Noro free pattern. This will be my Seattle project-- purchased and knitted while in Seattle; finishing work at LYS by my yarn shop bestie!

What a lovely place in such an unexpected location. I got to hide away from the crowds for a few hours-- yarn has a way of distracting me. The ladies were lovely and the yarn choice was exclusive. I have four more project to complete that will be my Seattle memoirs. Update-- I finished my first Noro one skein project and I'm in move. Can't wait to make another one.

This is "Knitter's Husband" review!! This is just the most awesome yarn shop... hands down. I'm a "knitter's husband" so all the knitter's will know what that means.... I get dragged into just about any and every knitting store that my wonderful wife can find. Some are really a PITA for me - tiny, claustrophobic, weird choices of yarn and not pleasant for her, no place for me - a "non-knitter" to sit and just chill to give her lots of time to browse. "So Much Yarn" in this regard is "So Much Win"!! To start off, it's in Pike Place Market on 1st and Pike - CRAZY cool place to be in Seattle even for us, being locals (Port Orchard). The place is pretty huge as yarn stores go, and arranged/merchandised in a most beautiful way even for a non-knitter like me. Beautiful view of the pouring rain outside the windows to the West, over the market. There are two very comfy chairs right by the front doors - us "non-knitter companions" can sit, and happily surf the web or read or whatever - with the door to the market right there if you want to step out while the "knitter surfs the yarn" But best of all were the staff - Anne really wanted a project kit she found, and picked out some yarns... but the sales rep (GREAT person but we didn't get her name - works 2 days a week in her retirement) was absolutely AWESOME!!!! She worked in great detail with Anne to go over the project - and helped her choose a better combination of yarns - something in all my years in yarn shops I've never seen. She was AMAZING. We went from "well honey, I'm ready to go and I resisted the urge" to me saying "but wait! show me what you were looking at!". That's when we went back and the sales person really went deep into the pattern, the method, the required needles and skills - it was just awesome. We ended up leaving with about $96 in new yarn, a pattern, and a new set of #8 32" needles for Anne to build the kit. It was a win-win for me - my wife was happy, the sales person was happy, and I was happy. Truly one of the best yarn stores (of a great many) I've been to in a long time. HIGHLY recommended.... and look at me - I don't even know how to knit!!! Dave

Over charged for what I bought.

I used to love coming into this store when I lived in Washington, even thou I was never greeted nicely. We've moved out of Washington, but now when we visit I still enjoyed visiting this store until this last time. I was wring you incorrectly and over charged. I don't know if it was because I put my stuff down and told my husband to pay and he was not aware of the items I was getting or price. The lady at the register even made a comment saying yarn isn't cheap anymore. Well since our travel and the holidays I finally brought out the bag to start my project and found the receipt. Such a disappointment to see this over priced purchase. Not shopping here again!!!

Great selection, patterns and staff. The location is right near the Market so you can get anything else while out for your yarn.

And I supported it wholeheartedly despite sometimes finding items slightly cheaper elsewhere. Additionally, as an art educator I always suggested it to my students for their value, as well as excellent and knowledgeable customer service. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed to say both superb customer service and cost value are gone. Firstly, I learned from my students that student discount was no longer available. Then after my last visit, I was stunned how much the prices have increased. Still, I remained a dedicated patron. After coming home I realized one of the expensive wooden panels had a substantial gouge in the corner - simply too noticeable to try fixing. I confidently returned to the store but was told they would not take back the damaged items - because they couldn't verify it was damaged before my purchase. The associate was unbearably rude and dismissive. One my way out I expressed my profound disappointment with the current direction of this trusted business with another associate, only to have the associate I originally spoke with catch up with us. Now they changed their song, saying they could accept the damage item but I was very lucky because it's not something they always do. What?! The associate appeared to be making up policies as they went along. In the end I kept the damaged wooden panel, as I will keeping my business away from this place.

This unique, engaging, and enjoyable event was hosted by Jennifer, Yelp Eastside CM from Issaquah. Our VYEE instructor was Kellie, the enthusiastic and passionate owner of The Works in Seattle (2/11/21). I signed up thinking ahead for something fun to look forward to. After my recent past two weeks, this event was so welcomed! I'm always curious how artists and craftspeople create unique items and are able to establish a vibrant indie business too. I've taken other similar classes that allows for creativity and a timeout from the day-to-day. The vibe that Jennifer and Kellie created during this hour session, and seeing others with their custom, handmade bath bombs...this was a much needed and appreciated this evening. I ordered my kit on 2/8/21 intended to pick it up in person. And of course, life interfered. But the folks at The Works worked their magic, kindly got it in the mail, and I received it day of the event. Lovely packaging. Makes a great gift! Techniques are freely shared and allowed for further creativity with additional tips from Kellie and other Yelp Elites participating. I listened intently, took copious notes, and took screenshots. Inside the Bath Bombs Kit are all the items needed, including an instruction booklet, and video link to watch later for reference. Other items needed and not included are a mixing bowl, fork, 1 Tablespoon measuring spoon, and up to 3T water. After giving this process a whirl, (makes about 4 bath bombs from the kit) the choices and combos one can continue to create are infinite! Add in some creativity, you'll learn a really top notch skill, promote self care, and can give as gifts. Art meets science! Gifts guaranteed to be well received, not become a regifted white elephant, and you don't have to dust it, lol. Supporting The Works is also beneficial to showcasing their business and the artisans they also partner with. The Works Seattle 151 12th Avenue, Seattle WA 98122 theworksseattle.com

They have a great cat/dog toy section! The store features art and goods from local artists and there's so much cute stuff. I can easily spend 15-20 minutes perusing all the goods. I found the employees to be lovely whenever I visited. They sometimes would tell me about an artist if I'm looking at their wares and I love hearing more detail about things but I never felt pressure to buy anything.  Also they sell anything under the sun here from jewelry to vases to clothes to things for kids and babies. Great variety. I found a random darling egg sticker for my friend who loves eggs and my friend found these cool mushroom magnets for her sister who loves mushrooms. See, this store is amazing!  Pacific Place is a shell of its former self. A lot of the stores have closed and it seems like most people who do come here are coming to eat at Din Tai Fung or HaiDiLao but if you're in this mall make sure to stop by the 3rd floor and check it out! Highly recommend it! There's something for everyone. Also can be a fun way to while away some time if you're waiting for your seat in the above restaurants.  Also I just learned they have a website  https://thehandmadeshowroom.com/ so apparently I don't have to be in Seattle to shop their goods!
