We rented one Tommy Bahama beach umbrella, which only cost $25 for an entire week AND included hotel drop-off and pickup! What a deal! The owner was such a nice man too. His store burnt down in the fire and he can't rebuild, so if you can support a local business owner, I highly recommend you choose his business. He also rents out snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. If you won't be able to see him when you check out, he lets you leave his gear at check-in with his business card and your room number, and he'll pick it up later. read more

Doesn't get any better in Maui for rentals. Used Mike multiple times for weeklong snorkel and boogie board rentals. He's super responsive, has excellent pricing, and drops the gear at your hotel/resort. Incredibly convenient. Way more affordable than any resort rentals. And he's happy to share his local knowledge of best spots for food, surf, or snorkeling. Highly recommended. read more

Gear delivered day of order...we were able to get everything for the week at the same price for a day at the resort. Everything new or like new condition. Great service and response time. We needed a mask switched and it was very easy and fast. read more

Our first trip to Maui and a friends friend recommended...Maui Mike went out of his way to get us our gear! We weren't aware that his business had been affected by the fires in Lahaina and therefore he had no storefront for us to "pickup" our gear which was our plan. He met us half way and dropped off 4 snorkel sets for our family and met us to pickup a week later! So kind and grateful! We will always use Maui Mike in the future. What amazing customer service! We will always suggest friends and family!! read more

My first time renting boards from Maui was back in 2018, since the fires I wasn't aware that they had reopened via a delivery service! Was able to get our surfboards delivered to the beach we were going to, and the whole experience was -as always- stellar, welcoming, knowledge building, lovely. I'm excited to continue recommending Maui Mike's for rentals to everyone! read more

My teen wanted to surf but didn't want to go to the local spot where everyone was taking lessons. I wasn't sure what to do. I called up Maui mike for advice and possibly a rental. He was great, told me what to do and best places to go. When I hung up the phone I thought I might just "wing it" the next day. Surprisingly later that day, I got a text from him offering to hand deliver a surf board to the beach we discussed the next day! Uh, yes please! It was so great, we met in the parking lot, he taught us how to strap the board to our rental car, even gave my daughter some pro tips. Then after our day of fun he met us to retrieve the board at a local spot. And it was affordable! Please support this small business, it was a fabulous experience! read more

Updated with pictures!! Took 8+ months, but I was finally able to download my pics from the "cloud". 5/31/22 *See SF Japantown Yelp - pictures to be uploaded if I can recover. I insisted my daughter try a different shaved ice business. Spread the love??? We have been here before but so long ago that I forgot. Quality/Quantity - Yelp check in gets you a free scoop of ice cream. Medium shaved ice with 3 flavors - Pineapple, Mango & Guava with Mac Nut ice cream for $1.25 more. Sorry, not as good as your competitor; which now I have to take my daughter too... Atmosphere - Local owned family business. Side business of their rental business? Outdoor seating, bathroom inside rental business. They also have a food truck on their property, we have not tried them yet; see pictures. Cool decor, see picture. Love your painted mural on your wall. Limited parking, but still no problem. Open 6 days a week, closed Sundays. Service - Good, our cashier was "Surfer Dude". If you know, you know. They also have a loyalty program, we gave our card to the next customer as we only come once a year. Price - $6.51 + Tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1999 and at this location since 2008.. Like your website, "Although Life is Primo," but maybe also have Maui Mike Beach House or equipment rental, etc...? read more

Stop reading reviews and rent your gear from Maui Mike! unbelievable value and service. Easy process, from clear text communication to pickup and dropoff at our hotels. He brought multiple sizes to make sure my fins fit right and gave us an extra snorkel mask in case we had any fit issues at the beach. Thanks Maui Mike! can't recommend enough and looking forward to renting again on the next trip. read more

A delicious pit stop! Fluffy shaved ice topped with your choice and flavor and you get a heavenly treat to cool you down any day! We tried the watermelon and mango (watermelon was our favorite of the two) and the chunky monkey (very delicious but we preferred the refreshing flavor of the watermelon) . Will make it a destination during all our Maui stays! read more

Maui Mike is the best! In addition to providing all of our beach gear at a great price, Mike is super friendly and helpful. Awesome surf lessons and rentals from Maui Mike! Highly recommend! We were surfing on our first wave.

My family rented beach a beach chair and umbrella from Mike at Maui's Beach House for our 8 day stay in Wailea. At $25 per item for a week rental, the price is literally unbeatable. Add in the fact that Mike delivered the chair and umbrella to us at the Grand Wailea for no extra charge as well as came and picked them up, and you've got an amazing experience created by a fantastic local business. Last time we were on Maui (2019) we went to a couple Ululani's for shave ice then to the Olowalu General store which we liked much better for the more authentic atmosphere and the shave ice itself. We were headed back (on a Sunday I think) and it was closed! (Insert sad face here) with 2 disappointed kids, we found Maui (Mike's) Beach House and have been back every time. Best Shave Ice on Maui! (IMO) price is right, flavors you can't beat and "local style" with vanilla ice cream and sweet cream is the way to go fo sho! Get a punch card - 10 and the next is free. 4 of us we go 3 times per trip. Favorite flavors: Me (old guy) Pineapple, Coconut, Banana; wife - Banana, Mango, Pineapple; Daughter 1 - cotton candy; Daughter 2 - strawberries and cream with chocolate ice cream. I went chocolate ice cream last time (those fruits seem to go with chocolate) and it was also good. People are great, there usually isn't a line. They do come out one at a time so the second time you go switch up the order so you don't have to stare while the kids eat.... Again. read more

