I came across this beach after eating a delicious burrito from fish market just across the street. It was a very windy day in Maui with large waves at every other beach that we've seen. We saw that thoa beach had a little a barrier wall so that we could at least take a dip. Be warned, there are lots of rocks and coral even within the barrier. I, along with others, were throwing the rocks out of the way to avoid any potential scrapes or cuts. The current was also very strong, but I believe that was because the waves were extremely large that day. I can also see this spot being a lovely snorkel place beyond the barrier when the waves are calm. There is a large grassy area and a playground for kids nearby. There is also tables and grills that I saw some locals enjoying and having a little party. read more

It is not the nicest park as there is a mixture of homeless and tourists here, but actually - homeless are from what we saw better behaved than many of the drinking party goers. The Ugly: *One account I read stated that the reef here has deteriorated from years past, and there aren't as many fish in the area as there used to be. :( TLDR: Nice beach that wasn't busy at all when we visited. I don't know why this park says temporarily closed, but I'm sure it was due to after the terrible fire that took place in Lahaina. I can say the park is open and active. It is actually a little park I visited multiple times to lay out a bit on the beach near my hotel. It's not a huge beach area, and there is a reef that sits a few feet from the shore. Although, the reef is actually a great thing because it made me feel safer in the water. Please keep in mind DO NOT TOUCH THE REEFS. I had a great and relaxing time at this park. There are some wash stations along with picnic tables that are great for watching the sun set. Highly recommended! read more

Honokowai Park has a small, simple playground with swings but the playground was under construction when we visited in December 2022. The location is great because it's right next to the beach, so little ones can play at the playground (hopefully it will reopen soon) and in the sand/water. There is a parking lot and you can also walk across the street to shop at the Farmers Market (smoothies, sandwiches, salads) and grab a cup of coffee. Super convenient for families! read more

What a gem of a beach park just north of the usually more crowded resort beaches along the Ka'anapali side of the island. My husband and I walked here daily, and often multiple times a day, to dine with a view, walk on the beach, or simply to just stop and stare at the incredible ocean. We even spotted a couple of Honu (Hawaiian Sea Turtles) swimming in the waves a couple of times! It's a small, simple, yet gorgeous beach, with beautiful trees lining the sand to provide some shade and even frame the ocean views. The park itself has a nice, wide grassy area, a swing set for the keiki (kids), a jungle gym with slides, restrooms, picnic tables, and a parking lot right off of Lower Honoapiilani Rd. read more

If I had little kids this would be a fun park to bring them for a day of playgrounds, Sand and gentle waves. We spotted 2 large turtles here behind the corals as well. We were shopping at the farmer's market across the street when we came upon this picturesque beach view. It's definitely a nice spot for photos if you want to risk wading the waters(which I did) and standing on the coral reef that perfect shot. I do love getting great photos! read more

I stayed in Lahaina for a week at the Aina Nalu. I did many fun activities out there, saw many gorgeous places for my first time in Hawaii. And I must say. This place- this park. It absolutely stole my heart. Something about it being a normal park where I could lay down on a towel and feel the breeze and sun peering through the trees leaves on my skin, and as I sat up... it was just this gorgeous, crystal ocean with the mountain's horizon. Hearing families enjoy themselves and children play, as the waves crash. Nothing like it. I went back there twice, but the first time I'd went there was too memorable. I never wanted to leave. Please go here and let go of all your worries like I did, just for that time being. Beautiful setting. We found parking. There's showers to rinse yourself off and the restrooms were insanely clean. And I had the most amazing smoothie from right across the street. I love this place. read more

I've been coming here since I was a baby. I have loved this beach more than any other because it is right across the street from the Farmers Market store and the actual market in the parking lot. I love this place so much I can even explain it. Great place to go in the AM during low tide and catch baby fish etc in the dead coral. All I ask is if you go, keep it clean! read more

