Birthday girl enjoying some fried Tempura Ice Cream
Anna N.

First time in the area and was very impressed with the food, service, and everything in between! Here's what we had: - Green curry with Tofu (10/10, made for nice leftovers the next morning) - Pineapple Curry with Chicken (perfect amount of sweet and savory) - Spinach curry with Peanut Oil and Tofu (delicious) - Pad Thai with beef (highly recommend, also great for leftovers) - free tempura fried ice cream for my best friends birthday (yummy of course) - Thai tea (VERY sweet) Our waitress was kind and helpful. She went out of her way to double check peanut contaminants for my friend who is allergic. Got seated right away and enjoyed the overall ambiance of the restaurant. I will definitely be returning!

I am a fan of Soberfish (which has a full bar for the record). Fresh ingredients, artfully prepared at a fair price. The service is consistently attentive. To top it off, the setting is charming. Never had a bad meal here. I should go more often and so should you!

We went out of our way to eat here since the breakfast place we originally wanted to eat had a long wait. Our server was super attentive and friendly. Service overall was great. My wife's cup of water had an imprint of the previous diner which was disturbing. Starting with the sushi, it was evident that attention to detail was lacking. The rice, a fundamental element of any sushi dish, was disappointingly hard, almost to the point of being unpalatable. To make matters worst, this error was repeated not once, but twice during our meal, suggesting a systemic issue in the kitchen's preparation process. Moving on to the fried rice, one would expect a comforting blend of flavors and textures. Instead, what awaited us was a dish plagued by the same hard and unyielding rice encountered in the sushi. Frying the already tough rice only served to exacerbate the issue, resulting in a dish that was difficult to chew and ultimately unsatisfying. The Pad Thai, often a highlight of Thai cuisine, fell flat in terms of flavor and execution. Instead of the harmonious balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors that define this dish, we were met with an overwhelming sweetness that drowned out any semblance of complexity. Furthermore, the choice of thick and chewy noodles only added to the dish's lackluster appeal. Overall, my dining experience at Soberfish was marred by subpar ingredients, lackluster execution, and a noticeable absence of flavor. It is my hope that the establishment takes heed of these shortcomings and endeavors to rectify them, lest they risk alienating discerning diners seeking a fusion restaurant. We left the table exactly how it was presented to us, paid and left. Waitress brought boxes for us but the dishes cannot be saved.

Thai holy basil (but where is the basil?).

I just picked up, and threw out, their lunch special. I ordered Thai Holy basil, which the menu says is spicy, and is normally prepared with Thai chiles and holy basil. I was served a pile of barely cooked green peppers and onions with a few pieces of chicken and mushrooms tossed on top. The sauce was clear and tasted like cornstarch - I don't even know what they could have made it with? Thai holy basil is normally made with fish sauce, hoisin and soy. It was flavorless and it's clear that the veg and chicken were precooked and the sauce was poured on top. It definitely was not cooked from scratch in a wok. The person who took my order was nice, but I just can't with the food. It was clearly just assembled and not cooked. I definitely won't be back.

Soberfish has delicious sushi and Thai food! I ordered the salmon roll and California roll and my boyfriend ordered pad Thai. They have two lunch species, both are $14 Thai lunch special: one Thai entree and soup or salad or an appetizer. Sushi lunch special: 2 sushi rolls. Service was great - it was quick and our waiter was friendly. They only have street parking, so parking can be difficult to find sometimes. Overall rating: 10/10

I always enjoy going to Soberfish! It has a good menu with something for everyone, and the happy hour pricing is great. Service can be a little hit or miss, especially depending on the time of day. Typically I'll come here for sushi because it's always fresh and tasty. Recently, though, I tried the drunk fish noodles and was pleasantly surprised! All of their noodle, curry, and rice dishes have the option to add tofu, mock duck, chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, or calamari. I like the options for customization! The portion size was generous for the cost. I'll definitely return to try other non-sushi items. They've got a rotating draft list that always includes some great local brews. The cocktails are reasonably priced as well. Parking can be a challenge, especially during the winter months. There's a small, shared lot behind the building that's usually full. Plan to park on the street and walk a block or two.

Been here multiple times and it never fail to satisfied my taste bud. Before graduating from college this is a place that is close to my college ( Augsburg). Every time I come back here, the food just always taste so good. First time trying the green mussels and it was pretty good. I don't know what they put on top, but it was delicious. As for the wing, it would be great if the wing was actually well mix with the sauce, but it taste good. The wing are pretty big too! The drunken noodle was good, however i feel like there wasnt enough noodles, it had a lot of veggies. The last but not least, the fiery beef salad. That was so delicious I couldn't finish it . I had it spicy and it was pretty spicy, however it can be handle. The portion of the food was just right and the services was amazing! Overall, a place I would always come back to!

Side Kick ($9). Refreshing cocktail on a hot day. Not too sweet.

