Genuinely the best Indian food I've ever had in my life. We just ordered a bunch of stuff, from…read moresamosas and butter chicken to kabab and broccoli salad. Absolutely nothing we didn't love! Service was also fantastic! I noticed they're super intentional about allergies and brought out an entire tablet for my friend to cross-reference with the menu.

Dishoom Covent Garden is a modern Indian restaurant inspired by the Irani cafés of Bombay,…read morecombining traditional Indian flavors with a vintage atmosphere and carefully designed interior. We walked into a space that felt different from a typical Indian dining experience because of the attention to detail in the décor, lighting, and overall atmosphere. The room had a classic yet lively feel, with a balance between old-world charm and a more upscale restaurant setting that made it feel like a place we could enjoy for both a casual meal or a special occasion. The food is the biggest reason to visit, with a menu that focuses on bold flavors and a mix of traditional dishes and modern interpretations. We ordered a few items and found the Chicken Ruby one of the standout dishes, with tender chicken and a rich, flavorful sauce that had a good balance of spices without becoming overwhelming. The Black Daal is another signature item and is worth trying because of its slow-cooked texture and deep flavor, with a comforting quality that paired well with the naan and other breads from the menu. Beyond the more well-known dishes, Dishoom has a variety of smaller plates that made it easy to try different flavors. The Gunpowder Potatoes and Okra Fries were great options if we wanted something to share, while dishes like lamb chops, biryani, and paneer provided more variety depending on our preferences. The menu had enough options for both people looking for familiar Indian dishes and those wanting to explore something different. The drinks are also an important part of the experience, especially the chai. The restaurant's chai has become one of its most recognizable items and fit well with the café-inspired concept. Having a warm drink alongside the food added to the overall atmosphere and made the meal feel more complete rather than just focused on the main dishes. One thing to keep in mind is that Dishoom can get very busy, especially during peak dinner hours. Reservations are helpful when available, but the restaurant also manages walk-ins with a queue system. If we did have to wait, the complimentary chai while waiting was a nice touch and made the process feel less inconvenient. The Covent Garden location was also in a convenient area for exploring nearby attractions before or after our meal. The team moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the experience smooth without feeling rushed. Overall, Dishoom Covent Garden is one of the most memorable Indian dining experiences in London. The combination of flavorful food, unique atmosphere, and thoughtful service makes it stand out from a standard Indian restaurant. Between the signature dishes, café-inspired design, and welcoming environment, it is a place we would recommend adding to a London itinerary, especially for anyone looking to experience Indian cuisine in a different way.

This restaurant was recommended to me by someone who comes here whenever they're in London and it did not disappoint. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant is very busy/popular. I decided to have lunch on my own and there was about a 15 minute wait. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind, and the inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so it sets a cool and intimate vibe. It's a very vibrant atmosphere. The menu had so many delicious options to choose from. I went with the vegetable samosas to start and a fresh nimbu soda which was very refreshing. For my main dish I had the chicken ruby and a said of garlic naan. Everything was so incredibly fresh. The food was served as soon as it was done being prepared and the flavors were immaculate!!!! 10 out of 10! No notes! And I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking. For delicious Indian food.

We managed to snag a reservation here before coming to London on a Saturday around 6:30 PM. We got there right on time and and our table was ready immediately. We had great booth in the back of the restaurant so it wasn't too loud. We all ordered some drinks when we sat down and opted for a Kingfisher to drink. For appetizers, we got some samosas and chili chicken which were delicious! They also gave us some of these rice crackers with different sauces which were delicious. For our entrees, we got some biryani, ruby chicken and rice, malai chicken, the gunpowder potatoes and 3 orders of naan! It was all delicious! The biryani with the yogurt sauce is my personal favorite but their garlic naan is great too. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake and I opted for the chai to end the meal which was delicious! This meal was stunning and you must stop by Dishoom while in London.

Quality/Quantity - What a great find, and this review shows…read morethe positive power of Yelp. We discovered this local restaurant through Yelp, and so did the other 2 tables next to us. We found out at the end of our meal that one of the other tables was also from our hotel, a mile walk away. Overall, I think a simple menu done well. We got everything they recommended including the recommended beer from the table next to us. Plain Papadum & Chutney Tray - A must try! Suggestion, these two items should be together on your menu to avoid any confusion on pricing. The sauces also went well with our entree and naan. Tandoori Mix Grill - Good, perfect amount for both of us. As mentioned previously, we are light eaters, especially when traveling. This entree also came with a very light simple salad. Garlic Naan - I can eat this all day! This could even be my meal. After Dinner Chocolates - A nice unexpected touch. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Bathrooms need some TLC, but are functional. Indoor/outdoor dining; everyone ate indoors today. Open 7 days a week. Service - Good, had all 3 wait staff help us. This kind of confused us. They were good at upselling, but all 3 team members tried to upsell us. Not in a bad way, but it kept me laughing. I am a light eater, especially when traveling. They all made light small talk which was nice. It was obvious that everyone eating here was NOT local. They also have online promotions, see their website. Price - 28 pounds + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success, I am so glad that you can benefit from Yelp. See you on our next visit as we were so happy with our hotel we plan to stay there again.
