My parents and cousin were excited to go here since it's her favorite restaurant so we made reservations and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had massive windows with tons of natural light coming in by the dining area, which was really nice and refreshing even with the rainy weather. They also have a nice outdoor space (probably only open in the summer?) which looked nice. I let my cousin order the brunch dishes for herself and my parents, and I ordered the lamb biryani because it sounded delicious and my cousin highly recommended it. The brunch items were pretty good, even though they're dishes I normally don't like to eat. Those fries were delicious, drenched in this addictive tangy sauce and cooked perfectly. (Not crispy though) That biryani was amazing and this may be oddly weird, but that layer of dough on top to keep it hot and juicy, fell in my biryani and got mixed in by accident, but it tasted really good too- it soaked up the thick spices on the lamb. That biryani was the best I've had in my life so, highly recommend that! Side note - use the chutneys they give you. They're flavor boosters and delicious! Cons: slow service but I've noticed it's a British thing...

If you just fancy going for drinks, Bombays whoops the local Wetherspoons hands down. They have an amazing selection of cocktails, beers and wines and even have some odd spirits such as a Scorpian Vodka (actually has a real scorpian in the bottom of the bottle)! The food is really good, but for me personally can be a bit on the spicy side. I am utterly useless with hot food though, so Im certain this is more my intolerance rather than the Chefs over enthusiasm. If you're there to eat and drink for the evening it can work out a bit pricey, but you pay for what you get and I certainly wouldnt say it's really expensive or anything. The decor is contemporary and the staff all know exactly what they're doing and are highly efficient. They do have plasma screens in there too, which often play music in the background, and sometimes football if there is a high profile match on. The bar can also be hired out for private parties.

Up until 18 months ago this was probably the best Indian Restaurant in outer London and wouldave given some of the famous central Lonon Restaurants a run for their money. It is rumoured that the Indian Cricket team used to get their food shipped from here when they played in London. Note, however, that this is an Indian Restaurant and not a Bangladeshi restaurant. The food is fiercely Indian and there is not much on the menu that you would recognise from a standard curry house. The sad thing though is that about 18 months ago the owners fell out and parted ways. Since then the restaurant has not been so busy and the standard of the food has slipped. My understanding is that the awesome team of chefs has now been split over several restaurants in the area including Baad Sahib which is only a few doors down. Sahib's is still a cut above the rest but nowhere near as good as it was. If you do happen to go then treat yourself to the Chilli Panner and the Garlic Tiger Prawns. They are to die for.

The only questionable thing they do is the plate of pickles served when you arrive. THey do not fit terribly well with the rest of the food. I woudl recommend that the best way to approach the food here is to have a large selection fo starters and go on to the main courses only if you feel you really need to. Once you have tried the lamb chops, the chilli paneer, the tiger prawns, Chilli chicken wings, the cubed chicked tikka and a black daal then there is little room for other food. Votive candles on each table and a large mirror on the empty wall would do much to improve the lack of ambiance and give the place a larger feel... super friendly owner who was very open to all these ideas and if he follows through I look forward to a return on my next trip... There's a lot of competition for Indian takeaways in the area, and especially online where it's just as convenient to click on one restaurant as it is on another. Hence why it shows just how good Secrets is that I haven't even looked at another Indian restaurant online for what must be at least the last year or so. I'm slowly working my way through the menu, with the most recent order comprising a chicken jalfrezi, paneer tikka, pilau rice and meat samosas. We normally order the paneer, and it is simply excellent every time. Springy fresh cheese, in decent sized cubes, perfectly grilled (I've no idea if they use a tandoor or a grill, but whatever it is - it works. The chicken jalfrezi was succulent, with a rich deep and very satisfying sauce. I really like the little strings of ginger Secrets puts in their sauces, there was some in the jalfrezi sauce this time around and quite a lot in the keema we had last time around. But that's fine, as like I said, I really enjoy it. We were also very fortunate this time around as they delivered much earlier than the estimate. You can't always expect a restaurant to do that, but it certainly gets a thumbs up from me when they do!
