This is our first day of Napili Bay. We just checked in to Napili Kai and came down to the water. A little more crowded than i thought it might be. On the way back , we took time to use the upper Hot Tub. The beach is a fine sand soft slope beach , walk out to depth is all sand. No Surf.

Great beach, water is amazing. It was a bit windy, waves were pretty big. But we enjoyed our time regardless. One star minus because of the bathrooms, nothing around. There was one by the restaurant. And it's only for restaurant guests. With little kids- very changing

Nice beach in a semi protected cove but waves can still be pretty rough since there's a few drop off zones going from the beach into the ocean. Within just 5-8 feet from the beach, there's a drop of about 2 feet and then deeper again as you go further out. So this is why the waves could still be rough especially in the afternoon and definitely on high surf days. However, it can also be very calm early in the morning where it almost looks time a still pond with some ripples. Sand is semi smooth and soft, but there are rocks making the necessity to be mindful if you're going into the ocean without water shoes. Further out are patches of rocks where reefs have taken hold which allows snorkeling especially early in the morning when it's calmer, while a rock outcrop on the left can occasionally have turtles on them. Saw one looking for food there as the turtle came in with the high tide.

Napili Bay Beach is a quiet beach located on the western side of Maui. We stayed in the area so this beach was walking distance and was a great place to walk to in the morning and for sunsets. There are restaurants and other vacation stays adjacent to the beach and although there are a lot of people it is still relatively open with a lot of space. Popular restaurants like Sea House have a view out to the bay. Parking can be difficult so I'd recommend coming early to secure a spot.

The best beach ever! Snorkeling here is amazing so much coral reef and sea life. Please wear sunscreen that is safe for the ocean

Best kids friendly beach with coral reefs and plenty of fish for snorkeling. Mostly catering for the people staying around do parking is premium. Calm beach with clear water. There is sea house restaurant on the north side or you can walk to at least 2 other restaurants island vibes cafe or the gazebo. Spectacular sunset view. Relax. You're in Maui.

Really nice beach! There's shady areas which I was so grateful for and beautiful views. It's not too busy. The water is nice and the waves were perfect but some parts can be rough. Parking isn't bad. There's a restaurant called Sea House if you get hungry.

The best bay beach on this side of Maui IMO. The bay is protected from big sets even if it's a windy day. The sand is soft and the water is warm in parts. We always visit Napoli bay beach a few times whenever we're on the island.

This beach was just ok. It wasn't overly crowded but the shoreline is short and very steep to get down to the water so you can't sit in a chair and dip your toes. Kids got a little bored here. The shaved ice place across the street was great. Never saw the public restrooms. Parking was easy, plenty of spaces.

Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream Just like a dream... It was a nice sunny day in Napili Bay. I had to carry the kids in the water as there would be a sudden drop in the sand that made you go in waist deep. Not a fan of people smoking on the beach then tossing their trash into the sea. They have a shower with a hose to rinse off above. Parking was available on the street. We did have some rain come in during our beach visit but nothing too crazy. Drove by Lahaina, it was a somber feeling as they are trying to rebuild. It was hard to see so many homes destroyed. This beach gave us another view of the nearby island of Moloka'i made me think of St Damien and all those people he served with leprosy. It was great to read a sign that mentioned this area has been helping some of those displaced by the Lahaina Fire as well. Mahalo

Awesome picturesque beach. You get some rocky areas, with some all sand parts that makes it easy to walk into the ocean. There are high rocks that go well out into the water, and you can barely see pocking out. So if you're swimming, or snorkeling, you just need to be watchful. The waves often break right at those rocks, and you don't want to be caught in between those. It's also a great place for paddle boarding. Currently the Yelp page says it's still temporarily closed, but that is incorrect. This whole side of West Maui had been closed during the fires that happened in August 2023, and remained closed for months following. It's re-opened now though, after many, many reports and samples, after samples of both the ground and water to make its safe. Still best not to consume any of the sea water, just in case. That's my tip.

Gorgeous location - pretty accessible and nice snorkeling. It can get crowded however it wasn't too bad and worth it for us since we wanted a safer spot to snorkel. We were able to see wild sea turtles (from 6 foot distance as a reminder!!!) which was amazing

One of the most exclusively beautiful beaches along the the upper western shores of Maui. Just south of Sea House Restaurant, with Makai Hale snack bar with daily calling of the sun set which by the way is a view that's worth it for a life time. Wonderful place to see turtles depending on the season. Winter will be more windy so not recommended for snorkeling and alway check daily weather conditions. But for sunsets always recommended as the sunset are always beautiful in Maui and this beach has a beautiful view.

