After waiting 47 minutes on the 800 number to get a blocked account unblocked so I could get a new password and apply for Medicare - I called the local office because I need to get the right name put on my social security card - I've been Denis instead of Dennis since day one. I waited less than 5 minutes on hold and then Mrs. Kluber appeared. She was an angel. She made me an appointment for a couple of weeks from now to safely bring in the form in-person to this office and get what I needed done. I mean, WOW. Fantastic customer service for a government office. She was so appreciative when I told her that she did a great job and made my life easy. So, that's why I am writing this review. I don't know about the other rude woman that's referred to earlier, but I can tell you this. Imagine having a job with people like me who was ready for not getting what I called for done? It has to be miserable. So, when you call - be nice. There are people here who are HUMAN & CARE. This is a typical government office but surprisingly it runs smoothly and quickly! Still have to wait awhile if you venture in with no appointment but even then it goes fast. I would still recommend doing most things online but that wasn't an option for us today. read more

It's amazing how it takes almost an hour to get in contact with someone for a simple question. I'm pretty sure the employees here dont do anything all day and at most answer 2-3 phone calls. I've been to this location before and it's a clean location but confusing to get around. I understand government employees have job protection but it shouldn't be to the extent where they disregard 90% of their daily duties. read more

We had to get a replacement card recently and I looked into social security offices in the area. Some have closed in the Valley and this one in Burbank is closer and has good ratings on Yelp. I did try to call their 2 numbers to get an appointment and that was mission impossible, the numbers don't work. That's a problem because you'll wait longer once you get to the place. So, we decided to go over one day during their working hours. There's a free parking lot, pretty big. You go inside, to the left there's a machine where you get your number and then wait till your number is called. You can't bring food and drinks (except water) inside or talk on the phone while you wait (you can text, etc). There's a security guy who keeps his eyes on everyone. The place is clean, there's a big seating area and a few windows open, but for various issues they call people inside, behind the closed doors. It's pretty well organized. We were in and out in about an hour. Customer service was good, the girl who helped us was nice and fast. We should have brought some magazines to read. For a government agency, it's OK. And we got the card in the mail within a week, so it was efficient. read more

