inside in order to leave. Because of this practice of "first come, first served" my sister suffered as did I and no doubt the people waiting in the office. I dare say every person in that office would have given up their place in line not to have endured the scene that ultimately prevailed. How cruel can a government entity be to a poor soul. Have been trying to get my full SS benefit - they always tell me they will call you back - never happens - I have bills to pay - I turned 70 last Sept - good luck trying to get your money!! I can't believe they have told me twice now someone will call you back and you cannot go up there without an appt and you can't get that either. I just give up!! read more
