You've never had an ice cream sandwich like one at Coolhaus. There are different ice cream flavors and cookies to choose from to make our own unique sandwich. Salted Caramel with Chocolate Chip Vanilla with Red Velvet Mint Chocolate Chip with Snickerdoodle Each sandwich had a crazy blend of different flavors. Salty and sweet, light and decadent. We had to eat them fast since it was a hot summer day at Klyde Warren. Good thing the wrapper is also edible!

I had high expectations for this food truck because I went on their website and saw all of the crazy flavors they had. I was so excited for beer & pretzels, cuban cigar, and others. I went and was trying to decide between whiskey lucky charms and fried chicken & waffles. I was told I could only try one and I had already tried whiskey lucky charms, so that's what I felt like I had to get. They should at least limit samples to two. The whiskey lucky charms ended up being just okay and lacked the amount of marshmallows shown in the picture.

Recently got the chance to try Coolhaus at Klyde Warren Park and I must say it was a tasty treat! Being at the actual truck, I knew that they were limited on flavors because cmon let's be honest. It's a small truck. There was a long line behind me but the young lady at the window was kind enough to let me sample a flavor. After picking my flavor, I decided on my cookie. Overall I ended up with the blackberry ginger sorbet with salt and sugar Nutella cookie. The ice cream itself was nice and refreshing, just what I was looking for on a bright sunny day. It was tart with a hint of spice. Now the cookie, now let this be known that I am not really a cookie sandwiches fan. The temperature of the ice cream usually makes cookies, in general very hard, therefore making it somewhat difficult to eat, BUT HOWEVER this was not the case. The cookie was just the perfect consistency, soft and didn't harden with the temperature of the ice cream. The salt and sugar cookie I got had the perfect sweet and savory combo with a hit of hazelnut with the Nutella. It was pretty awesome. Overall my Coolhaus experience was great! They have really unique ice cream flavors and tasty soft cookies. Oh and if you prefer vegan or gluten free, they do offer some on the truck as well

Amazing ice cream sandwiches! I got the chocolate chip cookie with lava chocolate cake ice cream sandwich. The sandwiches are a good size - very filling! The cookies are nice and soft while the ice cream has brownie pieces. I enjoyed the combination and would recommend it. Long lines, but very fast service. Next time, I want to try the Snickerdoodle cookie and Apple Pie ice cream combo.

Choc Chip cookie with Nutella almond ice cream

NOM NOM NOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is all hear when I reminisce about that yummy Chocolate Nutella Almond Ice Cream, Sandwiched in between 2 Chocolate Chip Cookies! This uniquely architecture dessert was one of the BEST sweets I had in very long time. A perfect size scoop of ice cream accompanied by homemade chewy cookies is a simple combination; however Coolhaus definitely knows what it takes to make a darn good ice cream sandwich! The ice cream selections were a twist on your traditional, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry... They had flavors like: Beer & Pretzels, Brown Butter Candied Bacon, Fried Chicken & Waffles, Salted Caramel and More! Their cookies were also one of a kind with flavors such as: Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Captain Crunch, S'more's, Vegan Carrot Cake and Potato Chip & Butterscotch just to name a few! After contemplating back and forth on what I wanted to get, here comes this clever little boy who schooled me on what to order lol! I assumed he was a regular the way he broke that menu down and paired each cookie with a flavor of ice cream. I also learned that that the holding paper was edible! It's made out of potato starch, which was a true wow factor for me. This cool invention helps prohibits the messiness of trying to enjoy an ice cream sandwich as you struggle to eat around the paper. At Coolhaus you can just eat the entire thing!!!! But here's a warning... the only awkward part about that is when you devour into this deliciousness in front of a group of people, they might stare at you because they think that you are so greedy enough to eat piece of wrapping paper! #TrueStory So if you're out enjoying a beautiful day at Klyde Warren Park, and your indecisive about what truck to stop at.... I highly recommend Coolhaus! I bet my bottom $5.50 you won't be disappointed.

This is the ice cream sandwich that I have been waiting my entire life for. Big, delicious scoops of ice cream dumped onto amazing cookies. Its not neat- but I am going to have a hard time going back to grocery stores ice cream sandwiches. You choose your ice cream then you choose your cookie. Great ice cream flavors such as molten chocolate lava. Really interesting cookies such as Peanut Butter Captain Crunch and Potato Chip. I went with the Chocolate Ice Cream and Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. Amazing. They are a food truck so go track them down. If you don't you are missing out on the ice cream sandwich you have been waiting on your entire life.

The Cinnamon Toast Crunch cookie is so good with any coffee ice cream. It's the best ice cream sandwich place!