Originally we…read morewere supposed to stay in Lahaina, but because of the rebuilding of the area, we stayed a little further south. I wish I did stay in the area because the whole area is a vibe. It's a little more touristy with resorts and shopping areas, but once you get on the beach you forget all that. Some of our group was already here and gave us specific instructions on where to park. We parked in a paid parking garage and had to walk between hotels to find the entrance to the beach. This particular stretch is in front of the Sheraton Maui Resort. This beach was awesome! Don't get confused like I did and think this was a black sand beach. Black Rock refers to the giant black lava rock going from the beach into the ocean. It's a very popular cliff diving area. In my opinion, you got to have some athletic ability to do the cliff diving. There's two ways to get to the peak of the rock to jump. There's a path from the shore, but you have to do a little climbing with a very sketch path to the top. The other option is to swim in the ocean towards the end of the rock where you have a little ladder to get you up, but you still have to get to the top of the rock. My friends and I decided to do the swim out which in itself was a challenge. One I got close, I decided to be the photographer in the water for when my friends jumped. We hung out in the water for awhile before swimming back to shore. The beach is perfect for lounging around, with soft white sand and crystal clear water. I brought my snorkel and goggles to really appreciate what's under the sea. We stayed out here way longer than we planned because time flies when you are having fun. On my next trip to Maui, I would totally consider staying right on this beach. I will most definitely be back!

And occasionally, a Hawaiian monk seal that comes up to bask in the sun during the day. Tourists here are the worst though! I have seen them crowding the turtles (10 ft distance is the law), standing on the swimming turtles to treat them like surf boards, and even approaching the monk seals or blocking their path back to the water (50+ ft is the law). Enjoy this beach responsibly and respect the beautiful wild life that frequent this beach.

This beach is very mobility friendly, all the way from the parking lot to the ocean! Parking is plenty, free, and very close. If you can see a cemetery from the parking lot, have no fear, you're in the right place. I love this beach so much because you can go so far into the ocean and the water will still be at a shallow waist level. You have to go pretty far out to get to a point where you can't stand. The waves also break far out, so ripples at shore are super soft. It is very easy to get in and out of. It's the absolute perfect beach for babies, seniors and everyone in between that likes a very leisurely swim. I couldn't get enough of being in the crystal clear water. The water was cool to touch but on the surface where the sun hit, it was warm, almost like bath water! I miss this feeling so much. There's also lots of room, it was not too busy nor flooded with people. There are both sunny and tree shaded areas. We came here at least a handful of times during my short time in Maui. I highly encourage and recommend time to be spent here. I am absolutely dreaming about my return to this beach!

I also took my baby here. The water was shallow and without waves so it was easy for kids to play. The bad: This wasn't the cleanest beach. The sand has a dirty appearance that is kind of mud-like. The fence area is a bit run down and there was debris/trash around. The water looked murky during the time I went. It was quite crowded when I came. Parking can be difficult. The interesting: The beach/sand area is pretty short so it makes it easy for you to walk in, settle down and get to the water without having to carry tons of heavy beach gear far.

Kahana Sands is the northern tip of Pohaku beach, which runs in front of Kahana Beach Resort, along Pohaku Park and then south to the Noelani Condos. Every evening just before sundown we would walk across over busy Lower Honoapilliani Rd with it's blind curves to the public access pathway through the Kahana Beach Resort to Pohaku Beach, and watch the sunset between the steep hills of Lanai to the south and Molokai 8 miles to the west. The beach is narrow and eroding from the pounding of the ocean waves, with areas near the park of no beach, just rocks, and heavy vegetation right next to the road. High surf the entire 10 days that we were there. Not a place for snorkeling, although well known for surfing. Place is often referred to as S turns because of the S turn in the road in the old days, before they straightened it out. Once we drove into the Pohaku Park, with a long narrow paved parking lot. Narrow enough to make it difficult to back out and make an exit onto the one entrance on Lower Honoapilliani Rd. Place filled with locals drinking and relaxing, enjoying the sunset, before commuting back home in Kahului on the other side of the island. BBQ facilities and benches with one porta potty, but no showers in sight. Would not advise changing clothes in the porta potty, as one fall and you might tip over the structure! In which case you would really need to dive into the ocean to clean off your hair and clothes! Talk about a bad hair day! On the south side of the park is a small cove with rocky areas on both sides of the cove. We never went there, but saw it through the trees. Found out later that this is the place to see turtles come up early in the morning onto the beach. Missed opportunity! Only my wife needed her beauty rest, and would never get up that early. And at 63 and being white, she needs every bit of rest she can get to keep away the wrinkles and age spots on her face, hands and legs of father time! We Asians don't age quite that fast! This was one case where the turtles always beat us to the beach in the morning.