Soberfish is a Thai and sushi spot that serves mainstream dishes but didn't wow me in any way. The oshinko maki ($5) is vegan by default and not bad but not particularly memorable. The kanpyo ($5) is vegan by default and fine but unremarkable. The W8 Chinese broccoli ($13) is vegan by default but really bland. It's a stir-fry in a bland, clear sauce that was piled on way too much. The vegetables were drowned and flavorless as a result. The W1 Thai holy basil ($13) is vegan by default and also flavorless. There's too much sauce and the the dish didn't really feel stir-fried. It was like they steamed the vegetables and then just poured the sauce on top. The service is friendly. It's a decent space. But if you're looking for better Thai food, go to Amazing Thailand in Minneapolis or Phi Chay in St. Paul. If you want better sushi, go to Kyatchi in Minneapolis.

Thai restaurant. The sushi was decent, like any normal sushi at other places. The noodles was a lot better, the flavors are within every bite. It's classified as spicy but wasn't that spicy. The service was brief and the servers were really nice. A lot of window for light to come through, very open space.

We began with the Roasted Cashews, which were perfectly seasoned and addictive. For mains, the Red Curry was rich, complex, and comforting, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the Pineapple Fried Rice. Hands down, the best version we have ever had--perfectly balanced sweetness and savory depth. The drink pairings were spot on: I enjoyed a lovely glass of Pinot Noir that complemented the spice beautifully, while my partner had a crisp, cold Sapporo. The service is friendly. We were greeted shortly after entering. The restaurant was fairly busy, with many others dining in, and many takeout orders coming in as well, but we were seated right away! Several employees checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our food throughout our dining experience! They have many vegetarian and gluten free options. They also have some vegan options or items that can be made vegan upon request! We had the cream cheese wontons as an appetizer! The filling was very smooth and creamy and slightly sweet. We also had pad see yew with tofu and pad thai with mock duck. The servings are generous and each entree can easily last for 2 meals. They include a lot of the protein of choice, which I greatly appreciate. Some thai restaurants ask you for your desired level of spice, but we weren't asked here. They were mild (no spice) by default. The pad see ew had a savory, slightly sweet flavor. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the Chinese broccoli had a nice little crunch. The pad thai had a good balance of sweet, salty, and savory. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice! The mango wasn't particularly ripe, but the coconut milk provided the perfect amount of sweetness. I enjoy Nong's Thai and would recommend it!

The Beef Rendang was a delightful mix of spice, herbs, coconut, and tamarind. The beef was tender and the broth was perfectly rich! The toasted coconut milkjam ice cream was an odd, crumbling, dry texture that was not enjoyable. Might be the worst dairy free ice cream I've had unfortunately. First, I really wish we had been provided ice for our water since it's served from their room temp tap water vase setup. Also, the menu is VERY hard to read and I had a lot of questions about the ingredients. I just don't feel like our server walked us through the dishes/options very well, which would've helped a ton for first timers! Also, I wanted to try the Massaman for yummy brisket, but sadly they were out of it and didn't let us know until we tried ordering this meal. I wish they were proactive about letting us know it's out. With that being said, the food itself was still very yummy overall! For apps, the Siin Swan (beef jerky) is a MUST! It was a huge portion for the price and honestly one of the best values on the menu. The Thai basil wings were also incredible and definitely worth ordering here (or at Gai Noi or Lat14 if you've never had them before), they're so flavorful and crispy! For the "shareable" dishes, we ordered the green curry octopus and scallop crudo. I'm normally terrified of octopus/tentacles, but this dish was actually super good! The potatoes, peas, and bacon alongside it were delicious. The only thing missing was the green curry sauce didn't have a ton of flavor, which could've been the wow factor that pushed the dish over the top. The scallop crudo was a beautiful presentation, but looked nothing like the photos on Khâluna'a website. It's served cold in a chilled coconut lime broth. I personally LOVE lime and enjoyed it, but everyone else at the table thought it was overpowering. Also, the portion size was shockingly tiny for a dish labeled "to share" and costing $30+. These definitely felt more apps (or even individual entrees) than table shareables. I wish they changed this! The Laksa entrée was SO yummy! The peanut/chili tasting curry broth poured tableside was such a fun touch, and I appreciated it being served separately. Perfectly cooked shrimp, tofu, and all the toppings made this dish one of my favorites of the night. The bucatini, which I believe is one of their signature dishes, was also excellent, but definitely not your classic Italian bucatini, so just know that prior to ordering! It had chili/onion crunch toppings and a very undercooked homemade noodle, but somehow still worked because it was lightly sauced yet packed with flavor. Super unique and delicious! For dessert, the pecan shortbread was amazing with a homemade chocolate mousse that was TO DIE FOR! Don't skip this! Overall, really good eats, beautiful atmosphere, and creative dishes, but definitely a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to portion size and value for the price. I'm curious how their brunch is next!

The flavors here are wildly different. I've been here before with friends and they've ordered the curry, but the curry looked too watery and that kind of should've told me that it wasn't going to be a hit of a Thai place for me. I like closer to a thicker sauce for coconut curry. Usually the Thai places that have more watery coconut curry sauces just hits a little lower & it def shows. Amazing Thai has this same issue lol. Now, this place too... I feel lost without a fav Thai place in Minne lol. The string beans were crunchy in the papaya salad which was great but the entire sauce tasted like MSG & lacks the Lao shrimp paste flavor although it was more grey since I did order the Lao style but not enough shrimp paste flavor as it should have.
