Highly Recommended! The family really enjoyed this beach in Maui. It was my favorite! It's beautiful and you can also rent items like boogie boards and snorkel gear. The beach is clean and the sand is soft unlike Baldwin Park Beach.

Lovely beach next to many resorts and a shopping mall. It was very difficult to find a parking lot to enjoy this beach so I recommend coming here very early like 6:00 a.m. to try to find a spot. I walked this beach while having an acai bowl and matcha in hand. We saw multiple whales breach right offshore next to the boats. It is an absolutely gorgeous beach with a long stretch of sand and calm water. A couple whale watching tours come out of kaanapali beach in the mornings too.

This is our absolute favorite beach whenever we're in Maui. It's peaceful, never crowded, and the waves are always gentle. The water is the perfect temperature for swimming, and while some areas have coral, there are plenty of spots with soft sand and no rocks at all. If you're looking for a place to relax, listen to the waves, and just soak in the beauty of the ocean, this is it. We've spent entire days here under an umbrella and loved every minute. Just a tip--don't let the clouds fool you, you can still get sunburned even on an overcast day!

Kaanapali Beach is our favorite beach to visit on the beautiful island of Maui in Hawaii. Our hotel was located right next to this incredible beach. We could even see the beach from our room!! Such an amazing sight of Kaanapali Beach and the Pacific Ocean! All 7 days of our trip we walked along this beautiful 3 mile stretch of land. It is just so picturesque!! The soft white sand and turquoise waters looked like a postcard. BEAUTIFUL!!! Be careful going into the ocean at this beach. So many folks including some of our family members get knocked down by the waves. Don't underestimate those swells. Enjoy your time at Kaanapali Beach!! Aloha!!!

Beautiful beach. Water is calm. This was right near where I stayed. It wasn't crowded and I saw two turtles on the last day of my trip. They were so close. Beach is very clean and the sand is smooth and not a lot of rocks.

Gorgeous, calm beach. There's all the hotels in front and a touristy shopping area. Beautiful sunsets to witness here!

Beautiful beach with an abundance of shore to hang out in the sun. It's along a row of hotels so plenty of opportunity to slip in for a bite or a restroom break. Surf is pretty calm. Still keep an eye out your little ones. Mild rip currents and swells can eat them up in a hurry. Nice in the evening too. Sit back with a beverage near many spots that have live music.

Beautiful weather all year round. Clean and open. Saw some whales near the border of the buoys. So amazing.

This is a great beach to visit in Maui. You're right next to Whalers Village, where you have access to public restrooms, shopping, and places to eat. The beach is a nice stretch and can get pretty crowded. I didn't see any place to rent umbrellas or chairs but someone had mentioned they have them available at different parts of the beach. There are some boats that come in and out of the area, but other than that just a beautiful beach to see some amazing views. Lots of people snorkeling with wildlife if you're into that.

By far one of the most beautiful beaches on the Maui island. It definitely shares the best view of the wide open ocean and isn't over crowded. Best place to watch the sunset.

    Carol V.

We love this beach. Not just a beach. A beautiful walking trail. The pups love it. So many sights to see along the way. Plenty of restaurants and bars to stop at along the way. Whalers Village is situated about half way down the walking path .Sunset along the path are spectacular. You might just wander into a hula performance or live music along your journey. Parking at many locations or at whalers village parking lot. Not just a beach lots to explore. Wander around you'll see.

Enjoyed the amenities and location. Hotel staff were great. Very close to the water and other local attractions.

Beach Slap Consisting of three miles of gorgeous sandy beaches and crystal blue waters lies one of the more popular stretches of shoreline in Maui. Kāanapali's popularity can be ascribed to it being one of Hawai'i's first planned resort areas, as it's surrounded by five hotels and six condominium villages, as well as a popular shopping and dining destination, Whalers Village. I only spent a little while on the beach catching a sunset after dining at Leilani's, but it's easy to see why it's so popular. There's so much to see and do and a terrific spot for people watching. I will say the one bad thing about this beach is that it's the only one we visited that you might have to pay to visit. While there are some free lots, they will fill up fast, so best to get here early and snag a spot.

