When people ask me what my favorite sushi restaurant is in town, I always name Asaka as my designated place. The five nigiri sushi I got from them tonight were all fresh. From my favorite, Kurodai to Aburi Salmon to Hotate to Kampachi to Bincho, had this place been a fancy restaurant they might get considered for a Michelin star dining spot. But some restaurants want to stay humble as they want to stay away from the spotlight so I get it. In a way, this is my neighborhood sushi restaurant that I can count on. I don't want them to be more than what they are now to be frank. Good and efficient service. They always treat me well with respect and regard. Small and yet clean tidy ambience is always appreciated. I always do takeouts; I don't think I have never dined here to be frank. So my aim is to do a nice sit down dinner with my family or friends soon.

I always order them with Ramen in Kansas City but these knocked any of those out of the park. For Ramen, I went with a classic tonkatsu. The menu description said that it came with corn and bok choy, but I was missing both of those items. The Ramen itself was really good. The broth was super rich and they gave you a lot. We started with the Spicy Crispy Tuna - which is always fantastic. We ordered Yellowtail, Unagi, and Tako sashimi. For the rolls, Spicy Scallop Roll. Mango Roll, and our favorite - the Joker Roll. This is the only restaurant around locally that we can find that has shiso - an herb that we enjoy but seems harder to find unfortunately.
