Snowdaes, the first place I was able to try some "shaved snow" and I was not disappointed by the outcome! This place is conveniently located in a complex that also has some restaurants such as a BonChon next to it, so this is a great place to go for dessert! The shaved snow as the texture of shaved ice, but has more of a taste and feeling of ice cream when you eat it. They have a nice variety of flavors and combinations of flavors "specialty snow" here. I got the strawberry cheesecake specialty snow which was great, it had some fresh strawberries on it and graham cracker. I also was able to try their original flavor which was good as well. The idea of going here for dessert is great, since it has many other options that I would like to try when I am in the area, from bubble tea, waffles, Hawaiian and Asian ices, and shakes. The egg puffs look interesting and heard good things about them too. A cool plus is that the interior looks simple, yet nice. This goes with the idea of just coming here, have a dessert, and hang out with friends especially since they have a small choice of board games here to play with as well. I noticed Snowdaes in the New Business section of the Yelp site a number of weeks ago, so when I found myself in Lowell, I just had to make my way there! Located in a strip mall - one with newcomer Bon Chon marked most prominently on the list of shops - Snowdaes resides in a front corner as a bright and spacious shop with windows on two sides, a good number of seating options, individual bathrooms available for patrons, and toppings well labeled and within easy eyesight of their customers. Small $3.50 - 1 snow flavor, 1 topping included Medium $5.50 - 2 snow flavors, 1 topping included Large $7.25 - I don't know how many snow flavors, 2 toppings included Pick a drizzle, even though it costs an additional 25 cents - it settles the shaved ice so that it is more creamy and less flakey-flyaway! Your choices are condensed milk, nutella, chocolate, white chocolate, caramel. I recommend the condensed milk, even though it caused my snow to settle, as it is relatively neutral and it made the concoction all the more creamy. If shaved snow is not your thing, they also offer Hawaiian Shaved Ice $2, Bubble Tea $3.50 and a variety of other more run of the mill drink selections. I love this little shop. I used to live in Boston and had to go to Chinatown to get egg puffs ice cream, shaved snow or good boba tea. But they have all 3 here. I actually like the egg puffs ice cream here better. And they have good specials as well on their fb. The serving is huge so the price is reasonable. I have no problem with the staff's service at all. Place is nice, clean and kid friendly. I had the short's special and passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly. They were both very delicious. This place is adorable, the workers are super nice and the dessert is delicious. I created my own from the menu, original with green tea shaved ice, toppings I put strawberry , bananas, condense milk and whip cream. It was great! :) ^- we went to eat then came here for dessert, this choice was definitely not too heavy shared between 3 friends. The taro hot milk tea was delicious and very filling. The shaved ice cream had a firm texture like hard ice cream and I expected a smooth texture like a firm soft serve. The condensed milk topping made it creamier. The green tea is matcha. The green tea shaved snow had great flavor. The Thai tea is a tea with a Jasmine hint. I would give 4 stars for the puffle, Shorty's Special, only. Was not impressed by their bubble tea or customer service; they didn't even have the flavor of tea I ordered and didn't figure it out until I had been waiting 20 minutes. My partner got the Thai Dye and thought it was okay. Different for sure. Doesn't compare to the specialty puffle though. If you're going, would highly recommend you get one of those. read more

This is probably the best place to get bubble tea and ice cream desserts in Lowell. The texture of their egg puffs is really great, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The L Tea is my favorite drink, I always order it when I don't feel like being adventurous. Their shaved ice is literally like snow, it just melts in your mouth. Before the owners make the egg puff and they were soft in the inside and crunchy in the outside now they no longer work and hired new employees the egg puff are not how they use to be. Chocolate egg puffs were my favorite but now the chocolate are so powdery and soft all around does not even compare how they were once were. I'm a fan of this novelty dessert shop. There's a large selection of desserts and drinks. My go to items are the Asian ice and pandan waffle with cream cheese shaved ice. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The games are great to keep you entertained while waiting for your treats. When I have out of town friends and family, I bring them to this establishment as a special treat. I absolutely love this place! Snowdaes is primarily known for its shaved snow dessert. It is a perfect combination of ice cream and Hawaiian shaved ice. You can choose from over 10 different snow flavors such as Thai tea and honey dew. The store pretty much has all the toppings you can think of! I usually get a medium matcha snow flavor with a drizzle of condensed milk and fresh strawberries and it would only cost me about 7 dollars! The pandan coconut speciality puff is a must get. It is made up of pandan egg puffs, coconut ice cream/flakes, almonds, and condensed milk. It is truly a treat and would brighten up anyone's day! The workers are nice and the place is very clean with plenty of board games. There is even a big parking lot so parking is never an issue. Shaved snow is more like taking a block of frozen ice cream and cutting it into ribbons of uniform thickness - it's like taking already fluffy ice cream, and making it fluffier. With a laid-back atmosphere (and free wifi!), you could visit any time and take a brief "vacation". The staff is pretty helpful, and you can sample flavors before you choose them (though the sampling process seems like a lot of work for the employees). This is my first Boba place on the East Coast. All my previous experience is in the SF Bay area, where there are hundreds of really good 5-star places. I have really been spoiled in the past which may partially explain the 3 stars. I think Snowdaes is probably fine compared to the New England Boba scene. I will need to go to a few more places to confirm. They were out of regular Boba, which is not good for a boba place. The tea flavor in the tea seemed weaker and sweeter then what I am used to. The puffs are made to order and come in a little semi-small lunch bag-which goes for a little over $3. These puffs are delicious. Saves a trip of having to drive into Boston Chinatown for it. Snowdaes is located in the same newly constructed plaza as Kumon and Bonchon (BLECH! Don't go to this satellite location!! If you HAVE TO HAVE Bon Chon, go to Allston!!). So there's plenty of free parking with actual spots that you don't have to fight people for (which seems to be a problem in this city). H and I stopped in with my best friend, A, after she prodded and intrigued us with the "best cold dessert" in Lowell. Well, with that kind of invite, how can someone say no? It wasn't a far drive from the Highlands- even in traffic, it took us less than 15 minutes to get there. It's actually a very nice inside... much nicer than I anticipated. The interior was well-kept, clean and nicely decorated. The toppings were well stocked and looked fresh (well, as fresh as fruit can be for New England weather, and as fresh as packaged mochi, cereal, etc can be ;) )! An added bonus was that the girls behind the counter were extremely patient and willing to explain the gist of ordering. A knew exactly what she wanted- a "pandan" of sorts... I was nervous and just ordered the same variation as her's... but of the chocolate variety. H ordered shaved ice. I have to say that each of our treats were highly satisfying and indulgent.
