    Blackened Haddock

Not sure if I'd call this a hidden gem, but this is where the locals flock to, so that's telling. We stopped by here on a Friday evening, not expecting it to be so crowded. We had to wait for about 20 minutes before we got a table, which was ok. They have a bar area, which is quite crowded, and then a quieter area for dine-in folks, which is where most families were seated. We got seated at a cozy booth. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu in detail. The menu has a lot to offer. We ordered the French Onion Soup, Shrimp and Grits, and the all you can eat fish Friday special, which is basically fish (Haddock) made as per your choice baked, blackened or fried and comes with fries and coleslaw. We tried a blackened style and later a fried style. The food was absolutely wonderful. I particularly loved the shrimp and grits. The staff did let me know beforehand that the grits are not the usual style but in the form of grit cake, which was wonderful. We will definitely be back.

The meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy were very good, the onion straws were crispy and hot. The Chicken parmesan was very crispy with a very tasty marinara sauce. We loved the Italian spring rolls and Fried cheesecake balls. The service was great, out waitress was on point without hovering on top of us our drinks stayed full. The ambiance is very homey and comfortable definitely a locals place we really enjoyed everything.

Really cool vibe here. Is it just a train enthusiastic owner or a former train station or a salute to a nearby train station .....inquiring minds want to know. Great decor. The food was abundant and served piping hot. I got the brisket dog with chili topping. Like nothing I've ever eaten before. A flavorful char, spicy, kielbasa like chew on a huge bun. Tasted like a scouting event hot dog roast on a stick but elevated. Fries were so potato flavored. We love ketchup and vinegar but didn't want to spoil what was already perfect to us. The bog balls -the name and intrigue got to us. Odd combo of rice, kielbasa, cheese and chicken. It was odd but really a good bite! Reminded me of clam cake batter with the rice, kielbasa/chicken flavors within My aunt got the patty melt-mouth watering deliciousness, mom Got the open faced roast beef and wow that was impressive! Lots of rich gravy, large slices of meat and creamy potatoes. I was drooling across the table. Our buddy Bre got the shrimp Alfredo-super creamy and loaded with shrimp. We all went home with 1/2 our meal. So much delish food! Would have loved an adult beverage (the bloody Mary's looked intriguing!) or dessert but we were stuffed!! Will return here again!

This is the place that locals come to eat. It's an experience of deliciousness and just super friendly people. They are in a strip shopping center and parking isn't an issue. Greeted by hostess who sat us right away. On way to table a server saw us, said hello and told us to enjoy our lunch. That's the vibe. Just down home people who make you feel appreciated for coming in and want to make sure that you have a terrific experience. The menu is chock full of delicious food and drinks. Nobody would have an issue finding something to eat here! They are a 'Pittsburgh' bar so they have some of the local things found on that area (fried in salad - it's great so stop making a face, etc). Ordered grilled chicken salad Pittsburgh style, 2 steak salads Pittsburgh style, and the fried fish platter. All were wonderful. The fish is flaky and grilled to perfection. Salads are huge and they even know to serve them with two sides of dressings. You are going to throw down very little funds for the portion and quality of food that you will get! Just absolutely fantastic. Don't sleep on this one. You will be back!

Fantastic meal on a busy Friday. All the locals eat here and now I know why. Worth checking out and the menu selection is amazing. Everyone enjoyed their food in our party.

Is smoking allowed indoors? Does it smell like smoke inside?

It is not allowed indoors. There is space outside where people do smoke near the entrance but there is no noticeable smoke inside.

How far in advance can you call for a reservation?

Hi, I haven't had any issues calling a day or two ahead. They get very busy during happy hour times.

She was pleasant and patient, considering we had three teenagers at the table with one of them ordering like 5-6 sodas (to my dismay and horror lmao). She joked she should get one of our kids a pitcher. We had the fried chicken, the fried pork chop, chicken dumplings, and the BBQ ribs. Our favorite were the ribs. The sides were a hit. We got the fried okra, the mashed potatoes, the mac and cheese, green beans and fries. For the additional side it is $2.99 a person. Honestly, I felt the sides were so tasty & better than some of the meat dishes. The fried pork chop and the chicken and dumplings were not a hit at our table, but we did devour the fried chicken and get an extra order of ribs. We had no idea that this was a bottomless refill, but I don't know how anyone orders more than one extra entree because the portions are huge and quite filling. We were lucky to get a table close to the window so we could have a nice view. All of the workers were courteous & kind. If you are super hungry & have a larger party, you have to come here at least once, while visiting Broadway at the Beach. They also brought out biscuits to our table while waiting for our food, and those are hefty and warm. Hooray for another good Southern eatery during our visit to Myrtle Beach.

We stood in long lines during their popular years for hours in the morning, just to get a table reservation for dinner later that evening. Crazy as that sounds, it was always fun because we had such great conversations with people from all over the country while waiting. We also enjoyed meals there during the final days when standing in a morning line was no longer necessary. So I can say without any reservation that we would have never returned if the food we had today was being served back then. Paula Deen's fried chicken once upon a time was EPIC. But IMHO, this current offering in comparison is night and day to the deliciousness once served in Savannah. As a matter of fact, we didn't enjoy any of the meats or sides. Our food experience tasted like an entirely different restaurant recipe and to top it off the chicken was overcooked and dry, something we never experienced at Lady & Sons. After sharing our disappointment with management, our bill was cancelled (except for my cocktail) and we left, likely never to return. What a disappointing end to a fabulous food era, because the food at Lady and Son's was one of our families favorite reasons to vacation near Savannah. It was almost always the first meals of our vacation, but the food we were served on this most recent visit to Myrtle Beach they can keep. On a brighter note, the restaurant interior is beautiful and the location is fantastic. The staff were friendly and our server pretty much brought out the entire menu trying to satisfy us. Each bite of each item was so disappointing that I asked him not to bring anything else, but he insisted on finding something, anything redeeming. Unfortunately, nothing he brought out was to our liking, but we did appreciate the effort. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] If you've never been to Lady and Son's, then the food here at Paula Deen's Family Kitchen might be acceptable. But I will forever miss what it used to taste like and the excitement my family had when I announced we would be eating at Lady & Sons! Management said they use the same recipes, but my taste buds heavily disagree.
