THE WORSE EQUIPMENT!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS STORE. They provide OLD LEAKY equipments . When we were renting in the store, a person came to exchange the goggles SECOND TIME, due to some part is broken. So I double check when I get the goggles, make sure everything is working. However, the first time we snorkel, water keeping leaking into the goggles, no matter how tight I seal. Same as my friends goggles, all of them are old and have problems. It force us to stop snorkeling after 15mins. Since then, we never use the equipment anymore. It completely ruined our snorkeling plan. They insist to charge full price despite the equipments are old and broken. AGAIN, DON'T CHOOSE THIS STORE!!! read more

I never leave reviews but this interaction was so terrible it deserves a mention. Lived on island for 10 years and came in today to rent gear for my family who are visiting. Tabatha D servicing was the most disrespectful and condescending woman. I've seen my fair share of tourists getting haole treatment but this woman takes the cake. If you hate your job and people who pay our bills so much, quit. After 30 mins of watching her be incapable of her job while sh*tting on everyone who came in, I walked out. Bad bad Mana. But they've permanently lost us as customers after this visit. In the store THREE times and walked away angry all three times. Do not recommend and would give them zero stars if possible. Snorkel Bob's is always our go-to for all our snorkeling and ocean gear. The shop is consistently super clean and well stocked, and their staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the best snorkeling and beach spots. They also actively monitor the weather and ocean conditions, which is a huge plus. The manager, Duke, at their Napili location was especially kind and helpful. They have gear and sizes for every member of the family. It's always a must-stop at the beginning of our trip to rent our gear for the week. read more

It's 11:15am and I've been trying to get into the shop for the past 5 minutes. The guy working there is inside and sees me keep trying to access and wondering why he won't open the door, but he can't be bothered to come to the door. Went back and forth 3 times, after walking over to each side of the building to see if there's another door to access (or if I'm losing my mind). Again, for the last time trying to open both of the front doors and the guy just looks at me and looks away. Worst Snorkel Bob's location, thanks to the demeanor of the lazy & inconsiderate person working there. Kindness is free, ladies & gentlemen. Not what I expect of this area or this establishment that I've visited and rented from for many years now. Ownership should take notice and take steps to correct such a lack of service & decency. read more

Red flag alert I could tell the person walking out as we walked in was angry for some reason, now I see why. Guy we talked to told us the snorkeling conditions were dangerously unsafe and it's not... he was obviously stoned too. He wasn't sure what beach we said we were going to, even after I told him it's the beach behind his business. He spoke in a disrespectful tone to my girlfriend when she asked him a question. Don't go here. Boss Frogs has better deals too. Major douche. Glad he turned us away towards a better deal. read more

Old leaky equipment. It was more expensive than competitors and first mask and snorkel leaked so went back for a new set and the second snorkel leaked the whole week. Terrible experience! By the end of the week the mask was leaking everywhere. We used them 3 years ago and the equipment was fine but now it's the same but older and more warn out and leaks often. Stay away unless you want frustration. Btw we upgraded to the "good stuff ". My husband wears a size 12 shoe but they don't have the "good" flippers in large sizes. read more

Reserved about $300 worth of gear (multiple snorkel sets, chairs, sunshades) a week before arriving .The main item was the sunshade. Showed up today, and no sunshades, and no guarantee they'd have them tomorrow. What's the point of having a reservation system? Snorkel Bobs hours are on their website. To confirm though, I called and they guy said 8 to 5 and he was short. Ok, great I thought. We showed up at 12:47pm, and there is a note on the door out to lunch for an hour till 1:45! What a huge disappointment and possible inconvenience as we were on a timetable. Luckily, we searched the next closest snorkeling place and it is Boss Frogs, Napili. Wes, the friendly associate, laughed when I asked if they close for lunch. And their prices are almost half price of Bob's. Competition is a good thing and we know where to go next time! read more

We have rented from Snorkel Bob's (this particular location) for years. Brought my in-laws to Maui for their first time ever this year and was very disappointed to see the level of customer service has gone decidedly downhill. The quality of the equipment is still solid but the tall lady working the front desk has a true knack for passive aggressive comments. Certainly not the aloha spirit you'll find elsewhere in the islands. Will not be returning in the future. read more

This place was a bit of a disaster today. Basically gave away half of our reservation and they were completely unapologetic. A half-hearted excuse and was told we could go to a place 15 minutes away. Didn't want to travel with my fins and saw bobs nonstop on the island. Decided to give it a try and was so glad I did. Took minutes to rent (I actually rented while waiting for food from the place next door and got back before my food came) and can return to any location, staff were really friendly. No complaints. Return took less than a minute. Made the trip soo much better with fins. Should have made this my first stop off the airplane. read more

Only $10/day for rental equipment. I actually don't know if that's per calendar day or 24 hour period. It didn't matter to me as I only needed it for a few hours. It's only a few minutes walk down to Napili Beach. They prefer credit cards to cover the deposit/hold for incidentals. I think they close at 5:00 PM, but if you need to return afterwards, you can put it in the box (with a code) and your return receipt. read more

