Good: ambience, service, breadth of menu. Wife liked lobster ravioli. Iffy: my entree wasn't very good (tournedos), lump of lobster in bisque was cold, fairly noisy (hard floor and ceiling), fairly pricey. Our waitress was doubling as bartender but managed it well. read more

We celebrated out 45th wedding anniversary tonight. Everything was fantastic! Server Ashley was phenomenal! My only complaint was the ceaser salad was subpar. I also thought they would have brought out a small dessert to share for the occasion. I will be back the dinner was amazing. We had calamari for an appetizer, I had the ribeye and my husband had the white fish. A side note to the bartender her drinks were amazing read more

I wrote a review in 2024 indicating the food was great but the service wasn't up to par and related an incident where a server touched my wife inappropriately. Apparently, Arboreal Inn can't take criticism because I have now been blocked from their website. read more

Disappointed with service and quality/size of cocktails on our recent visit. Gentleman seating us would not give us a table near wall/window as "they are taken". Wife has a cane it is very helpful to have a wall to set the cane against. Our server did nit provide good attention. Slow to take drink orders. Hen she brought drinks (finally) I asked her if she would take my HUGE menu. She walked away and did not take the clumsy thing. She did not remove cocktail glasses or appetizer dishes when we were done. They were-in the way when our entrees arrived. When done eating our dishes remained and were not removed -remained on table until we left. We had coffee, etc after dinner and these plates, etc should have been removed. We usually come to. Arboreal a couple times each year (45 mile drive from Holland) For $180 including tip - for 2 people - expect better! The food was good but not exceptional. The Manhattan cocktail were served in the smallest glasses we have ever seen! DISAPPOINTED ! read more

Excellent restaurant impeccable service food is excellent. Pretty well appointed interior with huge fireplace.

The service was wonderful. We called ahead to inquire about a wait at it was a Friday, he suggested a time, but could not place us on the list (call ahead). We took his advice and walked in and were seated immediately. Immediately, I was given quaint, New England vibes. There's a charming fireplace, low warm lighting, linen tablecloths, gold chandeliers, and no TVs in sight. The staff was knowledgeable, efficient, and prepared (both host and server). The food was incredible. We ordered the tenderloin steak tips medium rare and were so impressed. The soups were both delicious, and the main courses perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, except that I walked in without knowing the vibe to dress appropriately (I wore nice jeans, a sparkly blouse and a faux leather jacket, not terrible, but not the right fit). There were many elderly dressed in a slacks and nice sweater vibe (we visited in October). It definitely gave charming New England, cozy, comfortable, and old money (which is enjoyable if you're prepared). read more

We had a lovely dinner here! I emailed days ahead because we have dietary concerns (plant-based for health issues/allergies) and Chef Jason was in touch with me immediately. He offered delicious solutions and even checked back the day of our reservation in order to alert our server. Going above and beyond anything we may have anticipated, we were presented with a small personalized menu! Everything prepared for us was exceptional. Bruschetta stuffed portobellos topped with plant-based cheese and drizzled with Balsamic vinegar and a marvelous pesto tossed penne with vegetables. Service was top notch and the elegant, cozy atmosphere created a wonderful memory. Thank you Chef Jason and Michelle. read more

Hands down the best QUALITY food in Muskegon/west michigan. Don't care what anyone says as after the 50 times I have been there I have never had a bad meal. There just isn't anyone else to compare them to. The chef I believe is Jason and based on what I know is very very picky on what and how each and every dish is served. You can't come out of here and say it's not a great place to go!!! Sincerely Brian read more

Absolutely one of our favorites. The menu choices make it hard to select because everything is delicious. Whether you're looking for a fine meal in the dining room or a simpler night out in the bar area, you can't go wrong. Service is always top notch. read more

We eat at The Arboreal two or three times a month. I have never had a bad meal. Their waitstaff is excellent. The decor is understated elegance. In the winter the restaurant looks lovely snuggled in woodsy snow. The small plate dinners on Monday through Thursday are just the right amount for those with smaller appetites. Each of those meals come with a glass of wine. All for under $30. Great Place for a special dinner read more

I just could not help myself without giving my review of last night dinner at Arboreal Inn. It is a special place, which seems to be lacking in the Muskegon area. We ordered the Surf and Turf, which was served to perfection. Loved it. All the servers are very professional and nice. Just a very intimate great place to dine without all that noise you hear at other establishments. read more

