Snelling Staffing Services - Snelling Hayward

Yet another stereotypical staffing agency experience. Where do I start?…read more Well I got a call from Veronica at this location one morning regarding my resume that I have up on Monster. She had a position open that I had the skills for- plus the bonus skill of speaking Japanese which is what the company wanted. I told her I was interested so I did the ProveIt tests (as I've done so many times in the past already) and set up an interview for 8:30 the next morning to do paperwork. I went in and did the first set of paperwork which included some silly tests about filing and what not. Then I saw the agent, Veronica, to fill out more forms and do the interview. She grilled me on Japanese phrases but she didn't speak Japanese so I felt like I was just sitting there racking my brain for phrases I can't directly translate for nothing. Then I was ushered off to watch the TWO safety videos and finish my paperwork at the same time. I had to do tax forms and idiotic other forms that every temp agency has while watching two fake newscasters tell me common sense over the course of at least 40 minutes. But I've suffered through this all before so I decided to suck it up and do it since they actually had something for me. I finished the interview and left feeling confident, but still incredibly skeptical. I had reason to be as well. It took 4 weeks for me to get just an interview with the company for reasons I'm still unsure of. The company was apparently dragging their feet and not getting back to Snelling so I can't fault them on that. What I can fault them on is their lack of communication. Never once did I get an update that wasn't prompted by me emailing and asking what was going on. Even when there was an update I wasn't "kept posted". Finally I had the interview and all seemed well. I waited a week and then emailed Snelling, asking Veronica if they had said anything yet. Turned out the company hired on their own and Snelling knew it, but no one, not a single person, thought to contact me- the only person they had sent to this company. Granted they are a busy, busy place, but it's not unreasonable to have even the receptionist send out emails to candidates who didn't get a job. How are we supposed to know? If I emailed, I'd have to wait hours to get a response and calling them always resulted in talking to someone other than my agent. The only reason this location gets 2 stars is for Nancy. She is very, very nice and even called me the day of the interview to wish me luck. Other than that I cannot recommend this, or any other, agency. They have awards coating their walls, but I'm sure they're purely for number of people signed up versus people they successfully place in a job. So I shall close with the same thing I've said in my reviews for Apple One: I've noticed that this is standard practice from temp/staffing agencies. Unless the company already knows you and has committed to hiring you, don't bother. Every staffing agency will make you fill out form after form, a W-2, watch the stupidest safety videos, and go through an interview merely to completely ignore you. If you do manage to get an interview through them with a company, don't expect them to contact you if you didn't get the job. They'll never let you know.

Very unprofessional, when I initially went in, I was snubbed off as I'm busy and never given an…read moreinterview or asses to go over my credentials. I called and made a complaint about this, Anna the office manager asked if I would remove my negative review, which I did and gave them 5 stars, because AS SOON as I left a negative review on Google, they called with a job, and needed me to start the next day and to purchase all necessary safety equipment IMMEDIATELY, I believe they were hoping I couldn't afford it and wouldn't take the job. However, I did and started immediately the next day, at a location with a restroom and breakroom you have to drive to, no running water in the building and no A/C where we'd label freight and walk 4-5 miles a day, according to my fit bit. I was injured on the job, they have continued to tell me to stay home, then go in, then see another Doctor, we sent you to the wrong one ... long story short, they finally sent me to the location in Stockton, Concentra walk in clinic that after reading reviews, they seem to go against all other medical staff regardless and send people back to work 100% full duty. While the office staff at Partners, mistakenly sent me to a reputable Doctor that advised light duty, they wanted me to cancel what she said, cancel any future appointments with her and see who they advise in Stockton ONLY, I'm my own advocate and will not jeopardize my health and safety for their sake. Read up on Concentra in Stockton, they are a irresponsible practicing team, that do not care about patients, they seem to simply do whatever the employer advises. * Also note, they (Partners) now continues to screen their calls, and tell me they will find something else for me, however, they now forward my calls to voicemail, or to agents that only advise that they have nothing for me, or purposely advise jobs that I have no training in. i.e. I was asked if I could work a Jack Hammer ... they believe it's a joke and all sit in the office unprofessional, and not as people of service to others, but what can it do for the office numbers, ratings and self gratitude. I'd advise to seek another agency, don't look at the reviews, as they REQUEST 5 stars and if you are employed with them, I can see now why people might feel the need to oblige.

Frustrated is an understatement. Ditto to the review below about negative behavior…read more At first it sounded like a very supportive organization to sign up for, but once I started talking to the advisors and call staff it felt like they lacked empathy, condescending even. They emphasize following their process without explanation, just that it's the required next step. I initially followed as required, but then it just felt like they were not listening to my questions for clarity, just reiterating their steps. It just felt like they didn't give me credibility, just discomfort. :(

The career and training advisors care and they do the best they can to provide guidance and advice. The advisors that I have worked with have been very positive, encouraging, and helpful. NOVA also offers a variety of workshops to cover various needs for job seekers (resume writing, interview skills, LinkedIn tips, etc). However, where I find NOVA really comes through for its members is access to resources. During my time, I was given opportunities to attend job fairs, an event at the LinkedIn campus, and regular networking events. Every Thursday NOVA also brings in a guest speaker to present key topics. Many of these speakers are very open to providing you with free consultations where I've had the chance to get different perspectives on my resume, career coaching, and networking advice. NOVA members also get free access to LinkedIn Premium and LinkedIn Learning for a year and courses on IBM SkillsBuild for 6 months. Most importantly, what you get with NOVA is a community of advisors and members to support you so you don't feel as if you're doing this job search alone. Best of all, all of these services and offerings cost you NOTHING, as long as you live within the qualified cities. Joining NOVAworks does not guarantee you will find a job because there is no one-size-fit-all approach to job searching. As a job seeker it's important to find an approach that works best for or is most comfortable to you. In that respect, NOVAworks does a great job of providing a foundation to work with, and fairly limitless access to tools and resources, that can enable and empower you.
