Highly recommend the fresh spring rolls, chicken satay and cabbage salad! Have been eating at Soba for many years, the quality never wavers.

The burger meat was cooked and seasoned just right and the sauce on the burger....the chefs kiss! This burger is a standout in a land of mediocre small burgers. Fries were also very good and the fry sauce was delicious!! We are fans and will be back. Don't be discouraged by the lines- they are a well oiled machine and even though the food is cooked to order, they are pretty efficient and get the food out quick.

Food: The burger was good, but not great. The bun did its job well and didn't fall apart. The burger was thicker than a smash burger, but less than a quarter pounder. The beef was simply bland. It had either too little or no discernible seasoning to bring out the flavor of the meat. The cheese was nice and melty. The burger sauce was good. Honestly, we both decided we preferred a Sonic cheeseburger. (Sorry). The fries were simple, crinkle cut frozen potatoes. They also lacked flavor. We ate a few each and the rest went in the bin. Service: There was no line, so our order was promptly taken and the food came out quickly. Friendly service at the window. Ambience: it's a food truck. They have a pop-up canopy and a picnic table which we shared with other customers. Nice conversation, friendly people. Although I mentioned Sonic, it's clearly not the "best" burger in Olympia, but it is consistent. I like smash burgers and we have good options, but I'm still looking for a place that makes a thick, juicy, flavorful burger in Oly. So far, the best burger I've had is in Tacoma at Burger Seoul. The beef mixture includes brisket and is always full of flavor.

Located inside Millersylvania Park, this location is as the name suggests, right on the lake. The…read moresnack bar has nachos, hot dogs, and ice cream (just order one scoop because two is a real challenge for one person to finish). Honestly the food isn't great and the nachos are just gross, but if you're hungry, it's there. If you want to rent a kayak, row, boat, or peddle boat, go to the snack bar to fill out the paperwork and pay and the guy at the trailer will help load your party onto the boat. There are picnic tables between the snack bar and the lake, but if you're going on a busy weekend in the summer, you're better off bringing your own table and chairs.

This concession stand is seasonal and I am glad I was able to stop by this summer to check them out. They also have pedal boats, kayaks, canoes and more for rent although I didn't partake I saw a lot of others renting from them. I ordered a double scoop of mint chip and single scoops of strawberry and vanilla with one in a waffle cone. Customer service was great and the prices are fair considering the scoops are massive compared to other ice cream shops I've frequented. They also offer a 10% military discount. Overall: amazing little stand that is worth checking out if you ever find yourself spending time in Millersylvania State Park.

Asahi Sushi is such a gem in Olympia and honestly gives me hope that there really is good sushi…read morearound here! I've been twice now: once on a date with my husband and another time for a family outing, and both experiences have been fantastic. The prices are fair. I wouldn't call it cheap, but it's definitely not outrageously expensive either, especially for the quality. We usually spend around $100 for two orders of takoyaki and three sushi rolls. I came for the sushi, but apparently I'm staying for the takoyaki and the fantastic service. Seriously, the takoyaki here might be the best I've ever had. They're served at just the right temperature, crispy on the outside, savory, and actually have a good amount of octopus in each ball. My husband agrees, which is why we always end up ordering TWO orders. We can't help ourselves. The sushi itself is delicious and really well balanced. I don't feel like the rolls are overloaded with rice, and every roll we've tried has had a good balance between the fish, sauces, and other ingredients. Nothing feels like it's drowning out everything else. Both times we've visited, the service has also been wonderful. The servers are attentive and friendly, and good service is one of the reasons I enjoy coming back. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, especially around the entrance where you're practically passing right by the chefs. But I actually like the lowkey, humble atmosphere. During the day, it's fairly dim inside with just a sliver of sunlight peeking through, and the neutral tones make it feel cozy without trying too hard to be fancy. My only gripe has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: PARKING. Downtown Olympia parking is such a pain in the neck. You might find yourself circling a few blocks looking for street parking, but Asahi is one of those places where I'll deal with it because the food and service are worth the trip. I've been to plenty of sushi places in California, so after moving to Washington a few months ago, I've been hoping to find a sushi spot here that could compare and that I would actually want to return to. Asahi is definitely that place. It's officially my go-to sushi spot in the area whenever I can afford to treat myself, because if I'm coming here, I'm budgeting enough to try and tip the servers well too. I'll happily keep coming back for my two orders of takoyaki and sushi fix. :)