We have eaten several times in the past two months at the Arboreal. The servers have usually been pleasant. The menu provides several tasty dishes. But the menu is very limited for dairy sensitive persons, For example all of the potato choices are heavy on dairy. When we asked for a plain potato without dairy, the server became grumpy and said no. When I commented to the host when I left, about providing dairy free options, he was rude, as though this was an unreasonable request. There was no discussion of possible options, so I guess I will not return. read more

Service was superb. The owner was over multiple times chatting and making sure everything was good. Dinner was excellent. There was a great wine list. Overall the experience was excellent! read more

This place has it together in so many ways. But what tops everything else off is the quality of food preparation. In New Orleans, where my wife and I lived for 30 years, sauces can make or break a success and these are always simple and consistent. And, a menu that does not overpromise is also welcome for being a long-term favorite. We enjoyed the drinks and the service, and the considerate ambience for this market. Our favorite. read more

Fantastic place. If you are looking for amazing decor, look somewhere else. If you are looking for amazing food, this is your spot. We got NY Strip, Surf and Turf and Ribeye. Everything was amazing. The filet that was in the surf and turf was ordered rare and was perfectly cooked. The NY Strip was ordered medium and cooked properly. Both steaks had great flavor. The lobster tail was cooked to perfection, overcooking the tail can be an issue, but not here. The ribeye was cooked medium rare and probably had the best flavor. Do NOT pass go on the bruschetta, it is fantastic. The calamari was a little overcooked, but still good. Our server was very attentive to our wants and never missed our water glasses. You will not be disappointed. read more

Had our 30th Anniversary here today (September 16, 2023). First time ever to this place. It is, without any doubt, fine dinning and relaxing. It was fantastic. Saturday reservation was easy to get only 2 days in advance. Michelle, our server, was excellent and helpful with local area tips and menu suggestions. Wife had the two lobster tails, I had the scalops from feature menu. They were both excellent. I'm only sorry I had no room for desert as that menu looked good indeed. Service, food, and ambiance were excellent yet resonable pricing. Even though very busy the restaurant has excellent acoustics and it was very easy to talk and hear my wife. Had a great discussion with the owner on the history and his vision. We will be back our next trip. Thank you Arboreal Inn owners and staff. You made this anniversary special for us. My wife named it "an Amazing Restaurant in the woods!" read more

What a nice find and it's close to our home! The food is excellent! We have been there several times and have never been disappointed! Yummy desserts also! Delicious food, fair prices, beautiful dining area. Service is always 100%. I highly recommend the Aboreal Inn!

Bland, cheap tasting food. Not "fine dining" at all. Overcharging guests for a fake fine dining experience.

Superior food and quaint interior. We have gone here many times with the previous owners. The new owners have kept the good ! Bruschetta was amazing. All the dinners we ordered were great. The salads are generous , brown bread yummy and the cream puff dessert was spot on. Leave room !! read more

I've had wonderful meals at this place in "the good old days," but my most recent encounter was unsatisfactory. As a bad start, my bread plate was visibly dirty. I'm not sure how a server wouldn't notice that when setting the table, but it was a real turn off. I ordered a Cesar salad to start. It was not authentic. It had tomatoes, and cucumber. For my entre, I had the chicken picatta. I was rubbery and the sauce had soaked into the breading and created a plate of chicken-in-mud. The sauce was dark (almost like they made a mistake and served a Marsalla) and, the taste was awful! Yuck! Nice atmosphere and a pretty place, though. I hope this visit was just a fluke. read more

We were seated in the bar area for our dinner and listened to martinis being shaken all night, traffic going back and forth to the dining room from the servers, loud cooks in the kitchen and lots of chatter from the hostess stand. Don was the manager on duty and we spoke to him about the situation. He could have cared less. Didn't offer to do anything for us. Also our food was hot but all under seasoned. I'd go to Finn's or Hearthstone next time. read more

Beautiful place. Got right in on Sat night with short notice. Seated promptly, nice table. Service went downhill from there. Served kept disappearing, between taking drink order & food order, between taking food order & bringing bread, 15 minutes for 3 bowls of lobster bisque. We were starving after a long busy day and a long drive home ahead. It took 1.5 hours for soup and two appetizers. It was ridiculous. Lobster bisque was good, interesting; seemed to have chervil in it. I asked but of course she didn't know and even though I asked her to find out, she didn't. Crab-stuffed mushrooms were merely ok. Mussels were good. The bread rolls were actually the best part of the meal. Server was pleasant but just incredibly inefficient. I guess if we were a couple on a leisurely, romantic date with nothing else to do, we wouldn't have minded but as if was , it was horrible and frustrating, and embarrassing for me after talking my friends into going based on all the great reviews. Disappointing. read more
