I have passed the sign for the restaurant on numerous occasions when driving along Headstone Lane…read morewithout ever really thinking about looking up its' details. So tonight the Other Half said "let's go for something to eat. Where do you want to go?". Now this is a leading question because we eat predominantly Indian Vegetarian whenever we go out to eat. Now I hope you don't think this is cheating but I have a Tastecard so, during the week, we can get 50% off or 2 for 1 meals. So we called them (as sometimes you have to for certain restaurants participating in this scheme) and booked a table and jumped in the car ( we only live live 5 minutes away!). OK, so the signage that I passed was on Headstone Lane. It turns out it's actually tucked away down a side turning called Broadfields. Turning into, and driving down Broadfields, it seems unprepossessing, I mean it's at the end of a a cul-de-sac which doesn't look like it leads anywhere!!!! There was a large gate at the bottom, which was half open, with a large sign announcing Broadfields Country Club and Mumbai Gardens Restaurant. Once we drove through the gates, it was rather hard to work out where we were meant to go. There was a building immediately in front of us (very much the back of it) so we drove to the right only to find that THAT definitely wasn't the front of the building. Turned round and drove round the other side, which seemed equally devoid of life. We parked and walked along the patio and found a door that opened..... into a room the size of a football pitch (ok maybe I'm exaggerating just a little)! It was a really nice, huge room, modern glass-topped tables and pretty, high-backed chairs and three waitresses standing at the back and, er, waiting. We ordered drinks, starters and two curries together with jeera rice and peshwari naan. They ask if you want your food made mild or medium, which was quite welcome. The food was very nice, good portions although seemed all to have been cooked in the same sauce. In conclusion, the food is very nice, the staff attentive and caring. It's a nice venue although the ambience was sadly lacking as we were the only ones there until half an hour before we left. The main shortcoming was the lack of clear signage on the building with regard to parking and to indicate the restaurant entrance. If you didn't know it was there, you would never know the restaurant existed and I don't see how it will stay in business without attempting to advertise and get it noticed a lot more!

This is the place to be if you want good quality Indian food, but served quick. It's not the place…read moreto go for an expensive special celebration meal if you are expecting fancy tableware and everything to be classy. You can find parking on the residential roads and take a short walk to the restaurant. It's also close to the underground station. The place is not big, but as the service is quick, the tables turnaround in good time. Staff are very helpful and you can bring your own drinks (at no extra charge) as long as its not soft drinks as they serve those. I brought a bottle of wine and they only had normal drinking glasses to offer. So if you are particular, bring your own glasses too! We ordered a mix of starters and mains and would have ordered a lot more, but we were so full. They have such a variety of dishes.

My favourites are the steam lamb, fish tikka, grilled lamb chops, chicken shammi kebabs, karahi methi chicken and karahi keema. The naans are excellent. If you want booze, bring your own from home or one of the local off-license shops close by. The passion juice offered is a bit radioactive orange and looks syrupy sweet. Service is fast, efficient and friendly. Amazing how busy this place gets so either go early or plan for takeout if you don't want to wait. Amazing food output for such a tiny place. Hope they keep up their quality long term.

Came here for Namaste Lounge's brunch, which they also host on weekdays which is awesome since most…read morerestaurants in Long Island only offer brunch on weekends. My parents and cousin were excited to go here since it's her favorite restaurant so we made reservations and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had massive windows with tons of natural light coming in by the dining area, which was really nice and refreshing even with the rainy weather. They also have a nice outdoor space (probably only open in the summer?) which looked nice. I let my cousin order the brunch dishes for herself and my parents, and I ordered the lamb biryani because it sounded delicious and my cousin highly recommended it. The brunch items were pretty good, even though they're dishes I normally don't like to eat. Those fries were delicious, drenched in this addictive tangy sauce and cooked perfectly. (Not crispy though) That biryani was amazing and this may be oddly weird, but that layer of dough on top to keep it hot and juicy, fell in my biryani and got mixed in by accident, but it tasted really good too- it soaked up the thick spices on the lamb. That biryani was the best I've had in my life so, highly recommend that! Side note - use the chutneys they give you. They're flavor boosters and delicious! Cons: slow service but I've noticed it's a British thing...