Called on a Friday to the Social Security line and the man on the line said I could go into any old social security office and should be fine with no appointment. Well I go to the Glendale office and I was there for over half an hour and my category of service wasn't even being called with only like 3 windows open to like 30+ where each person took at least 20-40 minutes. Do the math! The Glendale office is terrible and should be avoided at all costs! Called the social security line again and spoke to a women who really knew what she was talking about. I believe her name was Laura, not 100% sure. She told me to go Monday super early, never go on the first of any month or first week of any month, avoid Wednesday, what paper work to bring, and to go the one in Burbank. Took her advice and it was a big difference! Was in there for no more than 20 minutes expecting to be there for over an hour. Go to this location. Due to Covid protocols, 4 weeks I was instructed to leave my original birth certificate, my passport, and divorce decree. I was in the process of changing my name on my social security card. The office has lost all my documents!!! All of the staff at this office are rude and condescending, from the security guard, who acts like he is supervising prison inmates, to the office staff and supervisor, who are rude, uncaring and have no problem speaking disrespectful and condescending. Went to this location last week, with no appointment. Figured a would wait a long time, but I took a number, and sat down. Before I knew it, I was the next one up. Then I got to Mrs. Kluber's window, she was so pleasant and helpful. I asked one question she was not sure about, and she turned me over to Mr. Padilla, who was also friendly and helpfull! First time attempting a visit at this location. ( I live nearby) I had no idea it was EXACTLY like the DMV. Slightly smaller. I only wanted to ask a question. Well...And I'll try to be semi-nice...The rental security guard there was in Barney Fife mode. So over the top it was upsetting everyone waiting. I asked him a question and he pointed to the 'check in' kiosk. 'I just have a question' I told him. He says, 'Just take a number and have a seat' Again I ask 'I just need a new card, and didn't think this would be like the DMV' And I got 'Oh well' I attempted to sit and wait, for a little while anyway. It was very quiet in the waiting area, but for some reason this guard would walk through the people seated and point at someone and say 'No talking! You won't hear the numbers called if you don't be quiet! Okay. This guy was a straight up asshole who clearly loves his minimum wage security job a bit too much. He did his first grade angry substitute teacher Shtick about 3 times in 15 minutes. I left. We all know many government employees that are rude and apparently hate their jobs, but this guy was at a whole other level. I did report him to the main Social Security office in Ca. I came around 8:30 on Thursday morning and there was already about 6-10 people waiting. The office opened at 9 a.m. and we were allowed to come after a little issue with the que. The office was very organized and I was out within 30 minutes. The only downside of this place is that the main door is on the east side where the sun rises. I came out two levels darker than I was. I changed my last name and submitted name change with my original documents. They lost my original documents. What's worse is that they did not tell me this for two months so I was waiting for the update in agony. I called numerous times, sometimes I would get disconnected even though all my others calls never did. Seems like they didn't want to deal with me so they would just hang up the phone. Sometimes they told me to be patient or call back in few days. How can you be patient when you were forced to drive around without your drivers license (one of the document that was required to submit). So I did that for three freaking months, called to check on the status without any real answers. After three months of waiting, one of them had the gut to FINALLY tell me that the documents are missing from their office. They said it could either be misplaced and sent to someone else in their envelope (that freaked me out so much more) and that I could either call the USPS to see if anyone had turned it in. Like as if!!!!! COME ON NOW. Do you think that's highly likely???? If they had told me months ago that they had lost it, I would have had started on getting replacements for my drivers license and my other original document. I called wanting a letter from the supervisor to say it was them who had lost it which of course was unanswered so maybe my fees can be waived but they never called me back. I just went earlier today to have my name changed on my Social Security card to my married name. All they asked for was my drivers license and my marriage certificate. I had a wonderful experience there, only waited an hour, and the security guard was extremely pleasant. The employee at the window who helped my husband and myself was extremely efficient and nice. The inside of the office is very clean and the bathroom as well. They also have a nice size parking lot. The level of rudeness from Ms. Torres is beyond fathomable. I've never spoken to someone who clearly HATES her job and doesn't give a shit about anyone she talks to. She laughs at your questions and refuses to answer them; often transferring you to someone else law. This is the bitchiest person at this location and I'm surprised they assign work to her. I'm surprised they even hired her. If you're assigned Ms. Torres request someone else or just give up because she's not going to help you. She will do everything possible to make things worse for you. If she picks up the phone (don't worry you'll know it's her from her attitude) just hang up and call again. You know what you're getting into when you go to a Social Security office-a couple hours (if you're lucky) of being uncomfortably packed into a waiting room with a bunch of other people in bad moods. You're either going to be sitting shoulder to shoulder with a quiet retiree hammering out their monthly payments, the rare regular Joe (or Jane) dealing with some discrepancies with their SS number, or more than likely, a raving mad homeless lunatic who smells like ass and talks loudly to himself. And that's if there's even seating, which there probably won't be--apply everything I just said, but while standing. This isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but it's not the WORST Social Security office I've ever been. In fact, it's kind of alright. Good neighborhood, newer building. The bathroom wasn't too bad, but give it time--the eventual wear and tear of constant use will reduce the commode's quality to a gas station shitter with the typical graffiti and carvings in the wall, the permanent stink of shit and piss, and a coat of water over everything. For the moment, though, it's sufficient. I advise you to pass up on the parking lot altogether and find parking on a nearby side street--the lot is almost always packed, with the token shady guy hanging out pretending to be waiting for a ride. The people working the windows are slow, and that "call your number" system doesn't always work, but again, not the worst. Also, the security guard working at this particular office is a bit of a douche when it comes to cellphone use, but we DO live in fucked-up times, so I understand the need for strictness. Crazier shit has gone down in more mundane places. A minor complaint--I came to this office twice during torrential downpour (you can image how great it smelled), and since you're not allowed to use your phone inside the office, you have to go out to make a call. Well, the overhangs on the building are stamped with holes, meaning you literally get no protection from the elements. If you parked down the street like I recommended, and it's raining or extremely hot out, you're fucked. Then again, though, at least you're not dealing with that parking lot bullshit. read more