Chocolate Chip with Guiness Chip Ice Cream: $5.50

Having experienced Coolhaus in LA, I was excited to find that they had a presence in Dallas. Fortunately for me but unfortunately for Coolhaus, I also discovered Texas-native Tiff's Treats (http://www.yelp.com/biz/tiffs-treats-dallas), which is better than Coolhaus in essentially every possible way. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? When it comes to food trucks, you really do need to be on your grind 24/7. After all, it's not like you're providing customers with any sort of overhead. In the case of Coolhaus, they nail it, and you'll find friendly and quick service. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? The amazing thing about an ice cream sandwich is that it's so simple. A little bit of ice cream, two cookies, and bingo, you've got a treat that's simple and CHEAP. Unfortunately, Coolhaus sort of misses the cheap memo here, and a small ice cream sandwich will run you a lofty $5.50. $5.50? For this? http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=WXA7tN_tHhyoItmGshCRow&userid=OKX-V5j_qfuOebeHeWGrHg But... didn't I just spend less than a dollar more for a burger next store? Hm. I can't really get behind that. No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Again, ice cream sandwiches are simple, which makes them pretty hard to mess up. That being the case, a key ingredient to success here is selection yeah? And while Super mocha Guinness chip deluxe and Nutella almond butterbean mcgreatness sound great and are unique, I was a bit disappointed that I didn't see, you know, chocolate on the menu. From there things didn't get much better. My chocolate chip cookies were maybe a step or two away from fresh and the ice cream was over-frozen to the point where it was really falling apart on me. Was it a bad experience? No, but I was wishing I had gone to Tiff's. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Having a dessert option on the food truck scene is a must, but unfortunately Coolhaus falls just a tad bit short of the local competition. No Star Granted.

One of the few trucks in Klyde Warren Park that actually has a line of people.

I usually find the Coolhaus food truck at Klyde Warren Park. I've tried the ice cream sandwich from here a couple of times now and I can tell a little about it. Both times, I've gone with a safe choice of the double chocolate cookie with vanilla bean ice cream. I was surprised when I first took a bite and the cookie was pretty soft and chewy. The texture and richness of the cookie was perfect. The ice cream however, wasn't anything too special. Good and creamy vanilla bean flavor. Not too sweet and perfect combination with the cookie. It was a nice treat for a hot summer day, although it started to melt and get messy. I paid $5.50 for the sandwich, which was pretty pricey but a normal food truck price in my opinion. Also, I think that it is pretty cool that they have an edible ice cream sandwich wrap. Next time, I'll probably go for their red velvet cookies and possibly that Nutella ice cream.

Balsamic fig and mascarpone ice cream on red velvet cookies
    Vlad T.

Balsamic fig and mascarpone ice cream between chewy red velvet cake cookies? Yeah, that's good. There were chunks of fig in there, man. If you're going to have an ice cream sandwich, make it a good one, y'know? Like most desserts, it gets to be too much sweet for me by the end, so next time I plan on having them split the ice cream on the cookies separately and sharing.

The first time I stumbled upon Coolhaus was at a food truck rally in Frisco years ago. It was a hot summer afternoon...and the line was insanely long. My friends and I had split up to line up for different food trucks and by the time we were able to make our way over for dessert, they were SOLD OUT! WHAT! :( Extremely sad. I followed them on Twitter for a few months but never had a chance to make out to them. Finally I saw them at a different food truck rally...that was definitely the first stop. Forget real food. I just want their ice cream! I love the concept. I love how I can choose my own ice cream and cookie combo. I didn't really know what to pick. I wanted it all!! (I can't really remember what I had exactly but ice cream was bourbon and cookie was red velvet...a weird combo..) It was goooooood! If you find the time, make your way to them!

Ginger Molasses Cookie & Coffee Oreo Cookie Ice Cream with edible wrapper
    Gabrielle R.

Great concept, I mean who doesn't love cookies and ice cream? Coolhaus has a great selection of freshly baked cookies and gourmet ice creams made with local ingredients. I had the Coffee Oreo Cookie Ice Cream sandwiched between two yummy Ginger Molasses Cookies and my husband had the Dirty Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (Dirty = real mint leaves with a hint of brown sugar) sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies, both were yummy! I particularly enjoyed the edible wrapper they serve with the ice cream sandwich adding a different level of sweet and chewy to the treat. Definitely looking forward to returning and trying a new sweet combo!

Be sure to add the extra sauce toppings available below the pickup window. The portions are filling too. Instead, they had concession booths this time around. Also, they lost the snow rink, which was real fun and replaced them with free Santa photo-op and kid's crafts activity. They also lost a great light show. They projected lights onto big buildings a couple years ago and made it a dynamic show. This year, they just projected a static logo onto the huge buildings. Having said all that, the main activities stayed the same, which was free give-aways of blinking twinkling Reliant santa hats, fireworks, and concert.