The fitting wasn't perfect(they put our snokels on backwards), but overall it was a wonderful experience. The clarity and consistency of the product was well worth the cost. We always get our activities from Nick and he was amazing as always! Sweet Kealoha was really awesome too!! They were both so friendly and helpful, and really made us feel at home on Maui! We were able to get all of our gear quickly and Kealoha showed us all of the snorkeling and surfing beaches around the island on a map! Snorkel Bob's Napili wouldn't rent gear for me and my family because of the surf advisory late Friday and the number of rescues at other beaches that he heard about. I explained to the gentleman that I had just left the cove at Kapalua bay and there were a lot of people snorkeling, it looked okay, and I wanted to make the decision myself at 6-7 a.m. Saturday morning and also Sunday morning but he wouldn't listen as he easily convinced himself that he knew better than everybody else. Lucky for me I found Boss Frogs and a great young man named Cooper who saved the day for us and he was willing to allow us to make that decision ourselves, and I happily gave him our money instead of the other place. He set us up with everything we needed - chairs, umbrellas, fitted us for masks and flippers, and we rented a camera all for two days for a good chunk of money but well worth it. As we thought the case might be, we had a great morning at Kapalua bay (and the surf advisory was canceled) with lots of other families, and then we were able to use the equipment for Black Rock Sunday morning. While I can appreciate the thought of safety, the high-level arrogance and the lack of willingness to allow us to make the decision ourselves, cost this place $500 that we gave to boss frog's down the road. read more

Whoa. Snorkel Bob needs to chill out at this branch. We came on August 22 and were the first one in the store at 8:20 am and the guy who greeted us didn't even look up. Its up to a bad start already. So we let him know we're interested in getting the snorkel set for the day and he immediately snapped back asking if we saw the conditions. We said we didn't and he went on saying that he wouldn't want to rent it out to us since conditions were bad. Actually. That was nice of him to be mindful and letting customers know regarding the conditions. So that's appreciated. What's not was his condescending attitude all along, snapping at us and while we discussed with him the potential spots that could be okay for snorkeling for the day, he'd put us down and sneer at us saying he bet we're wasting our money for the day and that we would break our leg like the lady who rented gear from him and broke hers. We decided to rent the gear despite his bitter remarks and I am so glad we did- we end up going to the two spots we planned and the water was clear and we saw sea turtles and lots of fish. It was a beautiful day. So if we actually listened to this guy we'd missed out on a great day. I appreciate him warning customers but once you've done your due diligence of informing customers, honestly, keep your bitter remarks to yourself. You're doing nobody good by putting other people down. Where's the aloha spirit, mate? Geez. Also I want to add- the gear he rented to us was old. The bag was falling apart and he didn't even give us the little bottle to prevent fog forming. We went on the fourth day to Auntie Snorkel and those guys were amazing- super professional and patient with all the customers, but most of all the gear was top notched and new. If you need to rent gear I would recommend Auntie Snorkel instead! read more

Super chill operation with all the gear you might need for enjoying the ocean critters! We've rented snorkel gear from them several times over the last year and never had any equipment issues. Nick was helpful in fitting the mask so it fit properly for everyone in our group (3). The gear was fairly new and in good condition so no problems with breakage. Good long term rates for the duration of our stay. The team gave us great recommendations for different snorkel spots during our stay based on changing weather conditions. We rented two sets of snorkel gear this morning. When we were out in the water, I realized my snorkel was letting water in. Switched masks with my husband and he had the same experience - water was leaking in so you couldn't breathe through the tube. This ruined our experience since I couldn't breathe while snorkeling. Went back to the shop and the guy told us it didn't look broken and was muttering things under his breath while he gave us a refund for my snorkel rental. Would not recommend. read more

Quick and easy way to get snorkel gear. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very reasonable priced, but most importantly, their equipment is new and functional. We rented 3 pairs of snorkels and fins and no one had any issues. They also give you a sheet of the types of fish and turtles you may see, which made snorkeling way more interesting. They have a drop box too so you can drop off your rentals at any time! If you're going to rent snorkel gear, I highly recommend coming here because you can't beat their price! read more

This was the third time we've visited Napili and Snorkel Bob's has always had good gear and great, friendly service. Wanted to give a shout out to Nick this time. He asked good questions to get the fit right, and set me up. He also had suggestions for how to help my friend, who does not swim well, get comfortable in the water and get a chance to see what's in the reef. Me and my wife needed to rent flippers. We stopped on in and was greeted by a gentleman. We got our flippers and tried them on. Mine fit well but my wifes did not fit well. The gentleman gave another flipper for my wife to try on but it was loose. After couple more times trying on the flippers, the gentleman gave my wife a newer flippers that no one had used and it fit my wife's feet perfectly. Renting from this place was easy. This shop was in walking distance from our condo so we thought we'd try it out. Big mistake we got the "better" gear ($15 more a set) but we all had problems with our sets two people in our group went back and exchanged them the rest just dealt with it. We come to Hawaii at least once a year and usually rent from the snorkel store it's cheaper and we like the snorkels better so now we know, stick to what you like! Also we were talking to the associate about the shark warning board they have up in the store and he went on and on about how unlikely you are to get bit by the shark and more likely to get hit on the head with a coconut but failed to mention the SHARK ATTACK that killed a man that morning, just the next bay over.