This office was great. There's a quick electronic check in kiosk right when you enter(very easy to use) and get a receipt with a number. I showed up at 9:30am on a Wednesday and was walking out the door by 10am. Woman at the window was super friendly and helpful and I was done within 7 minutes. Waiting rooms just a little too small, cheap plastic chairs that are hooked together, bored people waiting and waiting and waiting. But I must say that despite that ambience my experience at the Burbank SSA was not bad at all. I decided to take my chances without an appointment. Made the mistake of going in on a Wednesday when they close early, so the waiting room was pretty packed. But people's numbers seemed to be called fairly quickly and there were no screaming kids or irate people grousing at the employees. I brought my Kindle and just sat back and read a book. Took an hour and 15 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I walked out which I personally think is not bad for coming in without an appointment (I've spent a lot longer at the DMV). And the nice lady at the window solved my problem in about two minutes, with a smile. The fact that they have a big free parking lot is a definite plus! I've heard horror stories about getting your name changed after you get married. When I started the process, I looked online and saw everyone's horror stories, so I expected this to be a total disaster. SURPRISE! It really wasn't a big deal. 1. Yes, you do want to get here 15 minutes or so before they open. There will be a huge line. 2. Yes, you will need to bring your paperwork. The lady asked to see my driver's license, old social security card and my marriage license. (I also brought my birth certificate and multiple copies of the marriage license, just in case) 3. Yes, you will wait in a weird room full of people, many of whom are old, and some of whom are smelly. I didn't bother to try to get an appointment... but I did show up early. I stood in line. There were a TON of people here with business more serious than mine, as they are old enough to collect benefits and are trying to survive and stuff. I stood in the corner, listened to music on my headphones and waited it out. I didn't use the bathroom, for fear that my number would be called. I was out before 9:15. Those of you who have written ugly negative reviews should remember that this is a government office, NOT a high end retail store. Sometimes people go to work not feeling well or when they have a personal tragedy in their lives. A little kindness goes a long way. That being said, my experience at this office has been positive. Last time I was there, it was very busy, but my daughter and I were out of there in about an hour. That's less time than I usually spend at my orthopedist's office. So, you get your number from a large machine. Then you sit around waiting for one of the teller windows to call your name. I had the misfortune of being in the bathroom when my number was called. Once your number passes, they don't know what to do with you. They're like robots that weren't programmed to deal with that situation. They first try to ignore you if you approach their window, then they get nervous and try to pass you to someone else's window, then they tell you that my number hadn't been called (it had). I gave them two stars (instead of one), because after 45 minutes, someone did hear my bathroom story and finally helped me. So, treat going to the Social Security Administration like you would going to surgery... no food or water for at least 8 hours before. read more

I've been to the social security office a couple times with my mom and once with my friend. My experience at this location has always been the worst to be honest. Always a long wait time, even with appointment, rude representatives, the parking, etc. The people here are like blood sucking vampires, I'm not talking about the people that work behind the windows at the front, they're nice. I'm talking about the reps that work in the office. I know they're only doing their jobs, but I can't help but feel contempt whenever I come here. My friend lost her benefits, because she was making too much money, long story short, her rep was the absolute worst, a real piece of work. The only SSA office I'd ever been to was the old Glendale one, which I hated. When it came time to change my name, I decided to try the Burbank location instead. All I have to say is that this was a really great experience. I went there yesterday (Friday) and I ended up getting there around 9:20 and was able to find a parking spot right away. Just remember that as soon as you walk in to check in at the kiosk so that you can get a number. Thankfully it wasn't terribly crowded when I got there and my number was called fairy quickly. I was done in about 30 minutes or so. The lady that was helping me in window 1 was really sweet and friendly (didn't catch her name though). The actual process of changing my name went by smoothly and she said I would get my new SS card in 5-7 business days. Try to make an appointment, if you can. I didn't because I had planned on showing up right when they opened (9 AM on a Friday), but there was already a long line out the door when I got there. There's a pretty big lot but it was already completely full at 9:05 AM, so I had to park on the street. An employee will help you check-in at the kiosk - I think they only do this when there's a line though, because later on the employee was gone and people were just checking themselves in. They have a TV screen up on the wall with numbers that are being served, but they DON'T match up with the numbers being called, so I would just ignore it. People watching the screen for their numbers would go up to the counters, only to be told to sit down and wait. So, just keep your ears open for your number! And don't try to cut, the security guard will reprimand you in front of everybody. The employee who helped me was super funny and helpful, and my whole visit only took about 30 minutes, I think they call numbers based on what you're there for? I've discovered that when dealing with any government office, one must suffer the obligatory fumigation. Just one of the rules. Stinky people just happen. And they just happen to always sit next to me. Aside from the above, I found this office to offer one of the best experiences I've had with a government agency. Granted, my situation was simple. I was changing my name due to marriage. The woman I dealt with (window 3 at 11:45 12/22) was very nice. Pleasant in an authentic way. I've worked lots of retail, and I can tell when people are faking it. The visit was also fairly quick. I came in at 11:15 and am now reviewing my visit at 12:19.
