Vermont apple cider mimosa
Kira W.

Tucked in a cozy area here in Winooski is a cute bistro. The vibe gave calm and chill for breakfast. It was just *chef's kiss* I started off with the Vermont apple cider mimosa and ordered a ginger bread waffle with lemon compote, scrambled eggs and maple sausage called the jumpstart #3. Everything tasted so good. The lemon compote with gingerbread gave an amazing contrast in flavor sweet and tangy. My friend had the California eggs Benedict . Looking out the window while having breakfast was really great.

Visit Date: Aug. 11, 2024 I met with a friend and he had suggest we go to Sneakers - naturally I gave it a shot since I'm from out of town. Overall, my experience was okay. It was great to have been seated right away on a busy Sunday brunch rush but that came with its shortcomings as we realized our server was still frantically busy. Which led to delays in our meal along with forgetting certain requests we've had. But that's not why I rated this place only a 3/5 stars as I understood the nature of being busy. The reason why Sneakers received a 3 out of 5 was because of the lackluster flavors from the Cowboy Hash and side of pancake I opted for instead of toast. I enjoy a great hash combo but the Cowboy was a bit too bland to the point that adding hot sauce and more pepper was needed to elevate its taste. The pancake was okay at best as well - a bit too dry and needed to be supplemented by more butter/syrup than I would've liked. However, the ambiance of the place was super nice, it was cute, decor on the walls, staff, and patrons, were all pleasant. It really was just the food this time around, unfortunately. I may give it another go in the future though!

Breakfast Burrito and iced apple cider,ca eggs Benedict with potato wedges and oatmilk hot chocolate

Sneakers Bistro is my go-to brunch place in the area. It's walkable, and there's enough street parking nearby. The one thing I don't love is that you can't make reservations. I saw another review that said sneakers "can't handle the traffic" and this is true. Definitely not the place to be at 1130am on a weekend. If you're going on a high traffic day, arrive at open. The eggs Benedict here are really fantastic and the primary reason I love it here. But some other great reasons are the drinks; the coffee drinks are decadent, they offer vegetarian and dairy free options for almost everything, and the brunch cocktails are creative and fun. It's a fantastic location for a casual brunch gathering. The staff here are also really lovely. So friendly, and always offered my dog a bowl of whipped cream and water. It's well lit and the portions are large. It's important to note that they are not diligent about cross-contamination. Celiacs and people with severe allergies be aware of this. Home fries

I went today for brunch , We had put our name on the online wait-list while we were still at home, it gave us the wait times so we could calculate when we needed to leave the house , a soon as we got there our table was ready , I'm very happy with the system. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The ambiance was comfortable , we could hear ourselves talking,so it wasn't overly noisey. I ordered the lemon poppy seed waffle with a blueberry sauce (it was hidden underneath the waffle) I couldn't taste the lemon poppy flavor, the blueberry compote was good. I just wished that they had cooked the waffle abit longer as it was a bit soggy. The homefries were large pieces but tasted a bit mealy and a little under cooked, There wasn't any seasoning , potatoes need seasoning while cooking , maybe a bit of pepperika , I would have loved the option of onions and peppered to add , I don't believe the potatoes were cooked on the grill but maybe fried in the fryer just to turn it sightly brown. I miss those greasy crunchy bits. my fellow diners at the table all seem to be enjoying their foods an assortment of lunch or breakfast items. Except for the potatoes

Sneakers Classic Eggs Benedict (eggs were boiled not poached)

I was looking forward to this place but came out very disappointed. From the quality of the food to the service, I wouldn't recommend it. We ordered the benedicts but the eggs were basically hard boiled. They definitely don't know how to poach eggs. The service was awful. Our waitress was uninterested and we had to call her to the table to even refill the coffee, something when eating at a diner should be automatic. Best part of breakfast were the home fries. The rest was forgettable. Street parking but you have to pay $1 hour.

The food was phenomenal, I just wouldn't recommend coming on a holiday weekend or a graduation weekend/Monday. It's a lovely small business that can't handle the traffic. You can put your name on a waitlist via their website, but then you have to be diligent about letting them know you've arrived (our young family members were anything but diligent!) Get the pancakes! They were actually better than my own homemade ones! If you're vegan, the hash was soooo tasty! Everything was absolutely delish. Even the coffee!

I enjoy the Kahlúa French toast! And their ginormous hot chocolate. Not your typical breakfast place but incorporates different flavors.

I sat down with Noah as my server, and he truly elevated the entire experience. His recommendations were thoughtful and spot-on. I started with the radicchio salad, which was beautifully balanced and full of flavor. There was also a filet mignon addition to the menu that I couldn't pass up -- absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Noah suggested a Cabernet to pair with my meal, and it was the perfect complement. It really tied everything together. Even though I swore I couldn't eat another bite, I ended the evening with the sticky toffee pudding... and I'm so glad I did. It was completely worth making room for. If you're ever in Burlington, this is a place you simply shouldn't miss.