Mike is awesome. He treated me like an old friend when I inquired about renting a surfboard on our last day on island. He had a great selection of boards, fair pricing and top-notch service, which resulted in closing out our trip on a high point. I just wish I had found him sooner. I would 100% recommend Mike and his business. Aloha spirit was very evident from the initial telephone call to returning the boards. I will definitely rent his boards (and try the shave ice) the next time I visit Maui. Mahalo, Mike! read more

The hot dog (also spelled hotdog) is a grilled or steamed sausage sandwich where the sausage is served in the slit of a partially sliced bun. It can also refer to the sausage itself. The sausage used is the wiener (Vienna sausage) or frankfurter (Frankfurter Würstchen, also just called frank). Whether you are visiting or a local, eating a hot dog is not high on the list. But not all hot dogs are created equal. One item that separates Maui hot dogs from hot dogs available elsewhere are the local toppings that are served on them. I will admit that I am born and raised here, and have not had the pleasure to enjoy a couple of the iconic hot dogs known throughout the island, until today! I may be biased, but of all of the three hot dogs I had today, I like BIG DOGS and I cannot lie! read more

Your one stop shop for a fun, and cheap, day in Lahaina. There's no tables but you're basically 1 block inland from Front Street, so walk your goodies to the water and enjoy it there. We got the All Beef dogs with Maui onions which were huge and quite filling, definitely a good deal. I got the Tiger's Blood (strawberry and coconut) shave ice with the Macnut Roselani ice cream filling. Yum! This place is a nostalgic throwback to the days when Maui was a low key hippie haven, before the days when the $1,000/day resorts sprung up. Enjoy it while it's still here! read more

I stopped by here earlier yesterday with my wife for a shave ice. We had seen Mauis Beach House a couple of days earlier and thought it was cool that they also served shave ice in addition to having their store. The building is large and has vibrant yellow and greens painted outside (at least on the back) and sits right on RT 30. For our shave ice on this afternoon my wife and I went with a passion fruit and coconut on top of Mac nut ice cream. The flavors here ended up being really good as both the coconut and the passion fruit came through nicely. My only complaint with them was that they were a bit too sweet for my liking although not as cloyingly so as other places. At least the syrup was evenly distributed and made it all through the ice without having to get more. As for the ice itself, it was thin and fluffy. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed the shave ice and thought that the syrups here were a good combination of flavor and sweet without being over the top. read more

Maui's Beach House is a must visit shop if you are looking to get in the ocean solo, with friends, or family. Maui (the owner) is a good hearted smiling soul who has a chill and customer service centered vibe. He is extremely Knowledgeable for locals too. I live on Maui and have been surfing a few years. I went to Maui to rent a new board to try different sizes and shapes on the bigger waves. Maui spent time talking to me about his fav boards and what boards would be best suited for my needs. He cares about the island and all people who live and visit Maui. As a local I highly recommend this shop no matter where you stay on the island. My fav beaches are all on the West Side! If Maui isn't around, Jeannette can help you out. She is extremely sweet and has a warm presence like Maui. Amazing vibes and Aloha spirit flows through this place. Stop by for any beach toys or an ice cold shaved ice. 10 stars infused with aloha, gratitude, and love for Maui. read more

We tried this place today for shave ice, and it didn't disappoint! My husband got the "Jon Snow" and I ordered "Salty and Sweet." Both were delicious, but mine was more photogenic! A true friend to all and gives selflessly in every way possible providing an island experience like no other. Just about anything you could want to enjoy beach life, they have or will share. Maui Mike, Heather, and Kimberly treated us like family. 1st time customer and we got the royal treatment, keys to the van to safely store the board rentals for the week as needed, and free reef booties. Maui will hook you up with boards that fit your skill level, give you the lowdown on where to ride, how to enjoy each location, and how to stay safe which ultimately made surfing more fun than ever. He gave me a lifetime of experience in an easy to understand lesson. The shop is full of amazing gear and beach fun essentials. Found the best board shorts ever, stretchy, and light like air which also dried super quick. Everything for little babies to adults. Oofos flip flops will change your life, so comfy, bouncy cushion, and they float. So amazing we hiked 8 miles on our road to Hana day in them. They have all the best gear you need for anything. Beach blankets in a tiny bag, high end sunglasses at not high end prices, GoPros and accessories, rash guards, clothing, and so much more at reasonable prices. So much more to share yet I think you get the point, make this your 1st stop at the beginning of your stay, you will see what I mean.
