Why does he always leave with an armful of books and I am empty handed?

I went in here for one book. My son left with an armful of books. I love that he loves reading, so I am only complaining that I didn't find my book. What I did find was a well lit space with tons of gently used books. I really can't wait to go back, alone. I might even find a corner and start my book there. Lol, this sounds like a fantasy novel as I am writing, I have no time to sit in a book store reading. I will definitely spend time browsing and hopefully find a good read.

Lovely used book store in Cary, NC. I didn't realize it was here until maybe the 10th time I drove through the plaza haha. As soon as I noticed it, of course I could not resist going inside. The shop is larger than I originally thought. It has good lighting and welcoming, helpful employees. The shelves are well stocked and neat. It is challenging to look for a particular author or title. It is best to peruse the shelves looking for an interesting next read rather than something specific. The books are organized by genre and typically books written by the same author are beside one another. I could have spent hours looking around. I easily found more than enough options I wanted to read. I decided on a few to purchase. They were all in good condition and cost about $4-5 each, reasonable to used books. Any books you no longer want, you can bring to the store and they may buy them back. There is no guarantee that they will buy back any books. Overall, I had a positive experience here and recommend this bookstore to others!

Great used book store in Cary! I was really impressed by both the selection and quality of the books. I found several nice copies of newer, popular titles to take home. They have a shelf of new hauls right when you walk in which definitely caught my eye, but if you peruse the aisles you will find hidden gems. I stopped in because I had a $20 gift certificate (able to get 4 books!) and I will definitely be back when I am in the area.

Great book store we've always gotten books there and donated some too. Great atmosphere and the best book store around.

Decent selection for someone like me (a 33year old with weird sometimes classic sometimes contemporary fiction tastes).

They're unorganized and messy, but man, is it fun to find a good bargain! Yes, there's more junk than useful items. However, they do carry lots of name brand items for cheap. I don't know why I buy from retailers at full price, Ollie's is where it's at!! From Yankee Candle to Olay and everything in between, you bet your bottom dollar that you're going home with something...and if you're not, you didn't spend enough time browsing. Here are just a few things I've gotten from Ollie's: a Stephen King graphic novel of The Dark Tower for less than $4, a secret Santa gift filled with journals, crayons, colored pencils, and two drawing pads (don't forget the gift bag, tissue paper, AND a card) for less than $15, Yankee candle melts for less than $2, a Yankee candle oil diffuser for less than $4, a large bag of brand-name veggie chips for less than $2, St. Ives body wash for less than $3, a Febreze car plug in for less than $1. I can go on and on. Ollie's has discounts and it's super easy to spend at least an hour here while you bargain shop. The staff here are very nice! There were two cashiers and one floor staff and they all greeted me nicely and were very friendly. Is Ollie's a disaster? Yes. Are the floors uneven and unfinished? YUP. Are you going to save money? Absolutely. It's chaotic good, my guys!

Without looking it up (he stayed on his phone throughout this) he just smiled like it was really funny to smugly say "we usually have it but we just ran out." And that was that. He didn't offer a solution just smiled and soaked in the self-pleasure of his snide answer. There was a painful pause as he waited for my reaction, wanting to relish in it, presumably, but I just said "ok then..?" And shrugged. And clearly disappointed I didn't leave right there he sighed and said "we could order one. Want to do that?" But he didn't offer any info about how much it would be, when it would be in, nothing. I had to pry that info from him. So forget it.

Sharing a space with an architectural firm, what you see when you first walk in, is what you get. There's not aisles and aisles of books, but that's what makes it easy to spend some time looking. The children and young adult section is a decent size, surprisingly, so it will give the kids something to do while you spend time looking. Mostly current authors, and a fair mix of biographical, non-fiction and informational, So & So does its job -- offering something different when time and boredom with the common stuff can make book shopping a chore. None of that is an issue here.

The store is massive and carries used books of every genre, as well as gently-loved puzzles, Funko characters, Squishmallows, toys, vinyl, movies, board games, CDs, video games, etc. It's a really fun place to browse and it has something for just about everyone. The store is organized pretty well considering how much inventory they have. My only complaint as a buyer is that most items are overpriced. For example, a used paperback copy of TJ Klune's House in Cerulean Sea is $17 and a lovely used puzzle I was looking at buying was $15. I would rather support McKay's than big-box stores or Amazon, but in this economy it is also hard to justify spending $5 - $10 more for a used version than I would a new one elsewhere. That being said, every now and then, I find a really good deal at McKay's. I purchased a paperback copy of Less by Andrew Sean Greer for 25 cents, which made my day. Selling books here can be slightly disheartening. I recently took in a stack of 18 books, including a popular hardcover which was being sold in the store for $17 at the time, and I only received $13 in store credit for the entire stack. I am not sure how this compares with other stores that buy used books, but in the future I will probably only sell items that I would have donated anyway so that any store credit, no matter how little, feels like a little bonus.