Our concierge, a local, recommended this since we have kiddos and knew we weren't interested in places overrun with tourists. It's best for young kids since there's a protected area. Older ones might get a little bored after 1-2 hrs. It's also really nice for folks just wanting a quiet spot without so many tourists. I loved the serenity. Not crowded. Honokowai park sits directly in front of farmers market and in the heart of the Napili, Kahana, Kapalua, Kaanapali and of course Honokawai. I am fortunate to live so close to this park where the crowds are small except on weekends. I walk my 2 dogs their daily so I know many of the shop people and "regulars" which makes the park unique and special to me. The grass is manicured and the beach is a great place for kids at the shoreline and just a quick dip and swim for others. With Molokai sitting majestically I'm front of the park can be stunning at times and the many natural and beautiful Kodak moments can be spotted here frequently. The rainbows, turtles, seals and the breaching of whales are spotted here so many of the tourist that frequent farmers market and some of the other shops across from the park are frequently seen using their phones to capture the many reminders their in paradise. (A coffee from bad ass coffee across the street or a smoothie/bowl from the farmers market) Also had some nice tide pools and snorkeling areas but didn't partake myself. Watch for urchins, saw 2 groups end up with urchins in their feet. Not a lot of tables but never had an issue around 9am during the week. Some homeless but always seemed to be respectful. If you're lucky, there will be a ninja man practicing his trade and giving out upbeat advice. read more

I sometimes visit this park when I get a coconut to drink or Acai Bowl from Farmers Market since it is right across the street. Sometimes when I get a taco from Fish Market I will stop here to eat it. I don't swim here. The only problem with this park is that there seems to be several homeless people that hang out every time I am there. read more

The sunsets are beautiful and the vibe is usually quite mellow. Be aware that there is some rough element there, especially as the evening wears on. this beach is terru! its okay if u have little ones under like 6 and can stay on the shore but if ur older and want to swim a little deeper this is not the place to go. do not listen to the good reviews its not true. there are so many rocks and sharp ones too. my cousin was swimming trying not to touch the ground because of all the rocks but then there was a tall sharp rock that he cut his heel on and had to go to the ER for stitches. and me and my other cousin got a pretty big cut on our toes but not as bad. don't get me wrong the view is to die for but swimming wise i do not recommend. but if u wanna go u do u. read more

Not quite at the Honokowai Park is a section of road where you can park and walk toward the Kannapali Beach. This section of beach is situated in between the two hotels. There is no pathway from the parking lot, but at least its free. You have to walk by a detention pond (read: smelly air while you get to the beach). There is however a nice raised wooden walkway between the two hotels. The more southern hotel has their pool nearby so after the beach you can rinse off at their facilities. The beach section is a bit short as the waves were able to touch our toes once. But lots of shade in between the trees. Water was relatively warm and great to swim in. My main problem with this beach is that the section we were at had a lot of rocks and it also seems like there was a section of concrete in the sand? To top it all off, cut my foot up pretty badly on the rocks. Will be back for the free parking, but maybe I'll make the hike to a rockless section of the beach next time. read more

There's a grassy area, some swings and a volleyball court. The beach has a reef close to shore that makes for some calm and warm tide pools which is great for kids. When we were visited there was a group of possibly homeless drunks who seemed to be a fixture but there weren't too rowdy. read more

My favorite (and most convenient) spot to watch the sunset. This park is great for kids, equipped with a playground and picnic tables perfect for a get together with friends and family. Weekends and summertime can get crowded. There is a parking lot, but just be cautious of all the foot traffic, there can be a lot. Also be careful of the reef if you decide to get in the water, it is very sharp and if the tide gets bigger you better have some Neosporin and bandages handy. I'd advise not to get in the water, it's not really the best place to swim and there are some sea creatures that reside there that you may not want to make friends with, but if you must, take caution. I assure you there are beaches literally down the road perfect for swimming, this is a park, so just relax and enjoy the view. Better yet just bring a blanket and picnic basket, sit on the sand or grass and watch the sunset with your sweetheart, (and if you have kids let them run a muck at the playground) - it will be one of the most romantic (and simple) dates of your life :) read more

Located on the Lower Honoapiilani Rd, this is a nice little park for kids. There is a playground structure, bathrooms and when the tide is out, a safe wading area for kids. There is limited parking. There is a farmer's market 3 days a week across the street along with daily grocery, food and coffee options. The park is walking distance from several vacation condos in the area. read more

Been going here since baby time. Love it because its great for small kids and big kids. The first reef makes a great area for babies and kids that don't know how to swim. The second reef is great because the bigger kids have a place to swim. Couple years ago they put in a playground and swing set which was a nice addition. The downer is the showers. I know some beaches don't even have showers but these showers tend to form pools. Which seem to never dry out and therefore making it stink. Of course there are dummies that clean fish over there too and don't bother cleaning up after themselves. SMH. The bathrooms used to be horrid! But they fixed it up. We just have to take pride in our facilities and keep it clean. I'm not saying go on your hands and knees and scrub your heart out. Just, if you make a mess, clean it up. Common courtesy people. We've seem to have forgotten what that is now days. read more
