Until this past weekend. We went in for my partner's birthday, and I'm sure glad we did. They normally don't like rich desserts or cakes, but they love pretty nice, high end dark chocolates. Chocolate Secrets did not disappoint. We arrived with our family, including two little ones in tow. They actually treated our kids with such love and care. It was slightly understaffed, but even then the service was excellent. We ended up taking a box of nine chocolates to go. Pro tip: they also host jazz nights on most nights. It also seems like a really cool spot for hosting events. My favorite so far was the Yes Yes Yes Truffle. It has milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate. So I decided to swing by. It was a great decision because their house made pistachio ice cream is the best pistachio ice cream I've ever had anywhere in the world. Pistachio is one of my favorite flavors, and this was simply the best. Chock full of pistachios. The perfect balance of sweet with just a pinch of saltiness. Creamy and delicious and just the absolute perfect treat for a 105° day. Unfortunately, I didn't stay as long as I would have liked because when I first walked in I was greeted with the stench of mildew. I'm not sure if they had some sort of water intrusion event recently, but but there was a strong musty mildew smell soon as I walked through the door. In addition to the ice cream, I also bought some chocolate covered mango and apricot but I ended up taking that to go because I couldn't deal with the smell any longer. I tried my chocolate covered treats when I got home but unfortunately the chocolate just didn't have any taste. None whatsoever. It was rather disappointing. The staff was kind and friendly and welcoming so I appreciated that, and while my visit was much shorter than I anticipated, I would come back for a (quick!) couple scoops of that pistachio ice cream.

I am a true lover of excellent snow cones and have tried them all over the world. Sno is clear winner for the best snow cone/shaved ice that have found. I have been a regular customer of theirs from back when they sold them out of Doc's. I also frequent their location in the Carnival grocery on Webb Chapel. This place is all hype, the snow cones taste like something you would get for free at some party function or something. Also, the manager looks like a pornstar actor, like seriously, he looks exactly like Ron Jeremy. And I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want someone like that handling my snow cone. Plus on top of all this, they fired my girl for apparently working too hard. Heavy foolery, don't come here; go somewhere else! Would have rated it zero stars if I could have. Trash. read more

I wanted to try something a little different, so I ordered two scoops: Marionberry Cheesecake and Strawberry. The Marionberry Cheesecake sounded really unique, but unfortunately I didn't get much of a cheesecake flavor from it. It was still good and interesting at first, but once the two scoops started melting together, the strawberry and Marionberry flavors became pretty indistinguishable. I turned mine into more of a sundae with chocolate, whipped cream, sprinkles, and cherries. The total came out to around $15, which definitely felt steep for ice cream, although knowing now that everything is vegan gives me a little more context on the pricing. Surprisingly, my FAVORITE part was the chocolate topping! It hardened pretty quickly over the ice cream, almost like a chocolate shell, and it was delicious. It definitely didn't taste like the standard chocolate syrup you get at most ice cream shops. The cherries were also noticeably nicer than your typical bright red maraschino cherries. They were darker, juicier, and reminded me more of the type of cherries you would find in a nice dessert or pie filling. Unfortunately, the customer service really brought down the experience. When I walked in, both employees were cleaning and didn't seem particularly welcoming. Since the ice cream flavors weren't visibly displayed and everything looked so clean, I genuinely thought they might be closing. I asked, "Are you guys closing?" and the response I received was, "If we were closed, the door would have been locked." Okay then. . . It immediately made the interaction feel uncomfortable and honestly discouraged me from asking to sample any additional flavors. Since this was my first visit, a little friendliness or even a quick explanation of how everything worked would have made a huge difference. After paying, I also asked if I could leave my ice cream on their side of the counter for just a moment while I quickly used the restroom since I was there alone. I was told no and to leave it unattended on one of the tables because no one would bother it. Not a huge issue on its own, but combined with the interaction beforehand, it added to the overall feeling that the service just wasn't particularly accommodating or welcoming. Overall, the ice cream was okay. I appreciate that there is a place offering fully vegan ice cream and more unique flavors, especially for people who specifically need or want dairy-free options. The chocolate shell was genuinely delicious and the standout for me. But for around $15, I personally expected the ice cream itself to be more memorable. More importantly, a warmer customer service experience would have made my first visit significantly better.
