He came out, on time, obviously knew exactly what he was doing, and correctly diagnosed the problem within less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the manufacturer no longer makes the necessary part. However, with Ray's guidance, I was able to find one on eBay (new). I ordered it and it arrived about a week later. One more call to Ray had him out at the house the day after the part arrived and 30 mins. later we were back in business (figuratively speaking). Ray is great. We had a problem with our fridge leaking water and couldn't find the problem on our own. Hesitant to call the manufacturer and pay their prices, we called Ray instead! He, too, had trouble locating the source of the leak, but was determined to fix the issue. Finally, he popped out the drip pan and discovered a giant crack. He ordered a new one, installed it, and we haven't had any problems since. He's on time and committed to fixing the problem if he can. Our fridge got a bit wonky this weekend with the freezer and fridge not ciruclating cold air properly. Our ice and water dispenser also stopped working. My husband called Sno-King Appliance Service after finding the reviews on Yelp. Ray said he'd be at the house between 9-11am on Tuesday and he got there right at 9am. Immediately he found that the fan was broken. He said he'll come back between 3-5pm that same day to pick up the parts. He got there about 3pm and fixed the problem. He quickly diagnosed my dryer as needing a new thermostat, put the new part in (he had one with him), and was all done in 15 minutes. Called Sno-King Appliance to check out our washing machine that flooded water all over the floor on two occasions. Ray came out on 7-1 to check it out. I'm not sure what he did other than run it through a cycle or two and it did not flood those times. I told him it only happened sometimes so I was disappointed that he only spent an hour or maybe less checking it out and still billed us 50 bucks to tell us it "was not leaking at this time". Gee. Great. Thanks.. It flooded the next day. We just bought a new washer rather than having it flood through several rooms a 4th time. I think that a half decent repair man could diagnose what was wrong or at least give some ideas as to what it could be, even if it didn't flood when he was here. And if he can't figure it out- $50.. really? What a waste of money. read more

Our house has a 1980s-era dishwasher that stopped working. Our troubleshooting suggested no water getting into dishwasher. I had first called another service company. The repairperson was dismissive, and came up with a different diagnosis, of a defective controller, which required that he order a new version of that part. From a combination of lack of trust in the repairperson and lack of trust in the diagnosis, I wanted a second opinion. I called Ray Ingalls based on a referral. Mr. Ingalls came at the beginning of the time window he said he would, and diagnosed a bad solenoid-operated valve-- a valve that lets water into the dishwasher. He then quoted a price and a time for a return visit. On that visit, he came at the beginning of the time interval he said he would, replaced the part, and tested the machine. He charged $170, ~40% of the $400+ charge quoted by the dismissive repairperson who had mis-diagnosed the problem. A completely nice, completely capable, completely professional person. Several years ago Ray fixed our front loading washing machine. It's still working. When our refrigerator fan motor started making a loud squeaky noise my husband decided to try and fix it himself. He ordered a fan motor (per the manufacturers website), and then when it didn't fit had to order a new housing and after that, a new bracket. Despite the effort, the fan motor was the wrong part! He decided to call Ray. Ray came and took a look, said he had the part in his truck and gave me a quote for repair. Within 30 minutes the new fan motor was replaced and the refrigerator is quiet again. Ray said the bearing was going out. We could have saved much frustration if we would have called him from the get go! read more

Ray is awesome! A critter got under my fridge and ate through the water lines all the way to the hidden tank, somewhere in the bowels of the fridge. Ray came out for an assessment, determined I needed a new tank, found the part on line, and scheduled a return. During his return trip, at one point my freezer door was disassembled on my floor, the bowels were removed to replace the tank, and after about 90 minutes, Ray gave me a serious look and said we needed to get UNDER the fridge. He never slowed down, never swore, and thoroughly tested his work. The bill was hundreds less than I was expecting. I would call Ray again for any appliance problem. read more

Great service. Last year our washer stopped spinning and Ray came out but it had magically fixed itself when he started taking a look at it. He just charged us for the service call and said that if it happened again in (I forget the time span but it was reasonable) just call him again and he would not charge the service call charge again just the repair. Now a year later we had a totally unrelated problem. I called him on a Friday night and it wasn't an emergency so he was out promptly on Monday. He diagnosed and fixed the problem within a half hour and the price was totally reasonable, definitely better than me diagnosing it myself and trying to figure out what to get at the hardware store. We had called major appliance store service line - they couldn't get anyone out for 2-3 days, were giving us a 4 hour window of arrival and were charging $120 for service call alone. After reading yelp reviews, we called sno-king. Ray was available that morning was flexible with the scheduling, and even showed up early for the appt. Had part in truck. Fixed it right away. Totally reasonably priced . Would definitely use him again. Only drawback is that he does not offer emergency/weekend service and that he does not take credit cards.
