My son is also very picky with the type of shoes he gets he does not like to get just plain shoes he likes to have some type of color to them and he was able to get a really nice looking pair of shoes that were not overly priced but looked decent as well. Overall it was a very good experience and he left happy andar wallets left happy as well because they had a buy one get one 1/2 off sale so my wife was also able to get a pair of shoes for herself. The reason for the lack of the one star was because of the fact that they only had one person on the register so the line went halfway around the store when you are going to check out there should have been more people checking people out so that we could keep the flow of people moving in that store. Having driven the discount shoe store next door out of business last year, this location's prices,…read moreformerly decent, have since made the inevitable upward climb. Despite the fact the only remaining competition in the immediate area is the hopelessly poorly-stocked Target (and for work shoes, the fairly decent Mohawk Army-Navy) this location continues to drive me to other shoe stores. Their selection for kids shoes is poor. The stock in general seems to be very hit or miss; they are incapable of keeping all the sizes for a given model or style in stock, apparently, and seem to be randomly completely out of some sizes. The staff is very helpful and will help you with fitting if you ask, but tend to be occupied in the front of the house with customers at the checkout line. For adults, they have far far more selections for women than for men, and pretty much everything is now seriously overpriced. We kept checking in here for boots, good shoes, tennis shoes, etc. when we needed them because it's close but as the Mrs. has put it, if I have to get shoes that aren't really what I want I may as well pay $20 at Target instead of $50 or $60 at Famous Footwear. So, we're now giving up and not bothering any more, despite the relative convenience, because it is a huge waste of time. Better to drive 20 minutes to a place that's more likely to have what we want.

She spent a considerable amount of time using their equipment to analyze my wife's walking technology. She then spent considerable time asking my wife what she was looking for in a sneakers- in terms of fit and function. Tyler then brought out quite a few pair of different brands of sneakers. She and my wife analyzed each pair in terms of comfort and features. One thing that I found quite impressive was that Tyler had the discussion with my wife vs looking at me even though we were sitting together. Many other sales people in other stores tended to direct the conversation to me even though it was abundantly clear my wife was the customer. Tyler was extremely knowledgeable and personable and patient. She wanted to be sure all questions were addressed appropriately and in the end my wife did choose one of the pair Tyler recommended. It had been ten years since I was last here, choosing more recently to shop for sneakers at the outlets instead. But I was not happy with the last pair I purchased at an outlet and desired to shop this time where I could rely upon an employee to search, instead of me, through the store's stock for what I was looking for. Vivian did just that. I explained what I was looking for, and described what features I wanted to avoid. She then retrieved from their stock several pairs that met all my criteria. After trying out all of them by walking throughout the store, I made my choice. But I wasn't finished yet. She had responded to an earlier question regarding arch support that none of the brands of sneakers the store carried had arch support. I therefore said I was interested in purchasing a separate pair of insoles that would be appropriate for my feet. She brought me to a 3D foot-scanning machine that showed the shape of my arches. Based upon that information she had me sample several different insoles that would address my needs. Once I made my choice she custom cut the appropriate pair of insoles and inserted them into the new sneakers I was buying. I got to also retain the insoles originally provided by the manufacturer. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Ten days have now passed and I'm quite satisfied with the feel and fit of my new sneakers.

This is a standard-issue Marshall's, which is to say it's the Ocean State Job Lot of cast-off…read moreclothing and a few miscellaneous odds and ends, everything cheap but the stock quite unpredictable. Some major pluses for this particular location though: unlike EVERY other Marshall's I've been in, and I do mean every one (maybe a dozen over the years) this one was very neatly kept without stock being flung everywhere. Only a few things were out of place. Maybe I just went on a good day, but that makes it a little more attractive to come back to. And the staff were actually pretty perky, not at all like the usual "I hate this job and can't wait to be out of here" vibe I've gotten at other Marshall's and similar locations. I still can't take Marshall's above a three star rating because of the so truly random nature of the store that makes it difficult to shop at -- it's closer to a thrift store with new stuff instead of used than anything else I can think of -- but top marks for this location in its category and perhaps the promise of a fourth star in the future if some miracle bargain befalls me on a future visit.