It combines a log cabin feeling with the aesthetic of a modern feeling restaurant. On top of that, every bite that I ate, from the dinner rolls to my pasta entree, was terrific. You won't find food much better than this. That being said, I do think that the menu is a bit overpriced. Everything was very very expensive. If you do go, I highly recommend getting the shareable pastrami. I had a bite of my friend's and it nearly knocked me out of my chair with flavor. So good!

Poco was absolutely as good as the ratings suggest. We had 4 items... Grilled Carrots, Elote fritters, Dan Dan Noodles and wok fried shrimp. The carrots were multi-colored, gorgeous, and surrounded by delicious flavors and accompaniments including a yogurt-based sauce and a spicy chili oil. The Elote fritters were spicy and crispy, served moments after coming out of the fryer and topped with a chipotle blueberry sauce. The Dan Dan noodles were amazing. Typically Dan Dan noodles are made with ground pork but Poco's was made with mushrooms. The noodles were tender and a little thicker than I'm used to but felt freshly made. The flavor overall was savory and umami filled with a gentler heat than other Dan Dan's I've had. This was tied for the very best Dan Dan I've ever had and I try Dan Dan anytime it's on the menu at places I eat at. The wok fried shrimp were not a favorite of any of the 3 of us that had them but they were still quite interesting with a bracingly acidic sauce and crispy rice that had a texture that left me wondering how they did it. We dined on a Tuesday in April and were in a line waiting for them to open. The entire dining room was essentially seated immediately when they opened. Despite this, dishes and drinks started arriving very soon after we ordered and the pacing was great throughout the meal. If you go on a weekend or even a busy summer weekday you should be ready for a substantial line and they don't take reservations. Desert was ice-cream made in house and both the cinnamon and strawberry ice creams were beyond decadent and rich. The serving of 2 little golf ball sized scoops might look skimpy but this is powerful rich stuff and the serving is really all you probably want of such intense high fat ice cream.

Tonight the waiter or manager Matt or "long haired dude" in other post was insanely rude to me this evening. We waited an hour to get a table, expressed discomfort with the table and wanted to move. He told us no multiple times due to a waitlist- how is that possible when the website shows "first come first serve" concept. Anyways we wanted to switch to the bar, told us the bar stools were reserved (how can you reserve a bar stool if you don't accept reservations), then noticed a three top leave as I asked asked to move there as well, he rudely said he had another three top going there and there is no where he could put us, then finally more guest left and I was able to get us a seat at the bar. I was excited to finally change seats and he rudely put his arm out and said "we have to clean it first!!" There are ways you can go about things but he was insanely rude and unprofessional. Then I saw other guest who sat at that uncomfortable table also want to move (that's how shit of a table it was) and then to top it all off this person sat other two tops at three top tables that we were denied because we were a two top. For $70 for a cheeseburger, potato's, and soda I expect kind service. If I can stretch my arms out and touch the backs of guest at the bar and guest to my other side.... The tables are too close together.

A sister restaurant to Foam Brewers!…read more We spent a weekend in Burlington, VT visiting breweries, wine bars, a comedy show, eating, shopping and it was wonderful. Deep City was a recommendation for brunch from a local. It is the sister restaurant to Foam Brewers (right next door). When we walked in there was a small wait but not bad. We headed over to the brewery to grab coffee and to check it out. It is definitely a cool spot. They have a huge selection of beer, a small wine program (who knew) and small bites. Unfortunately they did not have TVs or else we would've come back to watch the football game but we did purchase some beer before heading back over for brunch at Deep City. The menu here is a little more Mexican-forward think Huevos Rancheros, but there was still plenty of items that looked appealing. We split the banana bread with maple walnut cream cheese (to die for) to share as an app which was fresh and delicious. I also ordered a fruit cup which was also good. We then shared their Huevos Verdes which is similar to Huevos Rancheros except it came with a tomatillo salsa. It was good but very sloppy to eat. Overall it was a great experience, and service was phenomenal. A great brunch place while visiting Burlington VT.

First of all, they have a parking lot, which is free to park in, which was super convenient. The menu is interesting and everything sounded so good, including the daily features (duck hash, yum)! It made it super difficult to decide what to order, but we eventually settled on the biscuits and herb gravy, the across the pond, a side of the cheesy kale, the polenta breakfast dish, and the trout and eggs. Our server was super patient and kind and the food was amazing. I don't usually like biscuits and gravy that much, but their vegetarian gravy was so tasty. It reminded me a bit of broccoli cheddar soup in the best way, and the biscuits were flaky. I'd had the English breakfast plate at Penny Cluse before, and this one was even better. I loved the mushrooms and the sausage. The cornmeal crusted trout on the trout and eggs plate was crispy and not fishy at all, and the best trout I've ever tried. I loved that everything we ordered was so saucy since I'm a big sauce girl. This place is high on my list to revisit when I'm back in Burlington!
