They share space with The Lemon Tree in part of the second room to the store. The store is in the Renaissance Plaza Center near the Renaissance Centre and bowling alley. Since there is a sidewalk, you can walk from one place to the other easily. There is generally plenty of free parking in the parking lot unless an event is happening. When you enter, there is a ramp inside the store to take you smoothly down into the main book displays. The children's section is in the front section. Other genres are clearly labeled throughout the store. Don't miss the second half of the store in the other room. The bookstore is locally owned and has a large, knowledgeable staff, so you will always find someone friendly and willing to help you navigate the shelves. Personally, I love that the store features banned books, as I always want to read what they don't want me to read! I like the staff picks too and reading their thoughts on a book. I appreciate that local authors are highlighted here. On my last visit, I was thrilled to score a signed copy of a local author's book that is only sold at Page 158 Books. I also got another book not normally in my genre for a more fun read. Page 158 Books has book clubs, author signings, and other events. Back when they were on White Street, they had coloring nights and brought the community together and introduced me to the store. It is a great local bookstore!

They were also honest when I asked about a book they didn't have in stock. She said they could order it but she couldn't guarantee that it would be in when I needed it but. I didn't end up ordering the book bc it's being given as a gift. But our group (me, 2 teens and a preteen) left with 5 books, a pin and a patch. I also got a reward off my next purchase! Flyleaf also has a number of events every month. I recently attended the Penguin Publisher event. Snacks and drinks were available to those that attended the event and there was a raffle at the end. The event was informative and full of book recs from the Penguin Publisher sales team. Flyleaf is legit! I'll be sure to add this location to one of my favorite bookstores in the Chapel Hill area.

Enter COVID-19 and I saw on Instagram that their sales were down 75% due to the pandemic. I figured now was the perfect time to finally support this local bookstore. You can place your order online and they offer free proch drop off within a certain radius. I emailed in to the owner, Christine, asking for recommendations for my son who is obsessed with trucks and animals. She came back with a wonderful personalized list of books for him-- many of them I hadn't heard of before! She takes the time to make sure the list fits your child's interests and age. I will say that I added all of the books to my Amazon cart to see what the price difference would be. I purchased four books and the total was only $5 cheaper on Amazon. For only $5 more I was able to support a small biz in my community, receive a personalized recommendation list for my son, and get it dropped off right at my door.

When I shared that I was considering homeschooling and was hoping to look through curriculum to make decisions based on what was available to me, the store clerk pulled out a few guides as to what subjects are generally covered. She then proceeded to patiently walk me through each section and hand pick options for me to look through based on what I shared with her about my son. Additionally, anything on the new curriculum side of the store that I was interested in, she would make sure they didn't also have a copy of in the consign part of the store. If they did she brought it to me to look through as well as this would save me a considerable amount of money at times! I loved being here so much that I can't wait to go back. For anyone who is newly considering homeschool or I imagine anyone who homeschools at all, this spot is a must visit! They even have a playroom for kids, tons of Usborne books, and lots of used picture books and novels for kids as well. As a former teacher of eight years I cannot more highly recommend. Prices for used books are around the Half Price Books level ($5-10 usually), and they stock a mix of recent releases and modern classics, with some literary classics mixed in. Great non-fiction selection as well, well labeled and easy to navigate. They have a new books section along one wall as well, which seemed up to date with what has been released throughout the past year (with award-winning books or staff favorites noted!). At the time I was visiting, buying one of the new books resulted in 10% off your entire order (nice!). All books are in good condition, and the selection feels very thoughtfully curated--there's none of the lopsided balance towards older or bestselling books which can sometimes happen in used bookstores. I assume this is because they must have developed a robust buy-back program to keep their selection up to date. There's a sister store in Durham, as well, but this one is much bigger and better stocked in my opinion :) Overall, highly recommend!