Are we able to have a bonfire on the beach?

No fires on the beach. No smoking on the beach either per State law.

I'm planning a trip to Kaanapali for December 1st to the 7th. What is the weather usually like this time of year?

West side is usually drier but you can get rain any day hence rainbows. Weather would prob be highs of 80s and lows is high 60s.

It's the kind of place where you can easily spend the entire day just unwinding. Parking can be a little tricky, so getting there early is worth it. A great tip is to pair your visit with breakfast or brunch at The Gazebo Restaurant right next door. It's super convenient and makes your morning really efficient--grab a meal, then walk straight onto the beach and enjoy the rest of your day. Whether you're swimming, snorkeling, or just laying out and taking in the view, Napili Bay has that classic Maui magic.

Originally we…read morewere supposed to stay in Lahaina, but because of the rebuilding of the area, we stayed a little further south. I wish I did stay in the area because the whole area is a vibe. It's a little more touristy with resorts and shopping areas, but once you get on the beach you forget all that. Some of our group was already here and gave us specific instructions on where to park. We parked in a paid parking garage and had to walk between hotels to find the entrance to the beach. This particular stretch is in front of the Sheraton Maui Resort. This beach was awesome! Don't get confused like I did and think this was a black sand beach. Black Rock refers to the giant black lava rock going from the beach into the ocean. It's a very popular cliff diving area. In my opinion, you got to have some athletic ability to do the cliff diving. There's two ways to get to the peak of the rock to jump. There's a path from the shore, but you have to do a little climbing with a very sketch path to the top. The other option is to swim in the ocean towards the end of the rock where you have a little ladder to get you up, but you still have to get to the top of the rock. My friends and I decided to do the swim out which in itself was a challenge. One I got close, I decided to be the photographer in the water for when my friends jumped. We hung out in the water for awhile before swimming back to shore. The beach is perfect for lounging around, with soft white sand and crystal clear water. I brought my snorkel and goggles to really appreciate what's under the sea. We stayed out here way longer than we planned because time flies when you are having fun. On my next trip to Maui, I would totally consider staying right on this beach. I will most definitely be back!

Kapalua Coastal Trail - Kapalua Bay Public Beach Parking You can plug in Kapalua Bay Public Beach Parking on Google Maps, but free parking is very limited. We drove in circles around 11:50am and couldn't find a single spot! Paid parking nearby was $20, and some restaurants had valet for $10. A little pricey just for a short hike, so we kept looking for other options. 2. Free Parking - Cliff House This lot is inside the Montage Kapalua Bay resort, but only about 10 spaces are actually free. We got lucky after waiting 10+ minutes and snagged a spot. From here, heading left takes you toward the Kapalua Bay side, passing Cliff House, Namalu Bay viewpoint, and Kapalua Bay Beach. After looping back, we continued right toward the Dragon's Teeth Trail. 3. Dragon's Teeth Trail The entrance has a small free parking lot right next to the Ritz-Carlton. Again, spots are super limited, and by the time we got there around 2pm, it was completely full. The trail takes you past Ironwood Cliffs and Oneloa Beach before reaching Dragon's Teeth. 4. Makaluapuna Ridge Trail This section continues further past Dragon's Teeth, but we didn't do this part. **Tips from our walk (123): * Switch Google Maps to satellite view to spot small parking lots. * Free parking is scarce, just come earlier if you can. * Kapalua Bay Beach & Oneloa Beach sections are sandy and flat, good for swimming and easy walking. * Dragon's Teeth is rocky, sneakers are way better than sandals. * Bring water, hat, and sunglasses. Even though it was only mid-70s (F), there's zero shade, and I ended up with a sunburned scalp after 2+ hours because I skipped my hat. Overall, this trail is short and easy, but because it runs through luxury resorts and golf courses, expect crowds. Still, the coastal views are stunning and definitely worth adding to your Maui itinerary.
