A solid 2 1/2 so I'll round up to 3. The third star is for the view from the patio. Two stars for the food and service. There were a number of open tables when we arrived, yet it still took dinner almost an hour to arrive at the table. My husband and I shared fish and chips. I would not order this again. It tasted like fish with flour coating and was so overdone that the edges were quite chewy. The fries were good, and the coleslaw was just like you find in a tub in the grocery store. Service was beyond slow, and it didn't appear to be due to staff shortages. On the bright side, it was nice sitting on the patio with a view of the bustling street on one side, and the lake on the other, so that brought the stars up to three. I could go on about what I didn't like, but why? :) I hope that your experience is 5 stars and my experience wasn't the norm. read more

What an amazing surprise tonight's dinner was! The new menu is so delightful and complex but comfortable and delicious. We had so many fantastic things - for apps: Prosciutto Crostini, Baked Brie and Mussels. The sauce with the mussels was so good just to dip bread in! I had the filet and I have to tell you the char crust is beyond good. Every bite was so delicious, and I had to slow down and dip my bite in the béarnaise sauce to enjoy the amazing taste. The Caesar dressing is great. Oh and try the risotto- it's soooo good! Topped off with crème brûlée it was such a great meal. We really enjoyed the ambience and Shelby, our server was attentive, informative and fun. Get out of the house and get to Snug. You will be happily surprised at the change. read more

I was excited to visit Snug Harbor after being away from GH for 27 years. So trying to keep my memory v. current experience at bay was hard. Of course a remodel was done and I was not impressed. Felt empty and cold. I came with some friends to have drinks after dinner at another old establishment that was underwhelming also. But back to Snug, as we sat at the bar to have some cocktails and watch football. Low choices of Bourbon, only two, Woodford and Knob. Bar was messy and had clutter on floor. Bartender did not appear to knowledgeable and this goes past trying or wanting to learn. With the appearance of the redesigned Lower level I would expect craft cube cocktails. Food - Caesar salad had no dressing. We asked for a side of salad dressing. When the wait staff brought a container, it was plain mayonnaise. The bread flight was not crusty, but sweet bread. The wait staff was great and removed the salad from the bill. However, the burger was dry and the onions were not grilled as requested. This is the first week of the new menu- very disappointing. The bar has a very weak pour - stick to cans/bottles. Definitely a place that relies on its view to carry it through. If it was inland it wouldn't make it. read more

Some of these reviews I just don't get. first time here sunday night in September. Service from greeting till left was Excellent. Roast beef was nice sandwhich and wanted light so took half home for lunch tomorrow. Wife had Thai salad that was excellent. view was as described. Beautiful on closed in protective deck. Couldn't be happier. It's not a fine dinning chop house or American Grille and beer house. It's a really nice place for a meal with happy friendly people. Highly recommend it. note parking not easy so plan to arrive a bit early but a nice free lot about 1 block west on opposite side of street worked fine. read more

So I've never been out here. She's been coming here all her life and we figured we'd take a day trip even though it would be after season and all. First stop. . .lunch at Snug Harbor. A cool little place right on the canal, outdoor dining patio and the weather was ok. I know it was lunch but we were here and what the heck. . .let's have a cocktail! She had a Cranberry Lemonade Mule, and I had a Snug Harbor Old Fashioned. She loved the Mule, while I wasn't too impressed with my old fashioned. I like a classic old fashioned and this was their take I guess. I didn't see smashed up lemons, oranges and the cherries mashed up in the bottom of the glass coming. For lunch she had the perch sandwich which she liked immensely! I had the basic chicken wrap which was good, but a bit drippy due to a bit much of the honey mustard, but it was tasty. The black bean burger was decent, so giving 2 stars for that. I was extremely dissapointed when the "home made chips" that came with my meal were just served out of the bag. When I am eating somewhere with $30 dinner entrees and the menu says served with home made chips, I don't want the chips just thrown on the table in a bag. I also ordered a cranberry lemonade mule and it was the tiniest mule I have ever been served. It was not worth the cost at all. I was embarrassed to have brought someone with me who hadn't ever dined there. I will not be returning. The upstairs bathroom was also one of the most disgusting and dirty public restrooms I have seen. read more

We had a nice lunch here yesterday outside over looking the water. Despite one of my kids getting pooped on. By a bird! Everyone enjoyed what they got. One reason I took a star off was even though we really liked our waiter he did something weird. My husband ordered a beer and they were all out and he brought out a similar flavor without telling him. Two problems my husband wanted a beer this was a hard cider and my husband wanted something from Michigan and the cider was from Lodi, California (a town not to far from where we live!). I wanted to love this place after hearing from locals about it. The outside dining experience was mixed, as was the meal. The seafood fettuccine Alfredo sauce was a bit bland and watery. The salmon was very good. The server was super professional and attentive. Clearly the water views make this place but the outside furniture is uncomfortable and dirty/dusty. Maybe it would be worth investing in an overhaul of the outside eating area. All in all, it was average/good but not memorable for me. read more

Much improved since our last visit , we visited Sunday afternoon with boating friends. We had a party of 9 and didn't wait long for an outdoor table . Our server was prompt with cocktails and water. We enjoyed the salmon dip , and because some of us our low carb fanatics we were able to add veggies along side the crackers. The grilled salmon on the Caesar was grilled perfectly though the salad could use more shaved Parmesan and a bit more dressing. The lettuce wraps and black bean cakes were a hit. We will visit again Last night we made our first visit of 2020 and were very pleased. The menu is limited but we had no wait for a table of 8. Drinks were excellent especially the Bloody Mary. The mushroom appetizer disappeared within seconds as well as the sushi rolls. Raves for the perch , burrito, and the jerk chicken bowl. It was the perfect cap to a great summer boating day. This was our first visit to Snug Harbor which happened to be during Coast Guard Festival. Much to our surprise we were seated quickly with having a larger group. We ordered drinks and appetizers and our drinks came out but 30 mins after our drinks came our waitress finally came back to take our orders. An hour after we ordered the appetizers and 2x asking where they were our waitress said they were delivered to the wrong side of the restaurant. 1 1/2 hours after we ordered our food the entrees came our and then 2 of the 3 appetizers came out after the food. The appetizer we didn't get was chips and salsa! The food was good but very overpriced. The manager did comp our drinks and appetizers but the waitress was snarky and unfortunately will not return after this experience. read more
