When we started our wedding process, we had so much anxiety around how we wanted our day to look. We started with just white flowers and some greenery. We had our first appointment with Sonja and right off the bat we vibed with her. She was so patient in trying to understand how we wanted our day to look while also helping us in checking some other things off our list. We left that appointment feeling super connected and trusted her with making our day perfect. We hit that point that I think every couple does, Oh shit I don't know if thats what we actually want! We made another appointment with Sonja, she will do ANYTHING to accommodate you within reason, and we workshopped for almost 3 hours. We left that appointment JAZZED about how our day would look now that we got over the "no color" hump. Cut too our wedding day. When I tell you our day looked like a dream because of Sonja I don't say this lightly. She met us at our hotel with floral we needed for photos, she arrived at the venue early, and made sure everything was perfect. When Joe and I walked into our reception space we nearly passed out. We were moved to tears and I couldn't believe how absolutely PERFECT Sonja made our day. Our guests kept saying our wedding was elegant, classy, not overdone and the word magical kept coming up. Sonja's patience is remarkable and her attention to detail is unmatched. We have her to thank for making our wedding look and feel like a dream. Pinterest aint got NOTHING on our girl Sonja! I loved the gesture of showing us the Castle's most favorite hotel room ... the bridal suite. The view from this room is magnificent. We do our own tour of the garden after lunch. We took our time exploring and enjoyed taking photos. We had a reservation after the tour at its restaurant. The management gave us a10% discount for taking the tour. I made a separate review for its restaurant. The inside of the mansion is meticulously decorated classy. I am impressed how they maintained the house especially their hotel rooms. I can't imagine how magnificent weddings celebrations are being held here. This place is a good venue choice... the huge dining hall and its beautiful ballroom stand out. One of the things about it past the fact that it dwarfs Downton Abbey (for this who don't know that is the name of an estate) and is literally like stepping back in time into absolute Sumptuousness and luxury was this feeling of safety we felt. I did not expect it- I read that it is haunted and being that it is COLOSSAL in size, I expected to feel uneasy or creeped out a bit. I did not however; In fact I felt oddly welcomed. We stayed in the dead of winter on a weekday off season when no events or even many people stayed. I can say that I am pretty sure we were completely alone in the wing we were in and not once did I feel nervous or vulnerable. I read that Otto Kahn the original owner who built it, was scared of fire. The entire place was built to be fireproof with stone and concrete. I loved that and it made me even more comfortable. The place feels magic and protective! Such a rarity. You can feel the love put into this place. The halls that lead to the room in this wing were ...unusual. Weird murals of the sound of music. I get it. It was whimsey at the time it was done in I think maybe the 1980s. no big deal. Spotlessly clean and well lit. Was a little shining-esq...you know...the overlook. Still had zero chills or jeebies. The room we stayed in was basic- must have been redone in the late 80s or maybe early 90s. It was a bit dated with a lot of beige and travertine tiles, yellow gold fixtures etc. (Next time I will spring for a room that fits the rest of this place for the full experience) Nevertheless It was well enough to have served its purpose but I will say this; IT WAS IMMACULATE. Sterile. I am not sure how it could be this outdated but also be as fresh and polished as the day it was done. It smelled fresh and shined and was very well appointed right down to luxurious white Terry robes. The rugs were clean and fresh. The giant heavy gaudy sleigh bed was decked with luxe creamy sheets and was so comfortable. I am a design snob, I choose place based on this factor; Between the downstairs Lavishness, and the clean and details in the room- I was more than satisfied. We meandered around from humongous ball room to room. woodwork and stone and antiquities ....views... I feel like we didn't even cover a fraction and we were blown away. I am posting some pictures. If I am being honest, I felt like royalty staying here for a simple staycation for the night. I could go one and on. we plan to come back and stay in the Gatsby or carnegie suite in the spring. I feel like the price is reasonable here for a basic room comparable to most hotels that far outdoes any silly Hilton or Hampton inn. Why would anyone stay anywhere else when this is here? First, the "ladies lounge" (AKA the restroom) only appeared to be located on the first floor. The event we were attending was on the second floor, so this was just wildly inconvenient to constantly have to go downstairs. Plus, it was usually a bit of a mess in there. Paper towels strung all over the place. A random mop hanging out in front of the stalls. I get that it was a Friday night and that there was a second event taking place at the same time, but they had a LOT of staff that seemed to prefer standing around instead of working to keep the restroom tidy... Also, there was a lot of confusion as to where to put our empty plates. The buffet was located in the room across the hall from where the event we were attending was being held. Some people took their plates back across the hall to enjoy their meal at a table, while some of us just stood around in the room with the food and chose to enjoy our meals away from the loud dance floor. When we were finished eating, we had no idea what to do with our empty plates. We asked a staff member as they were walking by and he didn't seem to know what to do with them, either, which was perplexing. He grabbed one of his coworkers who then took our plates from us. Overall, this was a pretty good experience from a guest's perspective! The venue is VERY large and accommodates for very big guest lists, which is a huge advantage. However, I do think the staff could use some better training to help lessen overall confusion and to help keep the place in a cleaner condition while the event space is being used.

Samir gave us a tour around the entire property and he explains everything, asked all of our questions, & even took photos of us around the venue. He wanted us to cherish our time on the property and be able to go back and look at photos of us on the property just to remember. He was so kind and his customer service skills were above and beyond. When the tour was complete we were offered drinks (even alcohol) and were given tons of pastry treats to try. It was an unbelievable experience. Although it wasn't the right place for us, it can be the right place for someone else!!!! I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out!

The people here - the staff are indeed the most important asset and they are golden, they are solid and consistent. The beds are comfy. I slept really well. The seating area in the suites is roomy and inviting. The showers are strong . The housekeeping team always smiles and is so helpful. The location is so convenient- just off Sunnyside Blvd on the Long Island Expwy only 28 miles from Manhattan and 21 from JFK airport. There are great restaurants in Plainview and Melville close by and the one n only Ralphie's Cafe is a 77 second walk from the lobby. The prices are great. There's a bounce and play area with slides in the back and the rest of the place is an arcade. Arcades include your typical skee ball, basketball, wheel spin, etc. They use the old school system of arcade machines that give you those long lines of tickets whenever you win. My kids were fascinated by this setup since it's different from every place else that just has your earnings on the card. They have been clamoring to return ever since. We'll definitely be returning for more out-of-this-world fun!

A few of them were not functioning, and I felt bad asking the staff to replenish the tickets for them to open the machines and there be tickets inside, but obviously not their fault. There was also a large bounce house and a gym area for the kids to run around, and overall I thought it fit the age group very well. Afterwards, they had pizza (from Franks across the street - our favorite) Overall, would definitely recommend for birthday parties, and will be checking out open play in the future.
