Yet another stereotypical staffing agency experience. Where do I start? Well I got a call from Veronica at this location one morning regarding my resume that I have up on Monster. She had a position open that I had the skills for- plus the bonus skill of speaking Japanese which is what the company wanted. I told her I was interested so I did the ProveIt tests (as I've done so many times in the past already) and set up an interview for 8:30 the next morning to do paperwork. I went in and did the first set of paperwork which included some silly tests about filing and what not. Then I saw the agent, Veronica, to fill out more forms and do the interview. She grilled me on Japanese phrases but she didn't speak Japanese so I felt like I was just sitting there racking my brain for phrases I can't directly translate for nothing. Then I was ushered off to watch the TWO safety videos and finish my paperwork at the same time. I had to do tax forms and idiotic other forms that every temp agency has while watching two fake newscasters tell me common sense over the course of at least 40 minutes. But I've suffered through this all before so I decided to suck it up and do it since they actually had something for me. I finished the interview and left feeling confident, but still incredibly skeptical. I had reason to be as well. It took 4 weeks for me to get just an interview with the company for reasons I'm still unsure of. The company was apparently dragging their feet and not getting back to Snelling so I can't fault them on that. What I can fault them on is their lack of communication. Never once did I get an update that wasn't prompted by me emailing and asking what was going on. Even when there was an update I wasn't "kept posted". Finally I had the interview and all seemed well. I waited a week and then emailed Snelling, asking Veronica if they had said anything yet. Turned out the company hired on their own and Snelling knew it, but no one, not a single person, thought to contact me- the only person they had sent to this company. Granted they are a busy, busy place, but it's not unreasonable to have even the receptionist send out emails to candidates who didn't get a job. How are we supposed to know? If I emailed, I'd have to wait hours to get a response and calling them always resulted in talking to someone other than my agent. The only reason this location gets 2 stars is for Nancy. She is very, very nice and even called me the day of the interview to wish me luck. Other than that I cannot recommend this, or any other, agency. They have awards coating their walls, but I'm sure they're purely for number of people signed up versus people they successfully place in a job. So I shall close with the same thing I've said in my reviews for Apple One: I've noticed that this is standard practice from temp/staffing agencies. Unless the company already knows you and has committed to hiring you, don't bother. Every staffing agency will make you fill out form after form, a W-2, watch the stupidest safety videos, and go through an interview merely to completely ignore you. If you do manage to get an interview through them with a company, don't expect them to contact you if you didn't get the job. They'll never let you know. read more

I will begin by saying that when I needed a job, Snelling was there, I had left a good job at SFO for something local and Snelling accommodated me. I had been told from the beginning that the job was very demanding and unble to continue the assignment. Incompetent I was originally called by one of Snellings recruiters. She said there were some positions opened that matched my resume I had submitted online. So we scheduled an interview. At the interview I was introduced to a different recruiter. We discussed my resume. And I explained that I was looking for work in IT, Computers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance. I explained that I was currently working for an IT support company part time but that I was looking for IT work full time. She told me that she would review my resume further and discuss with me how to make it better for the positions I was looking for. More than a week went by with nothing. Then I got a call from them for a one day physical labor job at 10.15/hr. Putting up canvas tents. Not my field of work and I am 59 years old. but what the heck I could use a few buck so I took the job. I was told to complete some online job info for taxes. etc and just to show up,. On the day of the job out of four requested temps from snelling. the only one to show up was me. The customer was very upset with snelling and canceled any further business with them. I was sitting there when he did it. He said that it was typical for them to have no shows. So after a week I didn't receive a check. Then I got a call for another one day physical labor job on the next day. They seemed kind of put off that I didn't except the job. I was already scheduled for other work so I couldn't. Then I mentioned that I didn't receive a check yet after about two weeks. I was told it would be resolved immediately. I also told her that I was looking for a real IT type job and not day laborer. And she said Oh! you're doing IT work. We have lots of requests for that. Where was she when I discussed my resume and that I was looking for IT work? She seemed to have no Idea of my professional qualification or talents. Another week passed and still no check. So I called them, It started out nicely. After several holds and transfers, I was directed to payroll. Immediately I was put on the spot about how I submitted my hours, when did I fill out the online forms. did I do it in time. etc. like the delay was my fault. So now I'm feeling a bit insulted. I told her that I was just directed to show up and work. Which I did. And that the hours had been confirmed by email. It was nearly a month and I wanted my check by tomorrow. I was put on hold a couple of more times until she said they had found the check a a box for pick up. It had been sitting there since the 26th and that I had to come in to get. At this point I asked to speak to the manager. Jason is his name. I told him of the incompetency of his group. How I have been waiting for my check, How it was somehow was my fault, and How their recruiters had no clue about finding real jobs for professionals. I said that they needed to mail me the check because i could not come in as i was working. To which he replied "Yeah, to a job we gave you. I replied "No, this is a real job". I don't work for you. (Is that how they treat employees needing assistance?) Very unprofessional and childish. I also told him that I was aware of clients dropping him to which his response was that snelling had dropped them. A lie. Then Jason hung up on me. I agree with Ryan S and Lana T's reviews. These people are incompetent and should be avoided. I've worked for some pretty poor temp agencies but they are top of the bottom as far as I'm concerned. Stay away. Where do i start! This place is not worth your time as a Temp.Service. I took an assignment at Ashley Furniture in Oakland as a receptionist but within the first 2 hours it was clear i wasn't welcome and that they wanted a previous employee back that lost the position.I (at first break)called Snelling to say that the environment was not good and ask to leave. I was told they would find someone else. Almost 3 weeks later, i went to recieve my 2 hour check that was lost(2nd time check was delayed) only to find out that my check was only for 1.5 hours.I asked manager and she said," that's what the employer wanted."I took my first break after two hours so why would Snelling short me?They knew i was on break at time i called so regardless what the employer said i should of been compensated for time worked. Although the half hour wasn't much more why would this Temp. Service violate the LAW? This is unexceptable to me and have a call in to Corporate. I plan to make all the noise i can concerning this VIOLATION of LAW and the UNPROFFESSIONALISM i experienced at this agency. Very poor service. read more

The worst agency to work for. It took them a mo5 weeks for them to pay me. They claim I was n they don't know who I was. But I have been working for them for a year. They cant find me in the system. And that was not the only time they been behind in paying me. I did get frustrated, Nobody can give you straight answer, Another time I didn't getpaid I was told it was in the mail. And I askes any idea when it was mailed. Answer No call back Monday and talk to the The person in charge. call back Monday they say my check was stopped. But they don't know why. Later he said he would send me another check. Than the says its in my bank account. T Later the figure out the wrong. I pissed I go off. Because it been a JOKE GETTING PAID By them .
